anglodan Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Last nights BBC commentary of Vardys wonder bosh may be heard a few times over the years. But has any LCFC commentary left a mark on you over the years? A couple of standouts that stuck with me: LCFC 2-1 Palace Play Off Final in the 300th minute "That....could be....the winner from Claridge......it is!" LCFC 3-3 Arsenal in the 934rd minute 'Walsh arrives.....yes....yes..YES, would you believe it!' Ones I can't remember word for word but stand out as memorable at the time..... .....Like him or loathe him Stringer against Forest last day of the season? I remember as a teenager knowing almost word for word Alan Parrys goal commentaries in the 5-0 Play Off demolition of Cambridge. That was pretty epic for us at the time and my first memories of a LCFC side that was half decent. Another one I like was good old Neville the Soldier not having a clue at Pompey when Ian Ormondroyd almost started a riot. Again in the play offs. His bewilderment made the offside goal even sweeter Any that stand out for you?
ScouseFox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 itll be gradel right footed ITS THEERRRRRRREEEEEEEEE

Izzy Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Alan Parry when we beat Derby in the Play Off Final..."AND LEICESTER CITY ARE IN DREAMLAND!!!"
Narborough_fox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 One of the worst pieces of commentary has to have been on Vardy's last minute winner at West Brom last season. Something like 'VARDY! Leicester City have really done it now' but it just sounded like it was painful for the commentator to say. Gotta agree with AKCJ that Stringer's at Forest was cringeworthy. Martin Tyler's for Vardy's 11th in a row this season was class... 'IT'S ELEVEN, IT'S HEAVEN FOR JAMIE VARDY!'
Spiritwalker Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Steve Thomson against Swindon, the only Playoff I never got to. Went something like " through to Thomson and Thomsooooooooon ................... I'ts 3 all. Also back in the days before live commentaries when we scored they would interrupt the program or song with the 'goal horn". Away to Southend 1 - 0 down with 5 mins to go they start playing Come Dancing by the Kinks which was interrupted twice and we won 2 - 1. I still smile whenever I hear that song.
Kitchandro Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Alan Parry when we beat Derby in the Play Off Final..."AND LEICESTER CITY ARE IN DREAMLAND!!!" The whole speech for that goal is brilliant. He used to be a great commentator. What a shame he's so senile now. Steve Thomson against Swindon, the only Playoff I never got to. Went something like " through to Thomson and Thomsooooooooon ................... I'ts 3 all. 'IT'S UNBELIEVABLE STUFF NOW'
wardyfox86 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 "It's a lovely take by Riyad Mahrez... who's teasing Azpilacueta... and scoring GLORIOUSLY!! That is a gem... HE'S A GEM... in this jewel of a Leicester season, which shimmers on and on!!"

That Southend one was amazing. Didn't we go on to win 2-1 in the end and keep up the unbeaten start?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Hate Stringer's rehearsed lines. When we went up it was all "This is our year" and when we had just come up last season it was all "they're here Premier League and they're here to stay"... soon had to bin that one didn't he?! I've always felt with the Knockaert goal commentary it was pre-planned. The best ones are the simplest ("Aguerrrroooooo"). Martin Tyler really is the pinnacle.
anglodan Posted 3 February 2016 Author Posted 3 February 2016 The whole speech for that goal is brilliant. He used to be a great commentator. What a shame he's so senile now. 'IT'S UNBELIEVABLE STUFF NOW' Ha true, he must be getting on a bit though. Thought he was old when I was a kid but always loved him
Richard Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Tbf Alan young going mental in the background is pretty good https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uIWrnZ_EVq8 The allez Les bleus was cringe as shit though
JJS84 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Knockaert when he scored against Watford at vicarage road 'that buries a lot of demons' and Chris woods goal and subsequent sky commentary against burnley, both very good. But lots more over the years no doubt that have been forgotten.
steveherbe Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 I'll defend Stringer, love his commentary for Knockys winner at Forest. And the genius that put together all those clips of the match to Elbows Beautiful Day.... one of my favourite tracks on my player.
Footballwipe Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 "He'll do well to get in his cross and heads it back towards HESKEY... CLARIDGE... IT'S IN IS IT... IT IS! UNBELIEVABLE... LEICESTER HAVE SCRAMBLED AN EQUILISER... WITH MINUTES TO GO.. Can you believe this team... Defeat is not in their vocabulary" "Savage, sprinting to keep this in and swing it back in, good move from him... MARSHALL... Another headed goal for Leicester Ian Marshall gets in on the act. Inside the first fifteen minutes it's Derby County nil, Leicester City FOUR"
silebyboy Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Did anybody else make the regrettable decision to download the podcast of last nights post match reaction? I'm not a Stringer hater but Jesus, how many times in a row are you going to play your cringeworthy commentary of Vardys goal?
Spudulike Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 'Hold the back page...hold the front page. A Leicester player has smashed the record. What a moment in Premier League history, in Leicester City's history.'
DB11 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Martin Tyler's for Vardy's 11th in a row this season was class... 'IT'S ELEVEN, IT'S HEAVEN FOR JAMIE VARDY!' Nah that was well rehearsed it's got to be something that is passionate and in the moment kind of stuff. Like Agueroooooo against QPR when they won the league in the last minute
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Hate Stringers rehearsed shite. Almost does it to make the podcast or whatever after game. Parkers goal at Stoke was also another good one in the playoffs.
Jakemoore Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Any time we scored this season and The Birch was on co-commentary.... You want to know what it sounds like when an OAP has an orgasm, listen to that man grunt with joy. Disclaimer - I don't know why anyone would want to know what that sounds like...
Ian W LCFC Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 I do love this commentary tbf. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot80PrLmkv0 'The youngsters off the mark' was decent for Liam Moore's first goal. And most of the lines from that montage video that's played just before kick off.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Stringers at Forest was way better than Tyler's for the Vardy goal. At least it wasn't rehearsed

In defence that would be his producers decision not his, unless of course he doesn't have one
Fox42 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 For some reason I get huge goosebumps from Bill Leslie's commentary. The Chris Wood goal vs Burnley, Knockaert vs Watford, Konchesky vs Wolves to name a few.
