Edingleyfox Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Well if the club do fight back and make Jamie a new offer and he decides to stay then no more release clauses please unless they are ridiculously high. Agree spent far too long worrying about this over the weekend Numerous other rumours coming in on twitter such as links with Troy Deeney yet again.Be interesting to see if the odds start to come down on Vardy staying.Hope he does but either way needs sorting not good for the fans club or the player.
Heymister2015 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 why are people so angry and bitter about him leaving. Yes he said he would stay. But we all know it's about money. Always comes down to money. He's played his part. Let him leave if he wants to leave. Just embarrassing seeing people blow a gasket when we all know ££££ talks! We lose Vardy we'll sign someone else. We loose Kante we sign Mendy. These players haven't grown up supporting Leicester and have a loyalty to the club. Like any walk of life it's all about what's best for number one. Save the expletives for something that actually matter.
foxoffderby Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Good luck vardy. Thanks for the memories. There will always be a Leicester City

Corky Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 What's the point of offering another new deal? We buggered up by giving other clubs a bargain in February. The damage has been done, move on and try and get someone else in. And make sure we stand firm over release clauses in future.

Offering a new deal would probably include buying out the 20 million release clause, making it more lucrative for Vardy.

I posted something similar to this yesterday, think it's all smoke and mirrors from his agent. Was announced mid week club in talks with Kasper about £100k a week contract then all of a sudden Vardy leaving for 4 year deal on £120k a week - still think it's all a plot to get the wage demands they want.

Yup. His agents been a total c*nt but he's just doing a job.Vardy will sign a new contract with us. This whole fiasco has just been his agent forcing our hand to increase Vardy's wages.

If he doesn't sign for them before England fly to France, this is my take as well. We should know one way or another in the next 24 hours. If he goes to France still a Leicester player then I think he's very open to a new deal here. IMO anyway.

Now I am not ITK here, and I know this is a bit of a curveball suggestion....but I reckon the point in offering him a new and improved deal is to try and make him stay? Good be wrong though, Corky

Been done in completely the wrong way, but will probably end up getting the money they set out and that's all agents are bothered about.

KFS Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 The only thing that is still making me nervous is that Claudio said "it's all true!" And the Giroud comments. Then it's counteracted with the reports from the Telegraph (?) Just want an answer either way.
Matt Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Right forgive me if i'm wrong, my maths is terrible but giving him the pay rise for the remainder of his current contract, means it'll cost roughly just over what we'd lose because of the 25% sell on clause to Fleetwood. (Based on the extra money we'd be giving him, not including what he's already on, but we'd have been paying that regardless) The only thing is, it could cause friction between other players/they'll all want muchly improved contracts. Thing is and I agree with others saying we shouldn't pander to his games, it's principle isn't it, he/his agent are clearly playing us for money, it's a money issue and he doesn't care where he gets it. This team is built around people who want to be here, want to acheive here, so even though we want him to stay, at this cost, should we even bother.

In all fairness I think the longer this goes on for the more likely it is he will stay.

foxes21 Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 He is staying guys. His agent will get what he wants out of us.

49er Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 That's true, I'm the same. In all fairness I think the longer this goes on for the more likely it is he will stay. It would be a massive statement if he were to stay with us and a 'v' sign to Arsenal. They could be losing Ozil and Sanchez, and would be in a total mess.

Then it's counteracted with the reports from the Telegraph (?) Just want an answer either way. Claudio's comment was about the bid, which I'm sure we've all accepted is true. The other stuff, yes worrying as that's only coming from one place and it's going to be wilshere.
EGBFitness Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 But, what about the other players. How will their respective agents see this (if true)? I guess it depends on the agents? Just like in any form of business people work in different ways and I guess they have to assess the situation to how vital that player is to the team - there must surely be some talks between the player and agent prior to talks about a strategery plan too, so will depend on the actually player aswell. The release clause hasn't helped the situation and has gave the agent the power, obviously there's reports some have got them but I'm sure they all haven't. There was reports that city have opened talks with Simpson, I think if Simpsons agent started flirting with a move back to Man Utd or something through the press 90% of the club would laugh it off and dismiss it immediately. The same happened few years ago with Moore and Fulham/United.
RowlattsFox Posted 5 June 2016 Posted 5 June 2016 Kante could have mentioned to Giroud that Vardy wants to go. If it's been in the pipeline for a while.

The only ones that I would be concerned about leaving if we don't up their salaries as a result of Vardy's new contract would be Kante, Drinkwater and Mahrez
