I've read that a few people are quite sceptical about signing another "starting" player. Thing is we've gone and got ourselves in a right old situation thanks to winning the league.....you needn't worry about quality players being on the bench, look at United, they've got Henrik Mickytarian on the bloody bench....it's a bit like being an average competitive swimmer, and then one day smashing your PB to qualify for team GB, suddenly you're like "bollocks I best up my game" and start prepping as people would performing at that level....

The reputation that comes with winning the prem is something we will be expected to uphold now, and let's be honest none of us want to see us fall away and be like Florrest talking about 'that time we did....'. We've got an opportunity now, something we've created for ourselves, we owe it to ourselves to splash the cash and bring in some serious quality. Like it or not we're no longer little Leicester city, I welcome signings of this magnitude.

Bring it on!

Why couldn't this be done 6 weeks ago? We knew all along the price it'd take to get him but we wait til 29th August to actually sign him.

1) it's not happened yet

2) perhaps we had other targets we preferred but couldn't get

3) perhaps sporting refused to sell until they had secured replacements

Good points. I think point 2 is probably the main reason.

Okazaki & Vardy are linking up beautifully at the minute, so hopefully Shinji keeps his place. But a Slimani & Musa partnership sounds like great strength in depth to me :scarf:

40m worth of strength in depth that won't want to sit on the bench?

Healthy.

Slimani will eventually take Shinji's place to be honest, but for now Shinji deserves to keep his place. Musa I'm guessing will rotate with Vardy/compete for LW.

But anyway, we have a lot of games and need to rotate regularly so whoever is third/fourth choice striker will still get a lot of game time.

Opening another bottle of wine after a night out at 2.30 am may have been a mistake. I'm away in the Peak Distict having been out  at a party in Sheffield. I don't have the ingredients for all that but magic red ibuprofen bullets will certainly feature. Thanks to whoever posted compliments about my spelling and grammar, each rubbish post took way too long to craft as I had to go back and correct everything. Morning all. Has he signed yet and has Finners come round to the idea at all?

The club we'll look at it from the marginal gains point of view. Slimani will likely score more than okizaki but by the sounds of it he puts in a shift too. He'll likely be an aerial threat that ulloa seems not to be consistently enough, again another improvement.

They'll all play the part and okizaki looks sharp, we just should expect more goals /assists from the second striker which Slimani may bring.

Would be a good addition

Surely their not going to let him play if the fee's been agreed.

And if he does it will be interesting to see whether he waves goodbye to the fans.

I'd like to see it, Slimani is an upgrade on what we have and I think any team should have at least three arial powerhouses in the team, put Slimani in with Morgan and Huth and we automatically become better at attacking and defending corners, Slimani and Vardy are amongst two of the best strikers in Europe and could be formidable with both knowing where the goal is. It's another string to our bow to add a goalscorer to relieve the pressure off Vardy and Mahrez.

If this goes through I'd like to think we would offload Ulloa to part fund this as a £10m, 5th choice striker who is 30 years old isn't efficient for us.

I reported this way back in June, whilst on the subject of Mahrez staying, and Kante leaving.

If if one more incoming deal is completed it will more likely than likely be this.

Is there actually anything concrete or even from a reliable source that this is anything but a rumour? The whole thing seems a bit odd, why would he be leaving for West Brom anyway?

This to me sounds like a goodbye message/match to me

Jorge Jesus: "Slimani tomorrow will play. Has always worked with great passion and with great commitment to the team "

It does, if he's coming to us there is less substance to the chat than usual. I'd like to see it, just seems a little odd. I would expect to be seeing it everywhere in our press if we were about to spend 30m on a striker. I saw the report in AS, but not much else. Just an inkling, doesn't feel right.

Has anyone seen this lad play? Is he fast? He seems like he can head the ball. IF this goes through how will he fit into the team?

Penalty box predator. Big and strong, a bit of a bully, great in the air. He isn't the quickest, but would hold the ball well, could make a good foil for Vardy. Good finisher, works hard and likes to drop into midfield to collect the ball.
