Driving test

When checking mirrors don't just move your eyes. The examiner will look for an actual head movement towards your mirrors. Do your test in rush hour traffic that makes it much easier.

I failed twice with 3 minors in the same thing both times. Braking too late. They class the slight jolt when stopping as braking too late. (it was the slightest of jolts, next to nothing but still classed as braking too late) Stopped watching the car in front and watched the car 2 in front which corrected that problem.

Passed 3rd time with 2 minors and they were only because the examiner didn't want to give me a perfect test.

Yeh make all of your checks really obvious to the point of it being unrealistic.

Passed first time, was really relaxed as I thought i'd failed early on so just thought fvck it i'll just drive and then re-book it straight away.

Had reverse around a corner as my maneuver and I thought i'd rolled too far into the middle of the road but apparently it was fine.

Also, thought I curbed it about 4 minutes into the test but the examiner said it was just a grate i'd driven over.

4 minors altogether.

Remember that if you fail it's never your fault. Nobody ever blames themselves when they fail so why should you be any different?

In all seriousness, just keep calm. Try and have an attitude where you're not arsed if you fail. It's not the end of the world and there's no need to be nervous.

Wouldn't watching the car two in front mean you're braking even later seeing as you're gonna smash into two cars before meeting the car you're looking at? lol

Before the days of the theory test I blagged mine. Just said what the signs looked like. "um.. humped back bridge?"

The best was "what is the stopping distance at X mph" I totally but confidently guessed "X meters". The instructor paused and asked "could you say that in feet as stated in the highway code". I replied "I'm sorry but they just keep pushing the metric system at school so I've had learn the conversions".

"Oh OK, I'm pleased to tell you, you have passed" he reluctantly answered.

I was so nervous I bought a pack of fags to calm my nerves and I don't even smoke.

I passed first time but kept stalling when we got back to the test centre. Didn't matter though.

If i remember correctly you are allowed to stall, its the recovery from the stall they are looking for.

In my test i stalled doing a 3 point turn and still passed so think it must go down as a minor error.

In my test I hit the kerb and drove over it after the 3 point turn and still passed lol Probably should have been a fail as the examiner didn't even reference it so must have been in a good mood. I was chatting to him throughout the test so hopefully he thought this guy's alright he won't be a nob on the roads

Good job he didn't base his decision on your circa 2005-09 FT profile then.

Congratulations. Nice relief to have.

I recommend doing the 'Pass Plus' course with the AA, it'd reduce any insurance premiums as well as telling insurance company etc that you're a safe driver and this certificate is proof.

Passed my test today. Second attempt after I failed a couple of years ago and kinda gave up.

I used the advice of just making sure I use lots of head movement to show I'm looking at mirrors and junctions.

Had couple of 'iffy' moments but just think I was overthinking everything I did. I just tried to relax and treat is any other lesson.

Best feeling ever when they tell you you have passed!
