sylofox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 After signing a five-year contract, Kante said: ‘I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe. It’s a dream come true for me. ‘The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down. ‘My first season in English football was very special and now I hope to go on to achieve even more during my time as a Chelsea player. Thanks for last season now fvck off. Shame we can't use world war 2 rules and shoot him as a deserter.
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I find the Walsh to Everton story far more concerning.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I woke up this a.m. and just recalled all the events of yesterday - felt like I'd lost something precious and irreplaceable..I guess you're talking about one of those Pokemon things that appear to be all the rage? Which one was it Greedychu?I'm excited about seeing Mendy, Musa et al and moving on to a brilliant season, the challenge of our title defence and the Champions League.
Thracian Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I woke up this a.m. and just recalled all the events of yesterday - felt like I'd lost something precious and irreplaceable.. Cheer up GB. Kante was wonderful but there's no comfort lamenting the past - we have to look forwards, and fast. I'm just sad at the guy abandoning such a special adventure.
katieakita Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 If he wanted champions league then he should have stayed for another year given yknow we're in it and Chelsea aren't. Besides - man utd with mourinho, Liverpool with Klopp, man city with Guardiola, arsenals inability to not miss out, plus us, spurs and west ham starting to ruffle a few feathers - no guarantee Chelsea will get into the CL for 17/18 either. He's not gone to real, barca, atletico, bayern or PSG where he's realistically guaranteed letter stages of CL year in year out, he's bailed out to a rebuilding project in a suddenly very competitive league which may soon face it becoming harder to qualify for the CL (since we kept getting told last season we'd cost the prem it's fourth qualifying spot) This. Chelsea's title defence ended when they drew at home to Swansea on the first day? Player power had them turn on their most successful manager ever and the squad struggled to finish mid table. Not fond of Chelsea and don't really follow them but as an outsider it looks like they face some major problems and not sure how they turn round last season and what caused it. How long will they give the new manager is the Russian getting bored ? They look like a team on the slide.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Cheer up GB. Kante was wonderful but there's no comfort lamenting the past - we have to look forwards, and fast. I'm just sad at the guy abandoning such a special adventure. That adventure will still continue Thracian. Wasn't Mendy our No1 target prior to N'Golo joining? I personally am convinced that the club's main contingency plans/ activity were always around him leaving. I have total faith in the Don.
David Hankey Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Another one season wonder, just like Cambiasso. Not interested in building a career with the Champions of the English Premier League but instead "happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in Europe" - bollocks!! Chelsea were also-rans last season and nothing before Abramovich ploughed his millions in.
Spudulike Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 He will always be one of the Immortals but the manner of his departure has left a sour taste. A few appretiative words to the fans and club would've been appropriate. Very disrepectful to his ex-team mates and manager. Advice to N'Golo, get yourself a PR advisor.
Thracian Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Kante may be unique - as the only Leicester player I can't recall writing a single critical word about during his ridiculously successful playing time at the club. He may have sold his soul for money in some people's eyes, but to me he was supremely good value. A bloke who did his job brilliantly - week in, week out and was a massive asset.
foxinsocks Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Chelsea needs a lot of fixing... at back in the middle and up front... as conte asks costa to stay on... I think they will struggle for a few years yet. .. it takes time as utd are finding out Our club is in great shape off and on the field. Cr now has to manage our transition in to a winning machine... yet we are nearer than chelsea I think kante was poorly advised... i expect his agent is richer by his move
Buzzell Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I just hope we finish higher then Chelsea next season now.
