Pundits on Sky and NBCSN unanimously agree it's not a foul. That includes 2 ex Arsenal players. Maybe I was harsh questioning his desire, but a defender like John Terry is clearing that.

If the roles were reversed, that would be a penalty. The key is that Alonso got the run on him. Eyes only on the ball, leading forearm rather than elbow. I don't like seeing honest challenges pulled up for a foul, which is the way the game is going, so I was glad the goal was given.

"He has got to be stronger there" - a classic commentary cliche. Alonso is taller than Bellerin, and had a running jump whereas Bellerin was caught under the ball with no momentum. Not sure how he could have stopped it.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 You mean arsenal fans on Twitter moaning that it's a foul? no basis for foul there at all, good goal, defenders + Walcott should be doing better.
Koke Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 Bellerin was jumping from a stationary position whilst Alonso had a run up on him. There was only gonna be one winner. Harsh fo criticise Bellerin for this.
Finnegan Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 As ridiculous as that was, Coquelin should have just taken him out.
tom27111 Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 That's a stunning goal. 2-0 is flattering Arsenal.
ozleicester Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 ignoring everything else.... i like that Abramvich loves the game

It's actually once he gets in to the area that I think it's a little bit more forgivable. It's Coquelin just landing on his arse that's embarrassing. Just needs to wipe him out and take a booking for the team. Once he's in the box, he's so quick and he's got momentum, you've got to be very careful not to bring him down.

Conte strikes me as the best of Ranieri and Mourinho in one manager. Likable, polite, considerate but unashamedly passionate and clever with it. He's made Chelsea a hell of a lot harder to dislike, I've got to be honest. Arsenal's arrogance last year probably helps mind.

He's not the most fouled player in the premier league for no reason. He's incredibly good at drawing a foul because he's just got such ridiculous reflexes and co-ordination that the second you go for the ball he's gotten it out of the way and put himself in the line of fire. Also, the Chelsea fans singing "we want you to stay" to Wenger.

Ozwin Posted 4 February 2017 Posted 4 February 2017 Just squint a bit and put the tv on mute and you can pretend we're retaining the title.

He's also gracious in defeat and looks inward when losing rather than blaming the tea lady. Love his celebrations. Goes absolute unapologetically mental every goal means the world for him.
