Grewks Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Drinkwater. Thought he was class. I was extremely worried pre-season and whether or not he had been made to look good last year by kante. But today shows how hard this lad works. It was a 'Kanbiasso' performance from Danny. Spreading the ball about first time a la esteban and picking up the ball like N'golo. We lost the game despite him being the best midfielder on the pitch, as unfortunately, he was joined by the worst midfielder on the pitch. We wouldn't have lost had he been partnered by ex lower league and Leicester reject Clucas, who was everything King wasn't.
Juvenile Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Agreed, hopefully Mendy will be in for Arsenal but we do need to buy a step in. We can't rely on King, that is clear to see. RB CB and CDM.
Jimothy Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Need to get Amartey in midfield, he's the natural Kante replacement.

SystonFox Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Amartey looked good when he came on. atmosphere pre match and first half was class. Second half even after we scored the fans were poor. I was stood bang in the middle of our corner row S. hull deserved their victory. Fair play to them
st albans fox Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Hope to be proved wrong but I'm yet to see in amartey what some others do. king hasnt had had a long preseason and in my opinion, it was poor management to stick him in a two today in what was bound to be a congested area.
lgfualol Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I would like to see Amartey, drinky and mendy mid 3 if we dont buy anyone new. Amartey will only get better with more experience, I think he looks better every time he plays.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I actually thought Drinky was poor. Was just as guilty of giving up possession as anyone else (bar Mahrez, who was giving it away more than the rest of them). Quite a lot of aimless balls pumped up to nobody. We were poor across the park today. Only player I thought left the pitch with any credit was Okazaki who looked incredibly sharp and up for it.
sylofox Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 On todays showing yes him and Gray were class. But like the rest of the squad they need to brush up on passing. Far to many over hit under hit or wide of the mark passes. Also CR needs to send the whole squad to finishing school.
StanSP Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Okazaki made the clearest difference when he came on. Immediately got in to the thick of it and provided the link between midfield and Vardy.
Fox92 Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 There were no positives today. Awful performance. Drinkwater stood out again but he's doing the work of two. I didn't think we'd miss Kante this early.

AlgerianFox Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Mahrez's penalty. Very good for his confidence.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 You know what it was today, I think we had two technically good centre midfielders playing together, where as last season there was the balance between the technicality of Drinkwater and the tackling work by Kante. I think that balance is important. I'm thinking Drinkwater and King are quite similar players, whereas if someone was in there like Amartey or Mendy alongside either Drinkwater/King, it would create that balance again. Don't get me wrong Drinkwater and King can tackle, but I think we need to get back to having the balance of a defensive minded midfielder and the technical baller. Drinkwater is used to that too.
dayday Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 God help us if Danny gets injured, i only hope Ranieri has got somebody lined up.
HankMarvin Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Amartey doesn't look confident on the ball and almost seems to delay his pass, i didn't see drinkwater spraying any balls he was barely on the ball, spent most of the time in the CDM role chasing it
Guest Cujek Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 I guess you can call it a positive that no one will be after Mahrez any more after that performance, but means we can't get 50 mil for him any more
themightyfin Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Drinkwater was the nearest player to Snodgrass when they broke for the winner after Kaspers poor throw and while Snodgrass Made his run and found space on the edge of the box Drinkwater I'm afraid did nothing more than amble back and let Snodgrass make his run and find the space he needed. Ball watching or lack of concentration or fitness or a combo of all three?
boots60 Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 OkazakI Admission capped at £30 Ale in the workies near the ground was cheap Sun was shining Another freebie t shirt We are no longer in the relegation places
Dr The Singh Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 The only positives for me were drinking in a bar in new York 7.30am in the morning and meeting new friends and fans
Kitchandro Posted 13 August 2016 Posted 13 August 2016 Wasn't his best game but he was doing two people's jobs! he is clearly a class act and if you let him do his thing he's the best central midfielder in England. okazaki has impressed me since pre-season started and deserves to be picked next week.
