ousefox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 The Sun will no doubt paint him as a hero when he does pass away despite the fact that they have regularly contributed to his decline and have made a fair amount of revenue from his misery. I ****ing hate that newspaper. Why the **** people buy it I just don't know. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Cheap and spoon fed news. Unfortunately that is what most people think they need.
Izzy Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I do fear he's beyond help now. The likes of Lineker and especially Gary Mabbutt and others have tried really hard to support him over the years, but he always seems to end up back in this state. What a shame. One of the very best English players I've ever seen in the flesh and glad I got to watch him a few times in his prime. Great talent...

SystonFox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 It's fvckin shite mate and anyone who buys it well I pity them if I am honest with you. They're the kind of people who watch good morning Britain and listen to little mix albums. Worse than spurs fans if I am honest pal
ScouseFox Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 i watch good morning britain and listen to little mix

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 I very rarely get emotionally involved with the states of people in the public eye but he's a bloody hero to me. My first two footballing memories I can vividly recollect are Claridge v Palace and Gazza against Scotland. Personally think he's looked worse than that and gotten through it but it doesn't make it any less tragic.
TAFKA Castroneves Posted 12 July 2016 Posted 12 July 2016 There's always a pattern with Gazza sadly - and he generally speaking seems to relapse or hit the bottle hard for long periods during difficult times in his life. This "racism scandal" is yet another example of that - and this is where he is right now. While i'm not one to tolerate racism - Gazza doesn't have a bone like that in his body, you can see with how he handles himself he's very emotional - and when he speaks he doesn't neccesarily think, he's impulsive (one of the reasons he was such a good player as well) and was trying to act funny/jovial and entertain, it wasn't meant maliciously in the slightest. The press seem to forget others in a similair vein (Robin Williams for one example in his stand up) who ten years ago would have made a similar joke or comment and because everyone knew this individual wasn't actually racist - it's been taken in the right way. If he hasn't gone through enough with the media hacking his phone, turning him and his family against each other - they have seized upon another opportunity to kick him into the ground and he's back on the bottle as he's being made out to be the villian. Yes, there is some niavity there from Gazza, the world has changed dramatically in what you can or can't say in the last few years, but he's no racist. I hope when the court case is over and shit settles down one way or another that he can get back on the wagon, he's still got something important in there somewhere to offer the world, there's just something about Gazza. Fingers crossed for him. edit - i forgot about his nephue dying as well, that of course only contributes further.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 I still don't think he ever got over Hoddle dropping him from the England squad. Really can't recollect whether it was the Euros or the World Cup? Gazza was absolutely devastated to be dropped and never looked the same player, or bloke, again. He'll probably still go on for some time now and probably die ultimately of some infection he can't fight off. He looks a wreck!

Although I think according to most people close to him, he's been a piss head his entire adult life and he has some demons that somewhat dwarf not making a football squad.
Finnegan Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 You don't become what Gazza is because of one thing in your life disappoints you.
foxy boxing Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 I feel sorry for his children they deserve a dad who is always their to help them and to guide them and be a part of their live he should think about them and what this situation is doing to them. he needs help and should be getting it from those so called life long friends of his. i wish him well and to always think of his family first and foremost.
site manager Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 Great Player. But, im sorry, he has had enough chances now and more help than anyone in his situation could ever dream of getting. Sad.
Thracian Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 Someone should tell The Sun that we don't need periodic pictures to remind us what a mess Gazza's made of his life. What do they do it for?- Because it surely wouldn't sell their newspaper to me! I don't want to see people rubbed in the dirt or presented as objects of pity or ridicule. I want to see of hear of their achievements and to enjoy the inspiration they offer. The feeling of celebrating what's possible I suppose.
Wymsey Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 The Sun would want anyone famous to suffer and to only blame that person for it. The newspaper never changes its stance.
urban.spaceman Posted 13 July 2016 Posted 13 July 2016 One of the few truly worthy of the tag 'footballing legend'; I'm forever privileged to have seen him play at Filbert Street twice and one of those in a City shirt. Such a shame what's happening to him as not so long ago he was clean and apparred on the mend, but it seems he's now on a terminal downward spiral and can't be helped
Durnerz Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 In his book he describes turning to drink more often in London playing for Spurs and it got heavier in Italy playing for Lazio. Since he left Newcastle he described feeling lonely, its the same reason Keith Floyd and i'm sure many others have turned to drink. It'll be a constant cycle of health and decline until the body can't take anymore.
