jonesy9 Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 This is quite disgusting, Remember playing after school and the kid whose ball it was picking it up and walking off if he was losing? This is just the same. The bigger clubs are losing their grip and as Corporal Jones would say :" They don't like it up 'em" Its so good to see Leicester a so called smaller club sticking it to the big playground bullies. Forza the Foxes!
Carl the Llama Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 It says it all that short while ago media outlets were plastering Man Utd's record projected income all over our faces as if somehow this and not results on the pitch proved what a great team they are.
MrKåmark Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 I wonder what constitutes a PL top earning club in the eyes of the so called European elite given the wealth in the league currently. You could argue that around 8 English teams meet that criteria, which clearly wouldn't happen so there must be other criteria. Therefore do they define it based on domestic success, European success, global profile? If it's Domestic success Liverpool would miss out on recent history, if it's European success then Man City nor Arsenal would make the cut. I certainly can't imagine that the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham would pleased about being left out of such a competition. I was thinking the same thing, it would be complete chaos, would PSG be the only team from France? Would Blackburn be more eligible than Liverpool based on domestic success and Forest more eligible than Arsenal on European success?
MrKåmark Posted 5 March 2016 Posted 5 March 2016 Personally I don't give a monkeys how much money a club makes, all I want to see is success, and fair competition, so Arsenal get in the super league based on their accounts department, But are they successful? Yes they get top 4 every year and yes they qualify from their CL group but that's it. I just can't make sense of it,
Dan Posted 6 March 2016 Posted 6 March 2016 Arsenal are only successful in the eyes of the materialistic. Their mentality is everything wrong with football.
easilee Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3479384/Claudio-Ranieri-right-Leicester-arrogant-Big-Five-running-scared.html Here is what Ranieri had to say about English football’s self-proclaimed big five: currently third, fourth, sixth, seventh and 10th in the Premier League, by the way. ‘I understand bigger teams don’t want one year without the Champions League, but this is sport. For one year, you don’t achieve this, you want to make something different? It’s not right. You are afraid. You are not strong. They have to blame themselves. They should ask: Why is a little team like Leicester doing better than us?’ Yet that is the question they will never ask, because it shines a light on their own stewardship. The five men who sat down with Charlie Stillitano, an American businessman with designs on setting up an elite-only Champions League, do not own their clubs. They are employees, who must perform. Yet their clubs are not performing. They are not doing anywhere near as well as they should be, for the money spent. And the five are frightened. Afraid that the real boss is going to walk in one day, point a finger and say: ‘This is down to you, this is your mess.’ So let’s ask Ranieri’s question, the one about Leicester — and a few more. Ed Woodward, Manchester United have the biggest turnover in club football, as you never tire of reminding us. So how did you finish behind Wolfsburg and PSV Eindhoven in your Champions League group? Why are you finding it so hard to get into the top four since Sir Alex Ferguson retired? And why are you 13 points behind Leicester? Ian Ayre, if Liverpool are so deserving of a Champions League closed shop, why have they made one Champions League appearance since 2009-10? Why have they lost to West Ham three times this season? And why are you 16 points behind Leicester? Bruce Buck, how did Chelsea go from champions to relegation form in a summer? Why is the answer always to sack the manager? And why are the reigning champions now 20 points behind Leicester? Ivan Gazidis, with the money Arsenal charge for admission, and the enormous financial reserves in the bank, how come the time elapsed from your last title is now entering its second decade? Why have you been knocked out at the last-16 stage of the Champions League for five straight years? And why are you eight points behind Leicester? Ferran Soriano, Manchester City have a single win all season against any team currently in the top nine. And that was at home to Southampton. How many hundreds of millions have been spent on your watch to achieve this? And why are you 10 points behind Leicester?
yorkie1999 Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 So would Sky still support the premier league financially?
davieG Posted 7 March 2016 Author Posted 7 March 2016 Are they talking about a closed shop Champions League or a separate European League, I've always assumed this discussion was about a closed Euro league with them still competing in the PL.
Larry_LCFC Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 I think it's a closed super cup competition to replace the CL. In other words, shit.
davieG Posted 7 March 2016 Author Posted 7 March 2016 I think it's a closed super cup competition to replace the CL. In other words, shit. So the current Europa League could be for the actual champions.
Nalis Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Its funny because 5-7 years ago Man City would have not been invited and 15 years ago nor would Chelsea. Now they are seen as the power houses of European football...amazing what having a billionaire can do to the profile of a club. 100% this. I think Chelsea (notably Peyer Kenyon) were a strong backer for FFP just when they were starting to become profitable and seen the threat from Man City. Talk about spitting the dummy out.
The_77 Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Its the american dream. Everyones a winner. This guy doesnt understand anything about football. His statements about utd being more integral to football than leicester show this. Without losers there are no winners, thats why americas full of rapists, murderers and druggies. They are the losers and outcasts that their society sweeps under the carpet. Wow. It's a miracle that I survived my morning commute.
Sionnach gorm Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Never going to happen. Even the "top flight" fans believe it is a bad idea. Nobody will buy into it...Except for three or four clubs...and that would just be dull.
Sionnach gorm Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Wow. It's a miracle that I survived my morning commute. Thank the gods! When I'm in the States I make sure I hire a bodyguard...though while in London I carry wods of money and skip through hackney like a little school girl!
yorkie1999 Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Wow. It's a miracle that I survived my morning commute. It is surely a miracle
Jimmy Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Wow. It's a miracle that I survived my morning commute. yeah but how many times were you shot doing it?
gerrytaggart Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 let them have their bum chum super cup. no one will take it seriously if the champions are not permitted to enter. ...watching manure and liverpool constantly getting spanked by psg and barca does have a certain appeal.
Finnaldo Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 Remember when Arsenal fans accused us of cheating by doping on totally no evidence, whilst their slimy officials try and weasel their way into guaranteed European football?
Clever Fox Posted 7 March 2016 Posted 7 March 2016 The Clubs who took part in this meeting should be censored by Premier league or FA. Their either part of a willing 20 Club Championship or their not, and have no right to go off making deals without permission from all 20 clubs.

As they are seemingly talking about a possible revamped closed shop Euro league it has nothing to do with either the FA or the PL. If anyone could do anything it would be UEFA or FIFA but these clubs potentially have more financial muscle/influence than even UEFA. The same happened when the PL was created the top clubs were able to out muscle the FA.
