MattCan Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Giroud .. Pogba .. nuff with the hype .. Congrats to Portugal.
Danno Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Pepe has to be one of if not the most underrated centre backs around. Quality.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Yeah but if england won the way Portugal just did, would not celebrate because we didnt play great football? I would love it of course and yes Portugal deserve it but you can't say they are a great team because of winning it though.
Samilktray Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Can't wait to have a celebratory Nandos. Hope they do buy one get one free to celebrate
Swarles Barkley Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I would love it of course and yes Portugal deserve it but you can't say they are a great team because of winning it though. I never said Portugal were a great team. I just said that you cant hate them for the way they won it!
promised land Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Why the hell would Pepe single out Kante to whisper something in his ear? He can jog on if he's trying to tap him up! He was asking him what Leicester night life was like for when he moves here.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I never said Portugal were a great team. I just said that you cant hate them for the way they won it! I don't hate them I hate the format as it allows this to happen easier than just the 16 team format
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Yeah but if england won the way Portugal just did, would we not celebrate because we didnt play great football? The Spurs fans wouldn't, they complain at our lack of possession statistics.
Swarles Barkley Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I don't hate them I hate the format as it allows this to happen easier than just the 16 team format Yeah agreed. The beuatiful irony that this is platinis brain child and it ended up costing his team the most
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I don't hate them I hate the format as it allows this to happen easier than just the 16 team format Hmmmm... Greece and Denmark don't support your case.
Dan Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 They've had a lot of luck throughout the tournament. The format has seen them through a very tame group, they've ended up on one half of the draw that avoids Italy, Germany, Spain and ended up with in my eyes nowhere near the best team from the other half in the final. Ultimately they're one-off games but France are nowhere near as good as Germany or Italy in my eyes and France beating Germany was a bit of a freak result. France were bang average throughout the tournament. Admire the way they kept their nerve but I think they've had a lot of good fortune throughout it. You've got to love the karma of this though. Platini gives the go-ahead to an idea that does nothing but laces his own pockets that bit more and his country go on to lose the final to a country who finish 3rd in their group.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Hmmmm... Greece and Denmark don't support your case. Both didn't finish third out of four teams to progress... so I stated it was easier to have a team like Portugal win it now as opposed to 16 team format
ScouseFox Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 portugal wouldve come first or second if only the top two went through the group. they finished behind iceland (who beat us). they beat croatia (who finished above spain and in the groups became the best team in europe) they beat wales (the best team OF ALL TIME) and then beat france in their own ground in their euros. not sure how anyone can argue that they aren't deserved winners.
Wymsey Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Karma for not getting Kante on. He would've tackled like a mouse chasing a cheese on a string.

Chester Dontlie Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 My dad started snorring during the break, only woke up when he heard tater screaming Eder's name. Did he miss something? Not really. For fuchs sake I knew Poland should've spank these cristinas. What a borefest of a tournament this was anyway (bar few matches, mainly Iceland games) and the final was no exception... I was all for this new formula before the knockout stage but now sadly have to agree with naysayers. Also that fuchsing ref soiling Germany v France game. Just can't wait to see Russkies being dragged in all the way to semis in two years. Bring on the next season already...

How've you worked that one out?
AjcW Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I lost all interest in France when I saw Pogba tear strips off sissoko who was their MOTM for no reason whatsoever just because he was angry at conceding a goal.. Sissoko went off in ****ing tears, hope we don't have to see Pogba in the Prem, he's just another Yaya waiting to happen! Well done Portugal, team effort, if any forum should be getting behind them it's this one! Nice to see Nani has matured too, might be a decent little signing for Valencia! And as much as I hate Pepe he was amazing tonight
ScouseFox Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 How've you worked that one out? partly cos it's just how they roll. getting through play offs to qualify, finishing 3rd in this group and going through as the best worst team on goal difference. they love it. if you needed to finish 2nd they'd have finished 2nd with an equaliser in injury time to get second spot on head to head records or some shit. also cos if iceland or austria had needed to beat them they'd probably have lost. personally think if we're being honest a crazy amount is being made about them finishing 3rd. they battered all three teams in the group just couldnt get a win, and they knew they'd qualify if they finished third. people seem to be going on like they finished third and went out and then uefa just then decided they'd let just portugal through in third for a bit of a laugh. they were the rules we've all known about for a year or two, not sure why it's an issue.

I said after the Croatia win that I'd not put it past them to sneak it all the way. The rules were there but they were criticised prior to the tournament. I don't begrudge them of the win because they've turned up where others haven't, which is ultimately what matters, do think they've had a lot of good fortune though.
Chester Dontlie Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Played 7 Draw 6 Win 1 CHAMPIONS Can't argue with that. Also, just to remind those who forgot, Greece won 4 of their 6 games at the Euros in 2004, beating other finalists Portugal twice.
Donut Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 England did something similar at Italia 90. Only team they managed to beat in 90 mins was Egypt. And that was a 1-0 shithouse. Portugal deserved to lift the trophy. France offered the square route of f all tonight other than Sissoko, Pogba never got off the bus and they never once tried to lift the tempo. Played straight into Portugal's hands.
Jaspa Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Right result, put a smile on my face after a pretty average tournament along side an awful match; although had that freekick gone in from Eders handball I wouldve enjoyed it somemore. Limpdick from France tonight, they had chances, they had the class, they had some luck and they were flaccid. Portugal werent overly impressive either apart from the keeper, I really like the midfielders Sanchez & Andre Gomes, defenders also put a shift in. Battle of the Chickens tonight, the right team won. Why not use Kante?
z-layrex Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Just been partying in Stockwell with thousands of Portuguese. What a result.
Livid Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 Me and Mrs L both got Portugal in office sweepstakes other than that the whole four weeks will be largely forgettable.
