dayday Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Two online re-sale websites are offering tickets for last home game for £15,000, the link is of the BBC. My mate text me last night saying he couldn't get tickets and he is a Gold member, apparently membership doesn't guarantee tickets WTF. So begs the question, how did these touts get tickets?
MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Surely this isn't right? Leicester City: Final home game tickets on sale for £15,000 7 hours ago From the sectionFootball Sharethis page Leicester need three wins from their remaining five games to guarantee the Premier League titleTickets to watch Premier League leaders Leicester's final home game are being offered for £15,000 a pair through an online re-sale website. The 7 May match against Everton, which could see the Foxes become champions, sold out in 90 minutes on Monday. But within hours, individual tickets were being advertised for more than £3,000 each and a pair for much more. The club said it would "take action against any ticket touting" or attempts to "resell tickets above face value". Leicester are seven points clear of nearest rivals Tottenham with five games left. They have already secured Champions League football and need three more wins to guarantee the Premier League title. They face West Ham and Swansea at their King Power Stadium then Manchester United at Old Trafford, before the game against Everton next month, followed by the final match of the season away to last year's champions Chelsea on 15 May. The King Power Stadium has a capacity of 32,262One fan who contacted BBC Sport said he had missed out on a ticket, despite having a membership package and having been to all but three home games this season. "This season is something we never expected and will probably never happen again in our lifetimes," said the supporter, who wished to remain anonymous. "Now I won't be there to potentially celebrate us winning the Premier League. It is a bit of a 'here's what you could have won' moment. "The club have been brilliant with fans these past couple of seasons. But I think there will be a few questions for them to answer as to how this has happened. I can't see how ordinary fans could afford to pay £15,000 for two tickets - looking at some of them, it's the price of a second-hand car." Fans can dream, players must be focused - Ranieri Sunderland 0-2 Leicester - report Watch - Emotional Ranieri "very happy" with win Leicester posted on their own website that the Everton game had seen "unprecedented demand" and sold out in "record time", with the "vast majority" of higher-tier members able to get a ticket. Membership does not guarantee a ticket, the club told the Leicester Mercury. "The unauthorised sale of football tickets is a criminal offence under UK law," added a club spokesman. A number of fans responded to the club's Facebook post with their complaints: David Lea: "Very bad when they are on ticket sites at anything from £495 to £5,000. Who's giving the touts these tickets? What's the point of being a gold/silver member? I'd like to hear the club's views on this." Ben Dunkley: "Absolute joke, what a waste of money spending £75 on a gold membership." Peter Schoneveld: "I made 85 calls since 9am as I have to book by phone because I have a family membership and was unable to get through. The system is rubbish. I have only been able to get tickets to one match all season!! Why am I paying over £100 for a membership (plus however much on phone calls sitting through an automated message to then be cut off) to get priority on tickets and still unable to get any! I am gutted... and angry." Emilia Woch: "The shameful fact of the matter is half these people who got tickets will go on to sell them off for thousands of pounds, whilst us TRUE fans (who find it hard enough to afford £50 a ticket, let alone thousands of pounds) miss out. If the club truly cares about its fans, it would void every resold ticket and sell them back to the fans who don't want to make money off Leicester's success and who actually want to go to their last home game of the season." Adie Wheat: "Gutted. Been all season, 1968 my first game never miss a season. Silver member can't get a ticket for the most important game - winning the league." Gemma Kott: "Gold membership! Was trying to get a ticket since 9am only to be told all sold out! Never had that problem before. People selling their tickets for a massive profit should be banned from buying tickets again." Philip Goodchild: "Gutted. You would have thought paying £40 per season would get you a ticket. The club should have capped the memberships at the beginning of the season." http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/36020849
Larry_LCFC Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Does make paying for membership a bit pointless really.
