We know Slimani is more or less sold cause we are buying Doost. He will play tomorrow against Porto and that's it. The president made a deal with him that even if the buy out clause is expired (in late June) if a team pays 30 million he will leave. Until today (afternoon) the info was that he was going to WBA but today at night there are reports that he is actually going to Leicester.

 

His agent loves to talk with the media. He has a big mouth (you will see...). If AS is reporting Leicester it's almost assured that he is the one telling them the info.

Cheers. Hopefully the rumours are true as we have apparently been looking at Slimani for a while and personally I've really wanted him. 

 

Will be be tuning in to watch you guys tomorrow night against our Champions League opponents to see how your team and Slimani get on!

Probably not a popular opinion but I was watching us play today hoping that we actually don't sign Slimani.

 

Do I think we need a striker that represents something a bit different to Okazaki, Musa and Vardy? Yes. Do I think that striker should be an upgrade on Leo where possible? Yes. Do I think that striker should be a starter in our team? No.

 

I don't deny we need a plan B but I love our current plan A and I don't think Slimani (or Leo) fits in to that.

 

If Slimani were cheap, I'd have him in a heartbeat. If Slimani was a young player with patience and time to grow, if have him in a heartbeat.

 

But I really worry about splashing the cash on another record signing to warm the bench. We don't play target man football. We play a disguised one striker system and that striker is Vardy.

 

He's done it incognito but really, Okazaki has been playing the Number Ten everyone wants for a year for us now, he's a midfielder more than a forward and he's currently in the form of his life. He enables Vardy in a way Leo doesn't and I don't think Slimani will.

 

Tldr: I really hope that if we sign Slimani, it doesn't represent a change in approach. I like our football.

Slimani is leaving Sporting and there is no doubt about it and he's  gonna play tomorrow his last game against Porto since Sporting are yet to get another striker in (most likely will be Dost) 

Don't know where he'll end up but he'll sure be playing in the PL this year , deal to be announced this Monday

AS is a very good source in Spain may be not as worldwide known as Marca but still a good source

Vardy is not and can not play week in week out?  Premier league, champions league , both cups and internationals. 

We need another forward, this is the one player I wanted us to sign this summer? Been linked for a very very  long time... hoping something in this!

Exactly what I've been trying to say. 

 

Think there's real potential for this to do as much harm as good. And at a crazy price. 

 

Lets hope we're proved very wrong.

I personally think Vardy will play less this season. Simply because, if we sign slimani, and along with musa, we have genuine quality replacements who offer slightly different things. People need to realize that what we pay for a player does not have any impact on the expectation of what werequire from them. For me, this signing would be the 'Deeney replacement', and considering he's cheaper, has more top flight and European experience, he does represent a 'bargain' in relative terms. When we're chasing a game at Porto and needing a goal to qualify,you have 2 subs left...Do you want to turn to musa and Ulloa, or Musa and Slimani?

The very serious Spanish daily AS announces the imminent departure of Algerian international to the Premier League. Former belouizdad just to get his visa for England could play his last game in the Sporting jersey tomorrow against FC Porto.

 
For its part the Spanish daily AS says Slimani is expected by Tuesday in England to engage with Leicester City after making an offer of up to 25 million euros, has agreed to pay the departure clause in international Algerian to 30 million .
