Most games are dross. Extra time is often needed, and its mostly useless too, teams accept penalties most often. The Portugal goal being an exception. In the world cup, the group stage had loads of goals. The knockouts other than Brazil v Germany was dogpiss. Youre not going to go hell for leather when a mistake will see you out the tournament