Thracian Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 That adventure will still continue Thracian. Wasn't Mendy our No1 target prior to N'Golo joining? I personally am convinced that the club's main contingency plans/ activity were always around him leaving. I have total faith in the Don. I'm agree completely and am not pessimistic about the future at all. Our success so far has been a bonus - we're still a work in progress that's way ahead of schedule - and our players, however long any individual choses to stay, have done so much to promote that and deserve our thanks. Our job is to maintain the momentum and not start feeling bitter or sorry for ourselves whenever there's a setback.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I'm under no illusion just how important Kante was to last season's success. For ages, I'd been calling out for a CM who could defend as well as they could attack...in Kante we found him. And he was simply just about the best central midfielder I'd ever seen in a City shirt. We even achieved our title playing in predominantly a 4-4-2! The whole thing was amazing... But that's history...he's gone..and seemingly for many under a cloud, which is a real shame. It's sad that a player who was so admired could generate such vitriol on this forum for doing what he thought he should do. He could have done it better, for sure, but the change of feeling toward him has been incredible really. Do I care? Well only time will tell. I'm going to wait and see how we set up (eg. Will we STILL be 4-4-2, or will we now adapt our formation) and I'm excited to see our new signings step up to the mark. But to reiterate, we HAVE lost an absolutely integral player to how we played last season and now the lad who was pretty much loved by most, seems hated by many. Sad day for the club, all things given, but we're LCFC and we will bounce back in some way. I just hope we don't now go on to lose other players from this squad. Success in football is never only based upon talent, we've proven it's mainly based upon solidarity and teamwork. I so hope this team is not gradually dissembled.
Matt Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Meh, we move on. Was more cut up about losing Cambiasso last season if i'm honest. I'm not angry i'm just disappointed, no skin of Kante's nose i'm sure, but if winning the league, a club of our 'size' winning the league, isn't enough to keep a player from going to a club that finished mid-table and hasn't got Champions League, then there is something wrong with this game. I just don't understand it. How are 'smaller' clubs expected to compete at the top when a 'smaller' team can win the league and still lose top players to a 'big' club who massively underachieved, someone replied to similar comments I made yesterday about winning the league and 1 season not breaking the mould, it's need to be done consistantly, well that works both ways, how can it be done consistantly if the players fuck off? Southampton being a prime example of this. These players (Should any others leave)/Kante could have made something of themselves here, actually been a legend (He'll always go down in history here, but a legend after 1 season and leaving in the manner he is? No legend to me), he could have broke the mould making us a top club/challenging at the top, not just him, the team, but he's quite a big cog in that team.
Lcfc_lass10 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I find the Walsh to Everton story far more concerning. This. Rather lose Kante than Walsh.
Zapp Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 The only reason I can think is he simply supports Chelsea.
pazzerfox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 One trick pony. All he could do was tackle and intercept, hadn't got a killer ball in him, couldn't score for toffee, couldn't cross. Just an enthusiastic Sunday morning league player who hadn't been on the pop the night before. Easily replaced
foxinsocks Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 It has been awesome to have seen kante at lcfc even for one season... he will always be a part of our journey. We need to value what we have when we have it.. change is inevitable. I am excited to see us kick on next season. We helped kante and he helped us... that's not so bad.. we got to walk together on our journeys....for a while
Filbertfan Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Bye bye Kante. No boo or clap from me when you return to the KP with your new club. One place above CFC will do for me next year.
weller54 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 O Mendy You came and we sold Kante to Chelsea Yes they took him away O Mendy..
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 O Mendy You came and we sold Kante to Chelsea Yes they took him away O Mendy.. Classic!
Matt Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 I think it would have softened the blow abit, if had he gone for more money to me. That's another thing that sickens me. £32m? When Sterling Tom Daley goes for £50m? Pogba is worth £100m? Kante is worth atleast £60 - £70m in comparison. I know it means nothing to us - It's not our money, but even so. The world of Football transfers has gone crazy, expect for Leicester, get any of our players you want for knock down prices!
Koke Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 He didn't leave for football reasons, that's the most frustrating thing. He left so he can buy a big house in London and feel like a big player. Bye bye I'd rather see players that value our club. Newsflash my friend. Most players move on for monetary reasons. Andy King is still with us because no big club has come in for him. He's not with us due to sheer loyalty.
