Manwell Pablo Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Played 7 Draw 6 Win 1 CHAMPIONS In all seriousness it's an utter joke and they need to look at the format. If you get through your group with three points you do so because you've somehow been lucky enough to finish 2nd not third.
Mikey Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 What did Pepe just say to Kante as he walked through... Buzzing for Ronaldo, but was a poor game and a fairly poor tournament. Bring on the club season.
foxy boxing Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Brits on holiday in the algarve will be celebrating with their hosts!
Kitchandro Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Kitchandro had a bundle on France it seems. Not at all, but I used to love these international tournaments and it's been a real joke of a competition won by a horrible, horrible team. Any football lover should be disappointed.
ScouseFox Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Superb victory for Portugal and I am ecstatic for Ronaldo. He's won on both the international (as manager) and club stages now, what a career. yeah man, those "but maradona pele major tournaments something they best" fellas who pop up every time someone tries to argue he isn't the greatest player to ever put on a pair of footy boots can get put to sleep now. tera.
Orange seat Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Why the hell would Pepe single out Kante to whisper something in his ear? He can jog on if he's trying to tap him up!
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I hate all this 'they deserve great credit' just because they managed to win the tournament. Why do they deserve credit? They made a mockery of international football by winning this. They were utter shit in all the games and should have been out in the first round! Poor winners of a poor tournament. And it sums it up that Ronaldo is getting all the credit for tonight for his touch line antics and not the players who played. France got what they deserved though. Kante and martial should have been seen a lot earlier and they brought payet off who's their best player. They were crap tonight. Portugal obviously have a very solid defence, yet again they keep a clean sheet. And with that you have every chance of winning something. I'd be very happy if we go to Old Trafford and Emirates etc next season, see the game out with a solid defensive display and win 1-0.
Izzy Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 I'm actuall quite pleased for Portugal. Small nation, close knit team, good fans. Fair play to em beating France in thier own back yard.
MC Prussian Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Laughing at all the prawn brigade near the stairs with their smartphones recording upside down.

I'd be very happy if we go to Old Trafford and Emirates etc next season, see the game out with a solid defensive display and win 1-0. And yet they conceded 3 to Hungary. Qualified 3rd in the weakest group and the only team they beat in 90 mins was Wales. Great tactical discipline in the knockouts but it took them a long time to get going and it turned out that "getting going" involved just being able to defend competently.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 yeah man, those "but maradona pele major tournaments something they best" fellas who pop up every time someone tries to argue he isn't the greatest player to ever put on a pair of footy boots can get put to sleep now. tera. Ronaldo is in the top bracket Scouse, without a doubt. Top player. Scored in how many European championships now? 4? Nobody can say he doesn't deliver on the big stage. I like him, always will.
fazzyfox Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Well I've learnt something tonight, there's a lot of Moths in France.

He didn't even have a foot in the win! But keep on banging about it - hope you're out in the streets with the Portugal flag tonight.
Tuna Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 This reminds me of the time Leicester City won the premier league.
Fox92 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 He didn't even have a foot in the win! But keep on banging about it - hope you're out in the streets with the Portugal flag tonight. Like I said above he's scored in 4 (or 5?) European championships now, not sure how you can argue with that.
AKCJ Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Shame that Messi is a tax frauding knob but you're having a mare if you don't think he's the greatest footballer ever. Ronaldo is a very close second.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Portugal finished 3rd and moved to the easier side of the draw, whilst the likes of Italy Germany all finished 1st yet ended up on the much harder side. The whole thing is a joke anyway that you can finish 3rd out of four teams and win!
Swarles Barkley Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 You just cannot hate on Portugal, especially as Leicester fans. They found a way to win and in the end thats all that matters If you are against the way they played you are sounding like all those Arsenal and tottenham fans we spent the whole season moaning about. Ill admit I didnt want them to win but now they have congrats to them

Guest Col city fan Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 As i said earlier, well done to Portugal. I fear the backlash of this though cos it's only going to encourage other teams in other tournaments to try to emulate the playing style. Ie. Sit back, be tight, don't commit men going forward too much and hope to sneak one. And we've seen far too much of that in the tournament. For the good of football, it would have been better won by an attacking, exciting side getting the ball forward quickly and hitting with bags of pace. City did the world of football an awful lot of good last season. Tonight's result takes it back a notch I fear. At least at international level. They had a game plan which evolved as the tournament progressed i.e. They became better at it and executed it brilliantly. But it's not one that does 'football' any good IMO.
Wymsey Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Ronaldo was faking that knee mishap wasn't he. But Pepe and other CB were rock solid. Pogba is just like Schlupp, pacey and powerful but can be frustratingly wasteful.
Swarles Barkley Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 It isn't like Leicester, we played great football and won the league... Yeah but if england won the way Portugal just did, would we not celebrate because we didnt play great football?
