Simo86 Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 2 injuries in 2 years, played almost every game in the 2 years preceding those injuries and played most of this season. I never said he was injury prone. Like I said, him being in form and fully fit is a rarity. Just because he's played doesn't mean he is fully fit
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 He said a front 4. If Mahrez is behind then technically its a front 3 We're talking about the attacking players, a front 4, Mahrez in the CAM / no 10 role

Blue Ed Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Is he willing to work hard and learn. If he is I think he could be a good signing. If he comes with a big player ego he's probably betting off somewhere else
J.Lisemore Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 2 injuries in 2 years, played almost every game in the 2 years preceding those injuries and played most of this season. i didn't realise he'd played so many games, shows how **** he's been really, apart from his games against us, he's been non-existent. There's absolutely no way he's worth his wage.
Thracian Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Not sure the bloke's progressed much since he was at Southampton where the fans really rated him. I'd have expected him to shine at a club like Arsenal with their short-passing and commitment to attack but even their trademark football seems to be in decline with the team not a patch on the Bergkamp/Henry era. especially for excitement. Once I thought of them as the best footballing team in the land but now I think of them as serial actors, moaners and ref bullyers. Apparently The Sun's just had experts run through all the matches righting the wrong refereeing decisions and come to the conclusion Arsenal were robbed of the title. There was no detail of the "experts" decision-making but I'd have thought our giving ourselves the handicap of missing penalties against Villa and Bournemouth was quite enough of a "chance" to give em without blaming the referees. And since when does any referee necessarily dictate an end result. The game becomes entirely different both in visual reality and the unknown of tactical changes. Don't they realise Ranieri could respond to almost anything! And a 10-point gap is a chasm.

They didn't, they still don't and hopefully they'll miss it next year.
Dan Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 I wouldn't take Walcott if Arsenal offered a straight up swap for Gray. Very limited player. We can do a lot better for what we'd have to pay, which I'm sure would be eight figures in fee and six figures a week in wages. No. EDIT: 'kin hell. Looks like people are still even after this season blinded by reputation. The justification for signing him is just terrible. "He plays for Arsenal & England" yeah, not very well.
Dan Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Does anyone know which player scored the most goals against us this season? I know he had a good game against us down here, did he score 2? Plus I thought he made a big impact when he came off the bench at Emirates too, did he score? I can remember Welbecks goal but can't remember who else scored? On his day he has the potential to be a world class player, I think his problems have been consistency - he has been at Arsenal so long now I think he feels he can play how he wants and get away with it - maybe like it was for Albrighton, it could be a time for change? Injuries have set him back too much too, you can guarantee after 2/3 good games he will pick something up, he could end up the same as Owen who also heavily relied on his pace. If we can purchase him for a bargain (around £10-£15 mill) I would take the risk. I think Ranieri/back room staff could get the best out of him. Don't think he would be a guaranteed first team starter and maybe more as an impact player such as Schlupp but feel he should play more as a striker rather than a winger Alexis Sanchez
Koke Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Alexis Sanchez 3 Kevin Mirallas 2 Solomon Rondon 2 Theo Walcott 2
EGBFitness Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Alexis Sanchez Ahhh yeah forgot about the hat trick down here
LCFC FOX Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 If you can't stop them, sign them. Let's sign Sanchez!
Clever Fox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 I'd sooner we keep signing players on the way up. I can't really see what he could bring that we don't have already.

I wouldn't even take Walcott + £10m for Gray. I think Gray is going to be another gem for us. He's looked a proper player already. I don't rate Walcott. He doesn't have a football brain. He's quick and that's about it. He's not a great winger and he's not a great striker. Add to that the injury record and the ridiculous wages, and the probability that he'd think we are a step down for him, and I think this would be one of the worst signings possible. No all day long from me.
Danizen Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 people saying that they don't want Walcott? he tore our defence a new one in both games, if he is fit and confident there is a better English forward. The only thing is his wage but I guess that will show he is actually wants to play for us. He needs games to prove himself, missing out of the Euros would of hurt him so hopefully that will spur him on to want to prove to the nation he is good enough. He has about four/five good games, every season. We were just unlucky that two of them were against us. He'd cost too much, his wages would be too high and he doesn't really seem arsed about missing out on the England squad so I doubt he'd be that arsed about putting in the effort for us.

No all day long from me. I tend to agree. What impressed me most about Gray was that, flamboyant as he can be, he followed instructions to the letter when asked, showing the maturity that suggests he's bright enough to put the team requirements first. Sometimes he headed for the corner flag and cleverly contained the play (with others). Sometimes took people on, posed a threat and relieved pressure. Thinking footballer who can deliver what's asked for in the differing circumstances. Another we seem able to trust.

Gray isn't the finished article but I've been very impressed with him. He's got skill, pace and he's actually got a brain as well. I think he'll go very far if he stays grounded (which he seems to be). He'll achieve more than Walcott has done. I reckon he'll be on the plane to Russia.