Mark_w Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 My mate text me last night saying he couldn't get tickets and he is a Gold member, apparently membership doesn't guarantee tickets WTF. There are a lot of Season Ticket holders, it's not a big ground - of course it doesn't. A season ticket guarantees you a spot in the stadium for every game, nothing else does and I highly doubt membership was advertised on the grounds that it would.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 You can't help but think of the same girl in the ticket office again can you
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 You can't help but think of the same girl in the ticket office again can you which one? The could of hotties of the one that's really a nottie
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Thing is with these touts I'm sure there's several people who bought season tickets last season who are man u/chelsea/arsenal ect fans who just go to their one game and sell the ticket for the rest of the games These are the people who I imagine are doing the selling at stupid money
Sir Shep Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Well let's just hope that those who are trying to sell aren't allowed to renew next season.
m4DD0gg Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 That article has pretty much guaranteed no ticket returns to the club.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 The fan interviewed in the article seems to hold the club responsible. Not like the club can do much to prevent this. How can they stop me from selling my ST (not that I would) for whatever price I want. "The club have been brilliant with fans these past couple of seasons. But I think there will be a few questions for them to answer as to how this has happened. Guest Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 It's disgusting that. I don't get the guy quoted at the bottom though "you'd have thought paying £40 for a membership would get you a ticket?" - surely the only way to guarantee a ticket is to buy a season ticket no? Although he certainly has a point about capping the amount sold, which I know has been mentioned several times on here.
TiffToff88 Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 I think this is just further proof of the need to expand the stadium in the summer. i read when we got promoted that the owners had plans in place already for a potential expansion, i guess this means they have planning permission all sorted already? an extra 10,000 seats would probably still sell out if we remain a top 6 club but at least it would make it easier for the true fans to get tickets.
David Hankey Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 There will always be ticket touts around sporting events and Leicester City's last home game is no different. Touts are the scourge of sport but I've never been a supporter of this membership scheme. Fortunately, as a season ticket holder of many years I can sleep easy. I've seen a comment from one person that he is "gutted" after paying £40 for his membership thinking, erroneously, he would get a ticket why I've paid over 8 times that amount IN ADVANCE!! Were where these folk when we were in the Championship and League One?!!

I'm sorry but I really would question this true fans bollox, we don't have to go back very far, Championship and tell me where were these TRUE fans then? Plenty of spare seats most matches! Yes there will be some genuine sob stories but over all people are only clamouring due to the unbelievable success of this season, nothing more nothing less!
m4DD0gg Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Not sure whats in the T&C's for re-selling tickets whether it be by a tout or a season ticket holder but the club have got over 3 weeks to track down these tickets and their corresponding seat numbers and cancel them and potentially re-sell them legitimately to fans for the correct price.
Alf Bentley Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 The £15,000 tickets could presumably come from various sources: sponsors, staff, skint real fans, opportunistic plastic fans. They could also presumably be fakes. It could be some criminal scammer selling forged tickets. You'd hope that the club have some way of tracing the source - and taking action if the tickets have come from staff, sponsors or internal corruption. Season tickets are supposed to only be transferable if a transfer is arranged through the club, I think. But plenty of people lend them to friends or family if they're not able to attend....though I hope that most of us would do so as a gift or at least for face-value only. I'd be less judgmental if the tickets are being sold by a fan - at least without knowing the facts. Is there nobody on here who'd be tempted if someone offered them a few grand for their ticket? Particularly if they or someone close to them was in serious financial trouble or desperately needed the cash for some reason? Although the Everton match is likely to see us either contending for the title or getting the trophy, it's mathematically possible (a) that we could be in 2nd place by then (if we lose our next 3 and Spurs get at least 7pts, or if we just get a couple of draws and Spurs get 3 wins); or (b) that we could be crowned champions at the Swansea match (if we win our next 2 and Spurs lose at Stoke, as they play after us and would be 13pts behind with 4 games left). Someone who'd paid £15,000 for the Everton match would feel a bit of a mug then!
Ashley Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 You can't help but think of the same girl in the ticket office again can you Doesnt work for the club anymore
gonnabeblueforever Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 The £15,000 tickets could presumably come from various sources: sponsors, staff, skint real fans, opportunistic plastic fans. As the tickets listed at £15,000 are in L1 row 1, they probably belong to a season ticket holder as I don't remember tickets ever being available for that section
Dynamogoon Posted 12 April 2016 Posted 12 April 2016 Not sure whats in the T&C's for re-selling tickets whether it be by a tout or a season ticket holder but the club have got over 3 weeks to track down these tickets and their corresponding seat numbers and cancel them and potentially re-sell them legitimately to fans for the correct price. Its actually illegal to re sell any ticket to a designated football match.
