Hoddle dropping some very unsubtle hints in the press today about wanting the England gig.

So, call up Trippier, Mason & Carroll, move the whole operation to N17, change the name to Totenham Hotspur & prepare to fail, again.

I'd take Cantona over most mentioned tbf. Least the bloke has some pashun and no inbred love of Spurs. Mind you I think his IQ will be too high for the FA who appear to prefer retarded yes men. Hoddle would be oerfect for them.

this may read a little queer (no homo) but id like Alan Shearer in charge.

read fat sam has a clause in his sunderland contract allowing him to leave for england so i expect it will be him

First question asked by the media to Glenn hoddle if he becomes England manager again - so Glenn do you still believe that disabled people are paying the price by being bad in past lives - and then the media circus will continue

I can only assume you missed or have forgotten the shambles he was when briefly in charge on Newcastle and took them down. He'd end up being another Hodgson.

You're not seriously trying to compare Ranieri and Alan Shearer's managment abilities / situations are you?

Claudio had held many jobs prior to the Greece one and performed to a decent level. Evidence of his ability remainded. Shearer on the other hand has done one job, for about 3 months, was shit, and has never gone back to management after that. He isn't even very good on Match of the Day despite having researchers helping him out!

no but just because someone is shít in one job doesnt mean he'll be shít in another which is what you implied when you quoted my original post.

But he's done nothing in manangment since - so what do you base your approval on? Blind faith?

are you basing my approval on the fact Shearer hasnt managed since?

he hasnt been handing in his cv for every managers job available, he's a pundit on tv.

thinking Shearer will be crap based on 3 months at an already struggling newcastle several years ago may also require a little blind faith.

It's insular. It's blinkered. It's cutting my nose off to spite my face, but I want an English manager.

There is a paucity of choice. Whoever it is, they have to take no crap from our pampered overhyped "superstars" and they have to select defenders who actually defend.

For me, it has to be Big Sam.

No it's not blind faith to understand he was poor there, never took up another coaching or managing position afterwards to gain further experience and doesn't even have the required coaching badges.

Your entitled to a view of course - but when it's a stupid one you have to be prepared for people to call you out on it.

i think i said id want shearer in charge. that is my opinion.

seems a bit cruel of you to tell me my opinion is stupid but i suppose thats the way debates end sometimes, with someone calling somebody stupid because they cant enforce their opinion via debate.

So what makes you think Shearer would be good then, what was it that won you over?

Id have absolutely no faith in Shearer becoming a success with England.

as for the discussion youd had regarding Claudio, hes had a great club career and would certainly be a safer choice in any managerial job for that reason. He has demonstrated he can achieve with players of different levels of ability in any different scenarios.

Gary Neville has already proved that you can draw as many lines on a screen as you want and talk a good game, but prove you can walk the walk and then youll get a chance.
