I've never quite understood what's wrong with Irelands Call. I get having political objections, mostly it's the rugby fans in the Republic unhappy at being told they shouldn't play their own anthem in their own capital. But musically it's alright, not the worst anthem in the world.

National pride is a fantastic thing, love a good celebration of culture and national identity. What's the alternative? We all change our flags to pastel colours and give up on international football entirely? If this tournament isn't about national pride, what's it about? Why bother, when we've already had a full season of domestic football? I'm all for multiculturalism. I love to travel, love to see our cities become more cosmopolitan, love sampling different country's traditions. Part of that is wanting to see them maintain them, take pride in them, embrace them. You can do all of that without turning to being some sort of jingoist white supremacist.
