Judging by this performance...

Kante has gone, and he made a lot of what we were about last season, the way we played worked because of him, we now need to start to spend and fill that gap because he is a massive loss.

He is a massive loss, but so was losing Cambiasso. Kante wasn't even a starter in the first few games of the season last year. We'll adapt. Amartey looks like he could fill the Kante role.

What's the excuse going to be when we lose community shield next week? Jet lag?

There's no attempt at putting together an argument there, just an insistence on panicking.

You're assuming that we're going to keep playing poorly because we've not played well today. But as we've seen before, 'bad' pre-season results are often no indication of a bad competitive season.

I can't wait for the reactions should Messi or Suarez score against us on Wednesday. God forbid we don't shut out the worlds best strikers in a friendly :crylaugh:

Every bloody year...

Pre season games mean nothing. Some of our worst pre seasons have resulted in a great season. It's not an indicator of anything.

Well I hope the management don't accept such a performance, and realise we need to strengthen massively. It was a complete mess today

Who should we go out and buy? Some are saying spend but who?

PSG are a very good side and they look like are going to be much more a team now zlatan has left. Better than anything we have faced previously in an environment not suited to us.

Not ideal to get best heavily but not embarrassing.

im aware of what it was, but the performance and result does not make for a positive reading, I'm disappointed with a battering I don't care who it is against or under what circumstances.

We experimented. We left players out to give game time to others. We had new players slotting into a line up that barely changed last season. It's about building fitness, sharpness, understandings etc.

I'm pretty sure Chelsea, with a very strong side, lost something like 6-1 against Mansfield or Oxford or someone like that a few years back and then went on to win the league.

I remember some on here saying we wouldn't compete in the prem after a 1-1 draw at Mansfield last year

A few 1 goal wins and a couple of draws and everyone was losing their minds lol

I understand friendlies throw up some odd results, but this was under a huge spotlight and a lot of people were watching and spent money to see this expecting more... this wasn't no rubbish pre season against lower league opposition...

That battering was dishes out by some of the finest players in Europe. They would probably beat anyone in the premier league, easily.

I don't care who was watching, we're there to prepare not to entertain. So what if the world was watching, let them believe that was the real us, they were wrong about us for most of last year, they assume we'll fall away this year. I don't give a **** what they think, as long as we keep performing when it matters.

Then it's their fault for not realising friendly games are meaningless nonsense.

Some pluses:

Hernandez looked good. Composed and skillful with a good long throw. I see him as a CB.

Chilwell also didn't look out of his depth, though could have stopped their second.

Amartey generally very good. 2 of our best chances fell to him. Both were just a yard off spectacular.

Mendys and Musa the jury is out.

Gray looked sharp. He and Mahrez will get us goals. Drinky looked good too.

The rest of the team looked jaded and off the pace.

Two weeks to go, two more games to get it right and Hull are no PSG!

I agree there's no point in dwelling over a friendly performance but there's also no point in fooling yourself that there were any pluses! All the players looked awful (Gray being maybe the only exception) The only good thing to come from it was some match fitness.

I get annoyed by the people getting too worried over games like this but equally it's irritating seeing people pretending there were loads of pluses when there clearly wasn't!

There is always more to learn from (and post about!) In a loss than a win.

Panicking is premature, but there were some positives amongst the negatives today. Plenty of time to put things right.

Another plus:

Other teams will have cooled about buying some of our players today!

Wish people would stop bringing up Cambiasso. Kante is a bigger loss (or at least looks like a bigger loss so far). He was real box to box and it doesn't look like we have that.
