Lcfcrory Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Why are people saying no? Walcott is a good player, he's an England international who plays for one of the biggest clubs in the country. This is exactly the calibre of player we need to be going for now we're premier league champions, not people we've never heard of who have done pretty well in poor leagues across Europe who will need about a season to adjust. The only issue I would have with him coming here would be his disgustingly high wages, but if he agreed to go lower we should get him in. Playing for a good team doesn't make you a good player and if you look at all the players in our team they might not all be as talented as some of the players in for example arsenals team, but they all work their bollocks off every game and are more than the sum of their parts, we should be looking at hungry young players who fit our philosophy and not be buying players who are happy to get a fat pay cheque each week sitting on the bench
Spiritwalker Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 I can't see this happening I think he probably thinks he is to big time for us. That said, if he did want to come in on wages that wouldn't upset our current squad then IMO he would be great addition (as a winger).
Koke Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Walcott positives He's fast He's an OK finisher (not great but not bad) Walcott negatives Poor work rate Poor technique No tactical awareness Poor first touch Can't head Can't defend Can't hold the ball up He's not good enough for Arsenal and he's not good enough for us. Walcott would struggle to hold down a starting place at a mid table side like Stoke. Chris Waddle said in 2010 that Walcott has no football brain. He got a lot of stick for that comment but it looks like he's been vindicated.
Mezeker Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 15 mil, 90k a week I would take him, otherwise he can continue to live in his cloud where he thinks he is a better player than what we have witnessed over his career. Edit: If we don't want to upset the wage budget just give him a big sign on bonus to compensate. I am sure it would not be a problem for our owners.
cityfanlee23 Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Walcott positives He's fast He's an OK finisher (not great but not bad) Walcott negatives Poor work rate - Rubbish, he does his role, he runs and runs for arsenal. Poor technique - Not sure where you got this idea from. No tactical awareness - can be worked on Poor first touch - Not really sure about this one. Can't head - Agree Can't defend - Says who? his job is not to defend at arsenal, riyad cannot defend. Can't hold the ball up - Agree to an extent. He's not good enough for Arsenal and he's not good enough for us. Walcott would struggle to hold down a starting place at a mid table side like Stoke. Chris Waddle said in 2010 that Walcott has no football brain. He got a lot of stick for that comment but it looks like he's been vindicated. Many top top players have praised Walcott and Ridiculed Wenger for managing him so terribly, personally I think if our scouts think we can get the best out of him, and we can get him for say 15m and get him on 80-90k per week, he's worth it, hes the sort of player that could hold his value and be offloaded to another team next season pretty easily.
deep blue Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 I do tend to think with the way Ranieri has turned our lads into much better players both in terms of ability and tactially, he could work well with Walcott. Walcott has allegedly turned us down which, if true, implies that he doesn't want to take the opportunity to learn from a good coach. I agree that he has been mismanaged. When you think how young and raw he was when Arsene plucked him from Southampton, and how much potential he had, he's not progressed nearly as much as he should have done.
AyewJoking Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 we dont need someone on 100k a week and always injured.
filbertstreet Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Would rather sign Theo Kojak. rather sign theo paphitis
GeorgeTheFox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Walcott only seems to try when he wants a new contract/pay rise. Absolutely despise him
4everfox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 I think he would be a quality signing. Its been mentioned on here a few times already but he has been horribly mismanaged and he plays in a team that doesn't play to his strengths. He has pace to burn and pace and counter attacking are like two peas in a pod, I think him coming here would be the best thing for his career as I could really see him being invigorated by joining Leicester and it would also give us a potentially deadly striker.
Tielemans63 Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 No thanks, the guy's clearly made of biscuits. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
weller54 Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 rather sign theo paphitis ..and for that reason.. We're out!
StarFox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Would absolutely take Theo Walcott in a heartbeat. In my opinion he's the only premier league striker who could equally match Jamie Vardy for pace & goals combined. You only have to look at our 5-2 defeat to Arsenal earlier in the season to see how similar he is to Jamie Vardy at times (ignoring his attitude and injury record)

Alex_LCFC Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Im just loving the fact that us fans are in a position were we can all discuss that theo walcott has been linked with us and we can debate wether we want him or if we should be aiming higher. Id take him personally but his wages could be a issue

HoustonFox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Worked with his dad and brother when I was in Reading. Really nice family and have their heads screwed on. He's no big time Charlie at all and I think a lot of this "attitude" is paper talk. He's an intelligent guy and I think in a counter attacking system along side Vardy would be terrifying. Not sure if it's him or Musa as a better finisher. I'm sure he'd give his all too if we signed him up. He's a lot to prove and is not the kind of guy to just take a pay cheque and leave his talent untested.
hackneyfox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 He's had 2 injuries in 2 years, he played 46 & 43 in the 2 seasons before the injuries and 41 games this season.
RoyFox Posted 21 May 2016 Posted 21 May 2016 Initially I thought this was a bad idea, however it's clear our recruitment strategy is : 1.Blistering pace 2. point to prove 3. ego under control 4. Suited to a counter attacking style, rather than 'tippy tappy'and 5. willing to run yourself into the ground for 95 minutes.Ranieri will give him renewed confidence, Wenger has almost ruined him, and he'd wreak havoc with Vardy and Mahrez

I'd love to see it happen but if it did, there might be another 5000-1 bet on the table relating to the chance of our medics raising the dead before Ranieri gets the Freedom of our City!
