Bazly Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Just announced Moussa Sissoko wants to leave Newcastle and would quite like to join Arsenal. At least someone is keen.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 If he has said he won't decide until after the euro's then he is taking the piss out of us and arsenal. The clause is there so we can't do much, it's up to arsenal to push him. How can both clubs plan moving forward? We could both miss out on other targets. What if... Arsenal only confirmed there interest Friday, leaving Vardy only a couple of days to sort it out - days that he had intended spending with his new wife and kids before going away with England, so he didn't have time to do full due diligence. Leicester's counter offer has only just come in as well (true, they didn't have much time to sit down with him either). So what Jamie wants to do is get all the football out of the way, then sit down and thrash out his future, before having a break and returning for pre-season. It's unfair having a go at Vardy for not making a decision, when in truth he's perfectly entitled to take time to make a decision. If I was moving to a club that wasn't on deadline day, I'd want to have time to go around their facilities, chat to the staff etc.

I'd prefer him to go or stay not to hang around in his own little waiting room.

Mezeker Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I wish we could go back to the days where I didn't have to charge my bloody phone 3 times in a day. Can I forward my electric bill onto the Vardys? need that backup charge handy, phone lasts for days.
sk1-fox-rou Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 need that backup charge handy, phone lasts for days. I bet this rubbish iPhone would still only last half a day [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stripeyfox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 They should do it like Bullseye. "Right Jamie you've got the time it takes for the board to revolve to decide - do you want to stay at Leicester or gamble on the Arsenal???" tick tock tick tock....
em9999 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I think vardy will and should stay at leicester. No offence leicester fans but as a arsenal fan I really don't want the guy.. So you would rather go into next season with no striker? Are you sure you are an Arsenal fan?

em9999 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Vardy would not fit at arsenal it would be a waste of 120 grand a week on a four year contract.. Plus he's too old to even give a four year contract Vardy would not fit at arsenal it would be a waste of 120 grand a week on a four year contract.. 49er Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I know it feels like that! Remember in the old days you wouldn't find out if we'd brought/sold someone until you read it in Match or Shoot the following Thursday! Before that yo would be reading Tiger and Scorcher and imagining that we would be putting in a bid for Roy Race or Billy with the old boots
SecretPro Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 And you don't think that we've been linked with half the strikers in europe since the season finished 3 weeks ago suggests we're probably after some? That's my point. Like in January when we were strongly linked with quite a few and oh. Yeah. We got none. Because we refused to pay the extra 50p.

The Doctor Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 That's my point. Like in January when we were strongly linked with quite a few and oh. Yeah. We got none. Because we refused to pay the extra 50p. And you know that how? Only one we were seriously linked with was Musa, and the reports this summer is that CSKA had no intention of letting him leave until the summer. Stop throwing your toys out of the pram because we've only signed one player a month before the window even opens.
HereBeFoxes Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 London Evening Standard says "Hodgson has banned agents from England's Chantilly training base ... but has not completely ruled out a medical taking place at the venue should Vardy accept a move to North London"
49er Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 A poll on the Mirror website posing the question 'Should Jamie Vardy move to Arsenal?' has so far yielded 51% in favour and 49% against after over 8000 votes. You never know who's voting in these polls and they should usually be taken with a pinch of salt. But I think that, in this case, it illustrates just what a tough decision this is for Vardy. Perhaps there ought to be a referendum the same day that we vote whether to stay in or leave the EU, asking the electorate whether JV should stay or go. Serge can be the stay put campaign manager with Piers Morgan in the opposite corner.
em9999 Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 I repeat due to this messaging system deciding to it isn't itenional
AKCJ Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 London Evening Standard says "Hodgson has banned agents from England's Chantilly training base ... but has not completely ruled out a medical taking place at the venue should Vardy accept a move to North London" Utterly ridiculous.
49er Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 So, no decision until after the Euros? Where does that leave us: 1) If Vardy was intent on going to Arsenal, surely he would have done so by now. Why wait? He will be out of the country for a few weeks, so he would have been away from all the outpouring of grief from the city fans. 2) Is he deferring the making of a decision so that he can get Arsenal to increase his salary. Possibly so, but only likely if he has an excellent tournament, which is not guaranteed. If he is the star of the show, there may be other suitors, which is what often happens to such players at the Euros or the World Cup (for example, Lineker moving to Barcelona after being the Golden Boot winner in the 1986 World Cup). 3) If he performs poorly, Arsenal may not be so keen and bang goes his move. 4) If he sustains an injury that may keep him out for a few months, then Arsenal may look elsewhere. 5) If he wants to stay with us, why do we have to wait for a decision. Optomistically, this could be a cunning plan to upset one of our rivals, taking them all the way to the brink and then saying 'no thanks'. 6) Maybe he wants to see whether we can retain Mahrez and Kante and the sorts of players that we are being linked with in the next couple of weeks. 7) I have a feeling that Arsenal may pursue other options during this period. Neither Benzema nor Higuain are at the Euros. I think that they would like either of these or Morata ahead of Vardy. They are good at signing players from Real Madrid's reserves (Ozil, Sanchez) so I wouldn't be surprised if they went after Benzema. Real Madrid are likely to be in the mix for Lewandowski so he will be surplus to requirements. This would be viewed by the Gooners as a marquee signing, far more preferable than JV. In conclusion, I personally do not think that Vardy will become an Arsenal player. If they were really interested, and he wanted to sign for them, the deal would have been done by now. Stringing his decision out, makes it easier for Arsenal to sell it to their fans - he had to give it serious consideration, but ultimately he decided to stay with Leicester etc.
Kendal Fox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Not every player self destructs like Gazza. Vardy is significantly (from a growing up point of view) older than Gascoinge when he went to Spurs. Vardy is also married and has a child, plus two other step children. London isn't for everyone, I don't mind going there as a tourist but would hate to live there. For me, the smaller the place the better. A nice village with one pub in the Lakes would be my choice. But other people like the bustling bright lights and that may be a factor. I don't think Vardy would be "ruined" by it though. He's no doubt more mature than Gazza was, but I think he has a down to earth side to him that is much better suited to a provincial area such as where he is now. Should he be left on the bench more often than not, or struggle to adapt to the way Arsenal play, I can see him finding London a very alienating experience.

Plus he's too old to even give a four year contract Has it occurred to you that Arsenal haven't played to a way that would suit Vardy because they haven't got a striker of his type and calibur at the club? Theo just doesn't cut it as a striker regardless of what he may think himself, but Arsen gave him a good run up top.
49er Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Jamie Vardy is the real life Roy Race! Where's Johnny Cougar to wrestle him into the car and Skid Solo to drive him away from the Emirates
Kendal Fox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Totaĺly agree, like all cities, in the UK anyway, London is a shit hole. just go down edgeware rd if you don't believeus.... go and see for yourself, row after row of derelict shitholes, then mayfair pops up. 1million for a 1 room bedsit. No thanks. That's excactly it. Even the so-called "desirable" areas back onto depressed areas with shit happening at any given moment. I used to live on a small estate between Wood Green and Muswell Hill - Literally 25 yards from my doorstep were £750,000 plus terraces. Did some of the undesirables from my estate think "Oh, there's a really nice row of houses, let's be considerate and respectful and leave those people alone.."? Nope, they sure didn't and saw them as easy targets and did as they wanted, usually fvcking up their cars or smashing windows here and there. Then there were those who were so supercilious and privileged that they failed to even notice how fvcked up the place was! Always remember thinking "Only in London..."
