artursteppe Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 Ignacio Camacho. Defensive midfielder 26 years old. Plays for Malaga. Strong tackler, interceptions etc, only £16M.
Mezeker Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 I see the same reaction in women i approach on the street and use R Kelly lyrics as pick up lines when I think about our activity in the transfer market.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 Swansea are signing Alfie Mawson from Barnsley for £5 million. A mate of mine is a season-ticket holder at Oakwell and reckons he is a better prospect than John Stones was and is convinced he'll play for England. That said, he genuinely thought Peter Crouch should have been picked for the Euros
fuchsntf Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 The last 3 transfer windows, W.Ham have bought and invested in all and sundray. Are their successes anymore guarranteed, than Our own or Arsenals. Everybody as had a good go at Wenger, but I believe hes handled the would be buys, and hype of transfers excellently. The class , quality players for their style and standards just havent been around.Yes he needs a quality CB, and another forward, but does he buy for buying sake, just to keep the terraces quiet.Could Arsenal of chased the type of players that..Manu, Man.city, Chelsea have hooked. There are alot of bag avg players, going for or being tarted around for real stupid sums.Arsenal have actually got a good squad, they kerb their injuries, they will be contenders again. We see players being named on our forum, some good names, but as we have seen, 85% are not even going anywhere, or just not interested. The other 15% , stay just maybes. We have picked up a good Gk we needed. A CB in Hernandez A midfielder in Mendy A striker in Musa. I cant see Ranieri or the club going out buying like W.Ham, who also tend to have injuries. Its a simple question/equation which quality high class player (s) would sign for us, and be willing to wait in the wings, for the odd game, or a chance to break through. Look at the idea with Keane and Burnley wanting 18mil, why pay so much and who at this moment would you drop. Yes I would like to see quality upgrade in midfield, to fit in immediately and has cover. I cant read Claudios mind, but at times I can see him wanting to play 3 out n out midfielders Leaving out a Wingback...eg. DD...Mendy...Armatey, and its here I see no cover, once we have 2 longish injuries .Like he did occasionally for Mainz, could Shinji take up that mantle With that thought I dont want us to sacrifice any competition, and a silly attitude of losing to Chelsea in the league cup is acceptable. We might well do, but still being really disappointed if we do. Its the mindset of the squad and the fans, I want to see turned up a notch this season. This is my view on the transfer and squad issue only. How we shape up on game days and 3-5 game periods, my opinion or judgements, wont start to kick until October, with bad or great runs .This season wont be measured as a success/questionable in the first months.
FireFox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 As someone mentioned days ago, Can from Liverpool. Left out of the squad again today.

FireFox Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Just now, Mark said: He was injured vs Burton wasn't he? Ah, I guess so. Saw a Liverpool fan on reddit worried he was left out, assumed he was fit. He was left out of the starting XI though last week, and is starting league cup games instead of being rested to start PL games.
Lcfcrory Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 Would anyone take Sturridge on loan for the season? Clearly out of favour with klopp and could offer us something different
Tielemans63 Posted 27 August 2016 Posted 27 August 2016 How about James McCarthy? Just been reading that he wants a move from Everton. Would be an excellent addition IMHO and would fit in with our ethos. He'd bring that mystical Prem experience too. ..and the fact he's Irish is also a bonus.

dbtcity Posted 28 August 2016 Posted 28 August 2016 Just seen Schalke are in talks with chelski about loaning Kurt Zouma with an option to buy him at the end of the loan... I would be alllllll over that
Sly Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 For me, Zouma would be an excellent addition if he was available.
Grantham Fox Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 A right back, maybe Ginter if available for about £15m. Solid defensively, like Simpson but younger and better. A midfielder, one of N'Zonzi, McCarthy, William Carvalho or Camacho. And finally Slimani up front. This would improve all the remaining areas that really need improvement.

MarriedaLeicesterGirl Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 With Amartey's performance, I am less concerned about the midfield, although N'Zonzi would be a statement of purpose. If Slimani goes through, I wouldn't mind some youngish defenders who are ready to start: Marcel Tisserand would be available relatively cheap, and he can also play RB. We need to look to the future, and the only part of the team you can't see who is playing in four years is the back 4.

We simply can't take one good performance (in fact extremely good) from Amartey to say he's going to be the first choice central midfielder with Drinkwater. It might sound daft but I still think we are lacking a really good playmaker in the middle. If Danny gets injured, we are light in that central area imo.

I actually agree - which is why I said "less concerned". I do worry about the fact most of this summer's signings look to be on the bench for a bit, although I see Musa replacing Albrighton and Slimani replacing Okazaki once they learn the system. Mendy is facing a strong challenge from Amartey, who I think earned a start against Liverpool. That being said, CR now has the players to truly tinker; in addition, I am truly intrigued by who will be playing against Chelsea in the League Cup.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 I would be all over the Zouma deal bet the permanent transfer fee would be around £10-£15m. He's quick, strong & young. Can be a replacement for Morgan in the next few years.
wardyfox86 Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 If the 2 signings come off, which seems highly likely, then we are 1 rb away from a very very solid outfit. For that reason I would go in for Seb Corchia. An old work colleague is a Lille fan and says he's the business, was in Ligue 1 TOTY and couldnt believe he was overlooked for the France squad. Tells me he is great defensively, and has a wicked cross.

kingfox Posted 29 August 2016 Posted 29 August 2016 With Slimani & Silva likely all we need now is a defender. Ideally I'd like to see us go for a younger english RB or CB, we could do with a long term replacement for Simpson or Morgan/Huth. RB - If Odubajo wasn't injured I would of liked us to go for him. Craig Dawson from WBA another name that springs to mind, can play CB too. CB - Phil Jones rumoured to be leaving Man Utd, he could flourish at a team like us. Michael Keane, wouldn't be surprised if we go back in, at least once. Ben Gibson been doing well for Boro.

I don't think we will bring cover in for the defensive positions until January though personally.
