7 games in 22 days...

wow 7 games not like none of them ever did it in the championship. Also you may say these games are against better players. Yes you are right but most won't kick and clobber he players like they do in the championship.

The intensity and pace plus travel will make this a markedly more challenging period than one the players have experienced previously.

We will see the full squad over the next 3 weeks as Claudio will mix and match a bit especially against Burnley and Chelsea.

We are definitely lucky with the travel, just been to Brussels from East Mids, only in the air for an hour! I assume that's where the team will fly to for next weeks game.

i doubt they'll have to queue with the likes of us either.

It's mentally an physically demanding but on the other hand they will be totally focused. I just hope the players that come perform to the required standard as there's no time for setting in. They have to hit the ground running.

While we have good cover up top the midfield especially DD will be stretched. At the back Wes might need a break also.

I'd rest a few for Wednesday as I think we can take them without risking key players.

Still exciting times for everyone. I'm sure the players are relishing the challenge.

Rest a few on Wednesday........I think some fans are under estimating the standard of the European sides...they are the Champions of Belgium 2016 and yes we were Champions but English sides in Europe have found the CL a challenge over recent years.

Our boys will find it a step up and I think if we get one away win from the 3 CL games we will have done extremely well......he won't be resting anyone in the CL but may choose different players or tactics!

Our strength in depth will be key now, like others have said hopefully nothing happens to DD or Simpson up until January. However hopefully we are still in the champions league come January & buy some good reinforcements in these 2 areas.

Our squad then in terms of depth would be complete.

I expect the rotation to start tomorrow, a number of players will only just be back from long international trips. Okazaki, Amartey were off in far flung places with the squad although they don't appear to have played Morgan played on Weds in the Caribbean. They would be three players to potentially rest. Hernandez or Was for Morgan, Slimani for Okazaki and Mendy (fitness?), King (rarely plays well with Drinky), Kaputska (untried) for Amartey. Then full team for Brugges, no messing around in the CL we are capable of beating Brugges and Copenhagen but we will need to be at our best especially away and then maybe we can rotate for the home legs.

I can't see that many substitutions for an away game against Liverpool, which will be looking to win it's first game in the "new" Anfield. Slimani is training for the first time today, Mendy and Schlupp are still injured, etc. I think it will be the same starting 11 as against Swansea; if we have a good first half (Vardy hat trick, surprise goal from Okazaki, Mahrez scoring with a freekick), then Musa for Albrighton at the half, Slimani for Okazaki  and Gray for Mahrez at 60'.

It  depends what state our international players come back in. Morgan, Okazaki and Amartey were playing/training on another continent a few days ago.

Having said that we have one of the best sports science departments in the country and we have been developing players to cope with the rigours of this season. Maybe it will be same again, we'll  have to wait and see.

On a separate note, Liverpool away is a lower priority game than Brugges and Burnley. Obviously I want us to beat Liverpool, but if we don't it isn't the end of the world, and even if we go full strength they can rip us to shreds if they are on song. If we beat Bruges and Burnley then anything from Liverpool away is a bonus. Any fitness doubts and I would rest them against Liverpool to ensure they are fit for Bruges and Burnley.

Anyone who thinks Burnley will be an easy game should look at our game vs Hull and Burnley's game vs Liverpool.

They won't be far off bed come midnight post Brugge game. Fly into Ostend Airport/East Mids.

It only sounds a lot of games when you say it like that. It's 2 games a week, we did it in the Championship, our sports science department is probably the best in the country and regardless professional footballers should be fit enough to handle it.

No 'Countdown' has got to be worse?

It's disgusting, the Paralympics should be postponed until the end of the football season....It's going to be a struggle without Rachel, but i'm sure we'll come through under Claudio's magic guidance :)

Don't they train now days then?

Of course mate, but I don't really call that work.

Ok your time is not your own and you have to understand the tactics / game plans, but basically it's an enjoyable way to spend the day.

Liverpool are seen as a rival for top 4/6 so we will be all out not to lose. I expect Claudio will be very happy to come through both fixtures unbeaten. a draw at brugge will be seen as a good outcome by the management, as will the same outcome tomorrow. we have to be pragmatic re the league. don't lose to the clubs we expect to be competing with and make sure we win against the others. that's what made hull such a terrible result. it means we have to beat the top teams to keep pace, assuming they all get a positive result at hull.

Thank god! This international break has absolutely killed me. I hate weekends without club football, it's the worst thing imaginable.

Entirely agree. It's like enforced emotional deflation. Weekends are about as appealing as a dry fanny!

It's not that bad.

Sat Liverpool (a)

Wed  Brugge (a)

Sat Burnley (h)  -  Just tell the players to give their all and a week off

Tue Chelsea (h)  -  This will be largely a game to play squad players

Man U (a)  - First team come back from a week off

Tue Porto (h)

Sun Southampton (h)  -  Five days off from previous match, get through it and a two week break afterwards.

You've obviously not seen them train. They train 3 times a week & train quite intensely it's far from easy.

I can understand the fear and then again I can't.

Yes, it's going to be tough(er), yet some of these players have been with us since the Championship days, where similarly testing schedules were in effect. So nothing new there.

The only difference will be the quality of the opposition and the public exposure (millions watching instead of thousands).

But it's times like these that footballers, managers, football clubs are most looking forward to. Players want to play as often as they can, it's why they chose this profession over others, managers want to compete with the best and figure out where they stand in the grand scheme of things. And the clubs are rubbing their hands at the prospect of additional revenue and marketing possibilities.

From a fans' perspective, I don't see what all the fuss is about. I'll just lean back and enjoy the show - because that's why we follow the sport.

This club has seen some very low moments over recent years - I doubt they'll be able to beat relegation to League One or missing out on promotion to the Premier League anytime soon.

The effort of playing sat/wed etc is nothing new to the guys who were in the championship side but the mental intensity of the PL shouldn't be under estimated. It's good that the European trips are close and the players can be back in their own beds same night.

Also, our midfield two were used to playing 2 v 2 in the championship. It's nearly always 2 v 3 in the PL.

I think it's physically easier for the defenders at this level but not the midfield and forwards.

It is such an exciting time, and it is all a result of our monumental success, which has brought a new and different set of challenges.

The squad as a whole is more important than last year, and seeing those players who are benched more often will give us a much better idea of where everyone is at. We are much less likely to see situations like Benny or Inler, unable to get a sniff of the first team, due to the regulars being so effective.

Positives and negatives, bring them all on...  come on Leicester!:scarf:
