AKCJ Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Christ mate chill out, no need for the F-bomb. It's only a football stadium for a club I don't support after all... Eh?
AKCJ Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 I love Upton Park. Great away day - I've enjoyed three trips there. Just like Maine Road and Highfield Road, I'll miss Upton Park. I love football - regardless of who I support - and it's sad to see such a great ground go. Sure you enjoy it on an away day but love? I reckon that's weird.
Voll Blau Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Eh? Not quite sure why you're getting yourself so worked up buddy.
StanSP Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Eh? he's being sarcastic. The fact you got so wound up at something which you were criticising.

Surely as football fans we should prefer old traditional grounds to the flat pack lego stadiums that we have nowdays. Southampton, Leicester, Derby, Hull, Coventry all exactly the same stadiums just with different coloured seats.
StanSP Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Not quite sure why you're getting yourself so worked up buddy. yeah same. I love places like Bernabeu despite hating Real Madrid. You can love something despite having no affinity to the club that plays there.
Voll Blau Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Sure you enjoy it on an away day but love? I reckon that's weird. It's purely platonic mate, swear to God.
Fox92 Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Can someone explain the reason for the names? It was always Upton Park when I was growing up. Boleyn Ground is it's proper ground name. Upton Park is just the area.
ScouseFox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 The media do get very misty-eyed over West Ham. i also love the movie green street. i am not a west ham fan by any means, but i was a great movie imo
Matt Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Nice, old fashioned ground, the types I like, but been 3 times and atmosphere has always been somewhat poor imo.
AKCJ Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Not quite sure why you're getting yourself so worked up buddy. he's being sarcastic. The fact you got so wound up at something which you were criticising. What do you mean "wound up"? I'm only asking a question.
Voll Blau Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 What do you mean "wound up"? I'm only asking a question. OK cool. We did kiss once but like I say, purely platonic.
Soar Fox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 My abiding memory of Upton Park will be Jermaine Beckford giving us that stare as he got subbed a few years ago
Dodgy Bob Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Was just going to post imagine how crap it would have been if we had started calling our ground the City Stadium instead of Filbert Street for our final season, then I had a quick look on wiki and they reckon it was actually called the 'City Business Stadium' there'd have been riots if we'd have reverted to that. "Business, and football?! It's enough to make me want to throw up."
Bayfox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Boleyn Ground is it's proper ground name. Upton Park is just the area. So why did the name get dropped and how. And why then all of a sudden back in fashion. On another note. Nice to see those from the 80s and 90s have given the place a send off
Dodgy Bob Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 This. Surely as football fans we should prefer old traditional grounds to the flat pack lego stadiums that we have nowdays. Southampton, Leicester, Derby, Hull, Coventry all exactly the same stadiums just with different coloured seats. Mini Wembley bowls were all the rage when those grounds were being built, and what you're describing as 'traditional' were seen as decrepit. Those old grounds aren't really traditional in as much as there weren't any design standards being consistently applied, clubs just built grandstands and added to them over the years, which gave them character, but not really tradition. Personally, I don't mind the mini-bowls. I prefer the KP to Filbert Street, but if we were to build a new stadium I'd love it not to be so uniform all the way around.
Lionheart10 Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 West Ham fans start the party by smashing up the Man U team coach!!
