If Mahrez outperforms him (which is highly feasible) you're going to be getting Mahrez wanting another pay rise. £25mil for Matuidi is interesting. He's about as near to Kante as we could get. Then again he's been starting for PSG, I bet he's on similar wages to Mata.

You look at some of the players the likes of Chelsea have bought and sold and wanted to buy back again, Matic, De Bruyne, Lukaku. Schurrle, Salah, Cuadrado, Sturridge bought for good money and hardly give a proper chance and no doubt they all thrive once away from them. The list is endless.

Last year is seen as an anomaly and the CL adventure a one off for the time being. They dont seem to be chasing the end of the rainbow as yet and are not seeing last year as a 'free hit' to establish themselves in the top four earlier than their original plan. Of course we could see some new recruits before the window shuts but given Top's comments that the money is there to be spent, I think we are probably done unless papy' injury is worse than it looks.

Perfectly good cover at Centre Half and Right Back thats more than capable of breaking into the first 11. Juve champions league experience and Uruguay international.

It's created one of the biggest stories in the history of sport. You've given Mendy 50 minutes before writing him off and you given the manager no time at all to tweak how his system works to get the best out of what he's got... Something he excelled at last season. You and a bunch of others on here are underwhelmed every year. We get the same stuff written each summer, it was no different when we signed Fuchs, Okazaki and Kante. "no better than what we've got", "can't move forward with squad player" etc etc... We won the bloody league. We won't know if what we've got will work or not yet and won't for quite a while. For now it's guess work and fear because people don't know them... Just like they didn't know many of the players we sign. And if you knew Barbosa then I'll eat my hat.
