Honestly, not a clue. I've been working in project management for the last decade, specifically in automotive which is obviously on its arse in this country. I had wanted to pivot and do something else back in June when I took redundancy. I had a couple of interviews for roles which would have accomplished this but no dice, then a job came up and it was automotive and I got sucked back in.

 

I need to have a serious think about what I'd want to do, but always what is viable, long term.

Stuck in a rut recently. ****ed everything up with my partner who now ****ing hates me and run up a huge debt I can’t handle. About to be made homeless just before Christmas and feeling like no matter how hard I try nothing is good enough. Why do I always **** everything up so bad? What an absolute useless piece of shit I am! 
 

When my mind overthinks I end up ruining everything with my paranoia. What a ****ing great Christmas.

Police are coming to talk about it. What a ****ing mess

That's a pretty great thing to do whoever that was, especially considering they did it privately and not for kudos on here

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time.

 

No matter what is going on you are absolutely not a worthless piece of shit though bud. 

 

You're human, you're fallible and you make mistakes just like we all do. That's life. You are far more than a bloke who has made a few mistakes and fallen on some really difficult times.

 

Try and keep the mind occupied on something to stop the overthinking spirals and try not to be too hard on yourself, the stories we tell ourselves can be powerful and detrimental.

 

I hope things improve for you mate but either way keep posting, you can always count on this thread for some support.

Thanks for the support guys. I’m working through things in my head and I will get there. Just got to find a purpose and a thing to work towards. 
 

I’m really lost at the moment and completely out of sync. But I’ll get there.

I’m also in a bit of a struggle phase but I find the winters always brutal in this regard.

 

I hope everyone manages to make it through the holidays ok. I understand this is a tough time of year for many, thinking of loved ones past, and can compound the loneliness. Really wishing everyone has a Christmas and new year where they can at least find some peace of mind

Same here. Winter solstice yesterday so days will begin to stretch out. 

 

I find the period horrific - anniversary to roughly my Mum passing which connects with a lot of memories and then had the lifestyle of work and playing hard.

This is possibly the most important topic on Foxestalk.

I really do feel for anyone struggling, especially at this time of the year. 

 

My brother has been suffering for nearly 40 years. He has taken another downward spiral recently, following our mother's passing at Easter. They were very close. He was sectioned 8 weeks ago (not for the first time).

 

I visited him today.

It's so difficult seeing my brother & other people going through this trauma. Many are on high doses of medication & show erratic traits in behaviour. All very sad, but understandable. 

 

I spoke to a few nurses & always chat to a nurse about my brother when l phone. They do such an amazing job, always see the positive side & are very honest. Wonderful people. 

 

I just hope that anyone suffering really does get over this dreadful illness.

One thing at a time and try and keep the mind calm - easier said than done I know 

 

The other thing I'd say, and this is something I've thought about and not an empty platitude. Be kind to yourself. 

 

If you had a friend like you treat yourself sometimes, and I include myself in this, you'd bin them off. 

 

Don't take yourself too seriously and try and enjoy your own idiosyncrasies. 

 

If you come from a good place with good intentions you know you're a good person so there's a hell of a lot to work with. 

 

Let yourself off some times as you deserve to be liked and loved including by yourself. 

 

We're all Leicester mad on here mate and here for each other.

I wrote this a year ago and i was not in a good place back then. Whilst 2024 was the year that could fo f**k itself, 2025 was the year coming to terms with a lot of things. My head is certainly in a better place but everything that put me there is still the same. I suppose i've just learnt to accept it, crack on - work hard - do what's 'needed' of me. I still have no Christmas spirit (im not sure there is such a thing anymore) and will be spending the next few days putting on a brave face.  Boxing Day football will ironically give me some respite. 

 

I must admit i don't like compartmentalising things into years, but 2026 is the year I want to get myself back on track. Going to be some tough decisions, but it has to be different. I fear that doing that might make things worse before they get better.

 

Hats off to anyone who has provided support to anyone in this thread - there have been some incredible acts of kindness. For those of you struggling - stay safe and believe in yourself.

Second Christmas without my boy. In some ways it still feels as raw as ever, but its also better that all the 'firsts' are out the way I guess.

Just another day….. on my own this xmas. I’m feeling it! My kids at their mum’s grandparents with mummy’s new fella and they haven’t been allowed to ring or message me Merry Christmas. 
 

Just doesn’t feel like Christmas at all. I guess this lonely time is a good time to try and fight some demons. Trying my best not to get on the drinks but there is a bottle of vodka singing for me in the cupboard. 
 

Will just sleep all day instead.

All the best mate.  Lost my mum around this time of year so it's always a bitter sweet dealing with these occasions with some life's challenges thrown your way.  Try and enjoy the time off and do something you enjoy.
