idk about Big Sam, we've had two managers to play absolutely disgusting football, I'd rather get someone a bit more positive and lose with a fight rather than a wimper. Tbh I've got no idea what our reach is anymore and who is actually a viable option.

Eddie Howe is the only Englishman I can think of.

Time for another foreigner I think.

I think Eddie Howe has the potential to be a very good England manager. But, at the same time he's doing an excellent job with Bournemouth at the moment.

Put it this way it's funny how when compare someone like Eddie Howe to Gareth Southgate, you see a massive difference yet some pundits are pushing one name more than the other. Howe took Bournemouth from the bottom of league two to the premier league in what five years, with almost no budget! Southgate has managed one club team Middlesbrough and in his three year spell there he got one thing out of that... relegation! Southgate is doing a great job with the under 21's but I think anyone could to be fair.

If Southgate gets appointed then I'll probably want nothing to do with England anymore, he's a nice guy but maybe too nice. He's got idiot written all over his forehead.

I loved how one of the pundits was like "not a foreigner, we've been down that route"... yeah and look how successful Sven was, at least we played in a few quarter finals.

Also we've never gone out in the group stage under a foreigner.

Looking through a list of names the one that stood out was Guus Hiddink. Very good international pedigree and gets the best out of players.

He got a bit lucky with refs in South Korea perhaps but Australia and Russia both performed above expectations and Russia in particular played some really good attacking stuff with him in charge. Did nothing wrong with Chelsea either.

The majority of the others are just wrong though. Howe has promise but hasn't done enough to warrant the England job. Likewise Nigel.

Redknapp & Hoddle are pro-Tottenham nobs who talk utter crap. Who on earth could want Hoddle after watching England games on ITV and listening to his nonsense?!

Shearer, Neville and Southgate have done nothing worth anything in management.

Fat Sam is a negative clogger, would be a hideous appointment. Rodgers has just got a job and wouldn't play the style that suits us since his mantra is possession football.

Pardew is embarrassing. Van Gaal and Martinez are shit. They're not having Claudio and Mourinho isn't going to go when he's just got the Man Utd job is he.

Pellegrini I'm not sure. He's hardly a motivator is he?

Very slim pickings.

If it is Southgate I'm just going to not care about England, because that just isn't moving forward at all and we will only get knocked out again by an average side early in a tournament

Marcelo Bielsa. It could go horribly wrong but I want a complete change in mindset and someone with a vision of what he wants to do. He ticks both boxes.

I'm sure it won't be a popular choice, but Tim Sherwood. Had a shit time with Villa, but so has everyone, and at least he might give the team a bit of fighting spirit.

Mind you, the fact i've even suggested it goes to show how bad the situation is.

The FA should re-appoint Roy Hodgson...

...So that they can sack him.

He doesn't deserve to come out of this with any dignity whatsoever.

Eddie Howe is, at the moment, overrated.

Don't get me wrong, he's done a fantastic job at Bournemouth. But he goes to Arsenal/Tottenham away and sets up his team up to try out pass them. He is very set on a specific style of play & at international tournaments you need a plan A, B & C.

I think with a few more years in the premiership he'll learn & adapt even more and become the best candidate for the England job. But right now he believes tiki-taka & possession football is the best way & ONLY way to play, which is simply not true.

Eddie or Fat Sam from that list - The FA would never employ Harry.

We need somebody with a brand or style of football that suits the personnel available.

If I'm honest, I would like further afield - it certainly shouldn't be Southgate.

Hoddle.

All is forgotten.

Unless you're disabled and deserve to be so due to you doing something bad in a former life.

Put my house in it that Southgate will be announced.

Same old FA bullshit, time to think, looking far and beyond etc etc

No one is interested!

3 man panel to look for the new man, we all know they are looking for a yes man! The FA are more bothered about their bank balance than their trophy cabinet! If it was ran by the passion of the fans we would certainly be getting passed the linked of Iceland and into the later stages of tournaments.

Have a 3 man 'expert' panel but I'd also love to see an unaffiliated 3 man supporters group assist with team selection and recruitment too

I was wondering about him. Did well for Oz and is now available. Probably strong enough to stand up to the FA as well.

Rafa Benitez mentioned on the radio, not really a bad name. Did recently suffer relegation with Newcastle but of course he was given the impossible task of keeping them up with six games to go. Needed more time there, however apart from that of course he's had success through europe won alot of cups through out of his career, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League, Europa League and even the Fifa World Club Cup. Got alot of experience with this country, managing Liverpool, Chelsea and currently Newcastle. So knows alot about our game.

He'd be a disastrous appointment in my opinion. I don't think he would be able to cope with immense pressure England managers come under. I think we need to appoint an English manager with a big personality. Someone like Big Sam, Pardew or Tim Sherwood.

Am I reading correctly?

Who on earth wants 'tactical Tim' as the international manager?

What?
