iLikeFoxes Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 What tremendous courage and vision our owners are displaying by returning the spoils of the miracle directly back into the club! They realize that there is a narrow window for LCFC to strike and capitalize on the current position, in effort to consolidate the gains that have been made. Mendy, Musa, Zieler, now another 70M (which currency I'm not sure! ) gone in for Slimani and Silva, which I'm seeing ESPN reporting as done deals. Not to mention all the renegotiated deals to keep Vardy, Mahrez, Drinky, et al. Let's applaud the ownership another round! Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
stripeyfox Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Not happy until I get another free doughnut.....
Voll Blau Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Be nice if they could return a teeny tiny percentage of the "spoils of the miracle" into cheaper tickets etc too.
MrSpaM Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 I think we ought to reserve calling spending 70 million on two players 'top ownership' until the signings have been made and they've actually produced the goods tbh. It's a massive, massive gamble
STUHILL Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Yes must say, wasn't that impressed with free BMW's for all the players who could buy one on 2 week's wages anyway! Cheaper tickets would have been nice and more appreciated.... BUT they are damn good owners!!! Get these two deals done today and wow, just wow!

It's a massive, massive gambleAll ownership can do is write the checks and hope the football men know what they are doing. It's still up to Claudio, Slim, and Silva, and the rest of the boys, to make it work. But that isn't on ownership. The alternative is they could take the spoils and reinvest in businesses they have which are already successful. What they are doing is way more risky, but they are taking the risk, not you. And does anyone truly believe that ticket prices can be dropped in the face of historic demand? What sense in the world would that make? They could triple the prices and still have a queue out the door. ****ing lucky they haven't. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Fox92 Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Spoils of the miracle? They make a **** load from winning the league last season, the new TV rights deal this season and playing in the Champions League ... Spending £70mill (or whatever it is) on players is the bare minimum..

Spending £70mill (or whatever it is) on players is the bare minimum..Then we see it the same way, they ought to reinvest in the club. But these are record breaking, no, record smashing, figures for the club. There are certainly one or two here who are uncomfortable with the money being thrown around. I'm just saying ownership has a choice, and they are choosing the product. That is very promising, and even if it goes tits up you have to be glad they went for it. After all, it's not your money, is it? [emoji2] Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

davieG Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 It's a big risk and depends on whether we can continue with a level of success to support it. What we cannot do is to rely on the owners funding it because as we have seen owners come and go,rise and fall in their own business environment and that will almost inevitably lead to heart break and the risk of disappearing down a black hole of debt.
FoxinNotts Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 If we're to land Slimani, the net spend this summer will be approx £27m. Essentially, we lost Kante, Inler and Kramaric (only one regular starter there) and we've strengthened our first team squad with six players, four of which are regular internationals. Bravo owners. Mendy and Amartey will fill the 'Kante role', between them. Well done Claudio.

I really hope there's a contingency plan. It's all very well throwing money around now but it might be different in a couple of year's time.
Grantham Fox Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 I've said loads of time to my mates about how lucky we are to have such ambitious owners. Genuinely love our club, and are putting so much into it. Especially when you think of how many clubs are being run poorly. Hull, Cardiff etc.

The biggest risk is just staying up. Given that, i think all the spending is actually in line with revenues, enormous as they are. The best way to stay up is to be bold and aspire to the top rung. Cautious pussy footing around is a bigger risk, IMO. If you accept mediocrity, that's just what you'll get. Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
StriderHiryu Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Our owners are amazing there are no two ways about that. Champions of England and they get new contracts for almost the entire team (other than one who couldn't wait to leave), cars for the team, got Andrea Bocelli to sing at our stadium and then break our transfer record three times in one summer! I'll also put money on us having a bigger, newer stadium in the next 5-10 years. Some will be disappointed we didn't get another Central Mid (I am one of them) but I trust Claudio and the club. I also think that in some regard whilst splashing the cash is exciting that it's important to give existing players a chance. Remember that the total cost of our squad that pulled off the greatest achievement in our history cost about the same for what we just paid to get Slimani! Looking forwards to many more years with owners like these!
st albans fox Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Seems 70million was a bit too far on the two players. Plenty said aid silva not worth 38million
Livid Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 I'm glad we didn't cave in on Silva. Sorry for him as he obviously wanted to come but... Firstly he was massively overpriced I think he was worth no more than £30 million, Secondly although we could of afforded it we showed we aren't going to just hand over whatever is demanded. We took a stand.
foxy boxing Posted 1 September 2016 Posted 1 September 2016 great owners and looking at other clubs look how bad we could have had it?

Anyway every club/manager make gambles that don't come off. Torres 50m Carol to Liverpool the argy that Fergusson bought. All in relative terms were a damb site more than our supposed 70m on 2 players.
