The court dealt with eight cases of people street trading without a licence or consent in Raw Dykes Road, near King Power Stadium, Leicester, on May 7, when City were playing Everton. All of the defendants were found guilty and sentenced in their absence. The merchandise on sale included blue and white checkered flags, T-shirts, foam fox-head hats, jester hats, scarves and horns. An order was made for all the items to be forfeited. One offender was charging £2 for football fans to have their photos taken with a replica cup, using their own phones, and took between £80 and £100 before he was stopped by Leicester City Council's licensing enforcement officers. Fans at the King Power stadium for Leicester City's match against Everton Two of the traders said they believed that they could trade because they held pedlar's licences, not knowing that they were not valid in the city. The illegal traders were: Penny Lloyd (29), of Eyres Monsell, Leicester, who took around £100 from selling brown and white and blue and white foam fox-head hats. She told the officer she did not know it was illegal to trade in the streets. Lloyd was fined £60 with £30 victim surcharge and £396 costs. Goutan Passad Sahay (25), of Thomas Street, Leicester, who said he was a student working for his uncle and had taken only £5. He was fined £220 with £30 victim surcharge and £396 costs. George Bolton (61), of Keightley, West Yorkshire, who had sold three shirts at £10 each after just 10 minutes. He was fined £229 with £30 victim surcharge and £396 costs. Stephen Evans (51), of Huyton, Merseyside, who refused to answer any questions. He was fined £220 with £30 victim surcharge and £396 costs. Paul Newton (52), of Leigh on Sea, who said he had just arrived and had taken £100 at the most. He was fined £220 with £30 victim surcharge and £396 costs. Fans at the King Power stadium for Leicester City's match against Everton John Scott (54), a pedlar's licence-holder of Southend on Sea, who also said he had taken only £5 and that he believed that having a pedlar's licence allowed him to trade in the street. He was fined £145 with £30 and no costs. James Wright (42), a pedlar's licence-holder of Salford, said having his goods confiscated meant he was £240 out of pocket. He was fined £145 with £32 victim surcharge and £148 costs. Stephen Capper (57), of Worsley, Manchester, who was the photograph trader. Apart from the replica cup, he also had printed pictures of the team and another of Jamie Vardy for fans to have their photograph taken with. He told the council officer he had done the same at Old Trafford and had been asked by Sky Sports News and a Danish TV company if they could borrow the cup. He was fined £145 with £30 costs and £396 costs. After the hearings, Councillor Sue Waddington, assistant city mayor for jobs and skills, said: "Illegal street trading often involves counterfeit goods and has an impact on the shops who pay their taxes to trade here. It also leaves shoppers with no protection if the goods are faulty. "This is a good outcome which helps us to protect the rights of businesses and consumers in the city." Great Boos Up Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 To be honest, this all kept in with carnival atmosphere that day. I know they probably distorted their earnings, but it was a surreal day. I doubt that the enforcers and court costs were anywhere near the fine costs. We all knew they were naff but still bought something just to enjoy the moment.

leaky Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Sad to see nobody was sentenced to death for selling half and half scarves.
EGBFitness Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 In all fairness the club didn't have any stock left anyway so it wasn't like they was taking profits away from the club I don't believe in knock off items but you can understand the supply and demand at the time
erlee Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Yes,,,, this is how most progressive modern society works.. we don't want them peasants peddling stuff anywhere un-authorized
Ashley Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Actually found it pathetic how even current Leicester fans on social media sites even made money off us winning the Premier League. Doing anything for a quick 5 minutes of fame and to make a few bucks. Sad cvnts
Tuna Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Nice to see our taxes being put to good use rounding up criminal masterminds.
tom27111 Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 I'm curious to know what kind of idiot would pay to have a photo taken by someone else on their own mobile phone???

I was stood outside that bar & grill place near the hotel and watched 3 police officers packing away some guy selling some knock-off rubbish (can't remember what it was) and then packing away the trophy guy. Firstly, people sell shit to coincide with things like this all the time - opportunists (as shit as these might have been) but not really harming anybody. I can't see the club losing much money due to a few people pushing a bit of crap merchandise around the ground on that day. Secondly, WTF kind of use of 3 police officers is that?

