Grewks Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 For years we asked "Why do we never score from set pieces"? Now, Ranieri is changing that because of the way we develop new ways of taking them. I didn't spot it at first, but look how crucial Albrighton's little dummy run is in getting delph out of the way, if he didn't make the run the ball wouldn't of got through.
Ross-Kemp Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Just the whole new approach to set pieces is good to see, we're finally trying different stuff and it's paying off. We've already scored from 2 corners in 2016 & it's February, unheard of as a Leicester fan, but I guess everything else that's happened this season is too.
Fox92 Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 We've been trying to do a lot of new things recently. Even our corners have been different. Good spot re Albrighton too!
TheUltimateWinner Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I like our defending set pieces too, leaving players up to keep their players back, we just look like a well thought out side for once
Aberdeenfox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I can't believe the difference in our defensive record .Just brilliant recently and for huth to chip in with three goals fuchs with a few assists we seem to be less reliant on v&m but for me the team is full of boys playing out their skin playing for their manager and playing for the supporters So wonderfull to watch from up here in scotland where everyone is chelsea liverpool or man u I walk in to work on mondays so proud and everyone talks about us Stand Free
Countryfox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 All part of the 'little things' this season that CR has done ... He may not have built the team but he has fine tuned it in spades.
dylanlegend Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Tactics have definately improved. Another thing we did yesterday... Kasper purposely kicked the ball out up the man city end and out of play, knowing that with Kante and our high pressing we would probably win the ball off Man City from their throw in. Just shows how much a week of preparation can make a difference

Babylon Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I'd imagine that the goal keeping coach is now no longer in charge of bloody set pieces... something I found utterly bizarre under Pearson.
Babylon Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 All part of the 'little things' this season that CR has done ... He may not have built the team but he has fine tuned it in spades. The difference in defensive shape is unreal. Even at our best under Pearson in the championship, I always thought we were open and other teams would get chances. Now I feel almost at ease when we're defending. The fact he's done it without removing any attacking threat is incredible.
lgfualol Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I actually feel like we have a chance from set pieces now. For years the commentators would say "corner for Leicester, a chance to threaten with their height" and Matty James cant beat the first man or the ball is a slow lob to a place where none of our players are. It's felt like decades since we were good at them.
Koke Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Tactically we are streets ahead of last season and seasons before. Vardy is making intelligent runs, rarely offside, and is tactically aware. Albrighton, Mahrez and Drinkwater have also improved in that regard. Our players have improved drastically. Look at Vardy's 2nd against Liverpool. Fuchs clears the ball and Sakho let the ball bounce thus allowed Mahrez to nip in. Huth would have just put his square head on the ball and head it out for a throw in. Sakho wouldn't even make our bench.
Gerard Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I'd imagine that the goal keeping coach is now no longer in charge of bloody set pieces... something I found utterly bizarre under Pearson. Is that true? That's like putting the tea lady as the physio.
AKCJ Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Lets not beat around the bush. We scored our first goal because of atrocious defending rather than excellent play on our part.
Babylon Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Is that true? That's like putting the tea lady as the physio. It's true! From the mouth of Pearson... Mike Stowell FFS.
Vicki Vixen Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I'd imagine that the goal keeping coach is now no longer in charge of bloody set pieces... something I found utterly bizarre under Pearson. Agreed, I read this in the matchday programme when we played Yeovil at home and found it ridiculous.
yorkie1999 Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 We've been trying to do a lot of new things recently. Even our corners have been different. Good spot re Albrighton too! And kasper kicking the ball out at goal kicks is actually a cunning plan. It means you dont have to try and win a 50-50 ball against big defenders.
Gerard Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 Lets not beat around the bush. We scored our first goal because of atrocious defending rather than excellent play on our part. That's harsh, all goals are defensive errors to some degree. Albrighton took Delph away so Mahrez could deliver a ball to Huth who was just so much stronger and had more desire than Demichelis.
Grewks Posted 7 February 2016 Author Posted 7 February 2016 Kasper isn't kicking the ball out on purpose. You can see his frustration every time he does it.....Huth gave him a stare a couple of times yesterday.
sdb Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 I'd imagine that the goal keeping coach is now no longer in charge of bloody set pieces... something I found utterly bizarre under Pearson. Is that definitely true?! Worrying if so. Edit - I read on. Scary. And NP as an ex CB...
ealingfox Posted 7 February 2016 Posted 7 February 2016 You notice every game that they never mind giving away corners and throw ins because they are confident of defending them. Made it look so simple at times.
dylanlegend Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Kasper isn't kicking the ball out on purpose. You can see his frustration every time he does it.....Huth gave him a stare a couple of times yesterday. The Man City fans think so....They have a thread dedicated to it.... forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/schmeichels-kicking.319473/

Kasper purposely kicked the ball out up the man city end and out of play, knowing that with Kante and our high pressing we would probably win the ball off Man City from their throw in. Just shows how much a week of preparation can make a difference I said that to my dad as well after he said in the second half has he actually kicked a ball that's stayed on the pitch today. What could man city potentially do from a thrown in 30 yards from their goal? If it did eventually lead to a goal it would be quite poor defending considering the amount of time we'd have to prepare for them to get the ball down to the other side of the pitch and as you said, with Kante and our pressing we were winning most first and second balls
ozleicester Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Tactics have definately improved. Another thing we did yesterday... Kasper purposely kicked the ball out up the man city end and out of play, knowing that with Kante and our high pressing we would probably win the ball off Man City from their throw in. Just shows how much a week of preparation can make a difference well if this is true... ive got an awful lot of Kasper directed abuse to take back. And its a very interesting plan. Edit - Fkin ell.. just checked out their forum... 82 pages on the post match thread, then realised its only about 10 comments and then next page. Foxestalk is the LCFC of the forum league
Sampson Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Anyone else noticed we seem to have been taking a lot more outswinging corners recently? Fuchs and Albrighton seem to have switched sides from the sides they used to take them in recent games. We always seemed to do mostly inswinging corners til recently.
