Tuna Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 The sniping and sneering at one of the best goals I've seen in a long time on here is astonishing! It was exceptional!
foxes21 Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 This palace performance is the problem with 4-3-3. If you get sucked in deep, there is hardly an outlet as the wide players are having to still track back due to the oppositions overlapping fullbacks creating overloads. Glad we haven't switched to this formation.
Matt Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 I know they're playing Arsenal but Palace are woeful aren't they!? They're in the relegation battle.

Yeah ok he's tried to flick it but it could have gone anywhere. No skill involved really. Anyone who played a lot of football as a kid probably did 100 of those flicks every day. Sometimes they fly into the net, most of the time they don't.
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Brilliant goal. He knew what he was doing...ie he just had to somehow direct it toward the goal. The poster above is spot on. If that was ANY of our players, it would be the best goal in history. Because it was Giroud, it was somehow a fluke. Oh, the fickleness of football fans.
SystonFox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 And also knockaerts scorpion kick vs Huddersfield is technically an OG? Am I wrong in thinking this?

Tuna Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Astonishing really, how far above the rest the so called 'Big' 6 are this season. It's almost as if we upset the applecart so much, they made sure it could never happen again. Maybe it will, maybe it won't just really shows what a stunning, incredible, unbeleivable achievement last season was for us and it must never be underestimated.

They have looked poor for the last several games. I dont know how Super Horns feels about this, but a big factor in them being so hot and cold must be the lack of "englishness" at the club. Many languages, cultures, football philosophies all coming togther, id imagine it must play a part that the spine of the team has no home grown core? I might be talking rubbish.

I'd say the tinkering is what's doing it. I'm all for a bit of tweaking of tactics, formations and players depending on who you play, but it seems every game they switch between three of four at the back. Sometimes one, sometimes two up front. It seems the striker changes game to game too. One weeks it's Deeney, then it's Ighalo, then Success, then Sinclair, then Okaka. Players can't get any kind of run of form going because they drop in and out the team. The defence are all over the place because they don't play a consistent set up. They clearly don't know their best team and the best way to set it up.

One weeks it's Deeney, then it's Ighalo, then Success, then Sinclair, then Okaka. I quite agree the change in team/formation doesn't help but those 2 in particular hardly seem to stay fit for more than a week so its mostly enforced! Deeney hasn't been himself whilst Ighalo has the threat of a Conference South striker at the moment (no offence to them..) Same for the back 4 - we had Britos banned and Janmaat injured for example today. Its hardly any surprise our best player has been Amrabat - about the only player who hasn't been injured/banned or lost any form. I think most of the players do speak English but the manager doesn't (well in public anyway) - does waving your arms around do much to get a message across? Today wasn't helped by giving one of the best strikers and goal scoring midfielders in the country simply chances... Our main issue is the lack of discipline and number of injuries.. Worse in the division on both accounts...
ithuriel Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Ighalo has not been the same player but every season Watford seemingly decides on a managerial change, maybe he is not being managed in the same style he was when he was so effective?
Super_horns Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Maybe - he's not the only player out of form either (only so much he can do with players not playing well alongside him) Just the guy had such a good 2015 that the calendar year 2016 form was such a let down and either confidence has totally drained or the non-move to China has affected him. We would have gone down last year had Newcastle appointed Rafa B a bit earlier.. We actually only finished about 3/4 points above them.

Super_horns Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Well I bet we might be regretting turning down all that money for Ighalo and Deeney!
HighPeakFox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 By the way....people moaning about Zieler might like to check out Valdes' non-attempts to save either Man U goal yesterday.

The first one surprised me, he had already made decent saves but then it was the way he left the side of the goal open where the ball went in and to be doubly sure he takes a step away from the shot
tylesta Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Surely ibras first is studs up. Foots a bit high and he's basically kung-fu kicked the ball. In a day where the softest of free kicks are given that's dangerous play
Super_horns Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 I think it was given as a foul - much to the outrage of those watching.
tylesta Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 Haha I only watched some foreign highlights this morning on YouTube my bad
Super_horns Posted 2 January 2017 Posted 2 January 2017 TBF It took a while for anyone to notice. Don't think it helped that the goalie started to roll around 100 times!

Same as us with mahrez and vardy. In current form the money looks a decent idea. And maybe your fans wouldn't have gone into such a meltdown. But as champions losing Kante, Vardy and Mahrez the perceived lack of ambition would have got absolute pelters. But now anything around 50 million for mahrez had that sort of money come in. Would on current form seem madness. I'm hoping he gets going at the AFCON and comes back in good form.