It was pretty special watching people take their phone back off him when they realised that was what he was doing. People were literally lining their kids up next to the fake trophy and getting them to smile then he was like '£2 to take the photo'. Was jokes.
fuchsntf Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Stupidity has no bounds.. Judt for the bar room lawyers.. Whats the difference between legal and illegal street traders, selling rubbish at ridiculous prices, and counterfeit article. All football/sport articles are rubbish. The replica shirts are rubbish, and poor quality legal or not. Funny thing is I could take an original replica kit/polo/t-shirt, to Asia or even poland, ask an individual clothier to make me a better equivilant, with better stiching and material for less money. The normal high street and sport artical shops are rubbish anyway... The pity is in the late 50s maybe through to the late 70s, many a leicester/leeds teenage girl or boy, really knew quality or lack of it, when buying clothes...They were either working in the trade, or were brought up by relations in the trade. The then new boutiques knew their customers wouldnt take trash, Boss, etccwouldnt of got a look in. Another thing, yes its different times but Leicester, Nottingham girls knew how to dress for a Thursday ( often payday), Friday, Saturday night out.. Tracksuits or sport shoes would of been really frowned upon, even by the least snobbish of girls. I dont know where they are now, but A big thank you to all of you girls...lets say the girls of our city in those days earnt more than the boys, Hosiery and shoe towns were know as women towns. whether at Baileys, Fusion, Annabelles, grannies, Palais.....God you girls looked fantastic....broke a many boys hearts, and so bloody innocent you werent... So if your grannie is now somewhere between 58-72 you can bet she was a smasher, knew quality clothes, with eyes shut , and laughingly left some joker, waiting in the cold rain...or paid whether boyfriend or just friend, to get into the nite clubs, or that 1st pint of the night... Lads like me taking an apprenticeship or trainees took home 4-6 quid a week, the girls 10-18 quid...then around 72, the golden age..2-3rd year apprentice 1st ca 30 quid then a jump to 70quid...just think, a london (dirty) weekend with drink, taxi, hotel, train journey, saturday meal 12 quid..Extra 3 quid for a Bernies, or a curry on Sunday, all for 2.Then a last cuddle and snog....Carnaby or sunday quality clothes market, were not then mind boggling prices, leagal or illegal street trader or not, we knew the difference, between quality and trash, girls even more so... Sorry just reminiscing...ahh where do you go my lovely, when your alone in your sleep..
ozleicester Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 What a waste of police and court time. Corporate greed runs the country
ben_lcfc Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 After all of the publicity surrounding fake merchandise sales and traders cashing in on Leicester's success, the owners are selling fake shirts in their King Power shops throughout Thailand! They are available for the equivalent of £17.... You can see that they are missing all the usual puma markings (despite them being a carbon copy of Puma's shirts) and that they manufactured by a different company. Check them out below: http://www.kingpoweronline.com/en/brands/leicester-city-30245--1/lcfc-leicester-city-football-club-replica-2016 http://www.kingpoweronline.com/en/brands/leicester-city-30245--1/lcfc-leicester-city-football-club-replica-away-thai-2016-2017 http://www.kingpoweronline.com/en/brands/leicester-city-30245--1/lcfc-leicester-city-football-club-replica-3rd-away-thai-2016-2017 How are they getting away with that? It's quite embarrassing really!

You'd all be complaining then!
GaelicFox Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 Maybe they should have been policing the crowd and we wouldn't have had stewards assaulted and morons trying to break into the ground between gates 48 and 54 ! Priorities
Guest LCFC_World Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 In my opinion, this is stupid. Someone who took £5 getting fined in the £100s... They seen the opportunity and had a go at making a bit of money, not the end of the world.
foxes21 Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 was this really necessary? the blokes were just trying to make a living like the rest of us & weren't harming anybody.

RowlattsFox Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 To be fair the blokes selling horns on the parade day were ****ing annoying!!! Other than that, they are harmless really and a waste of a courts time.
Illusion35 Posted 5 August 2016 Posted 5 August 2016 I quite like the knock off chequered champions flag I bought from them to be fair
