I'm not sure who we sacrifice but 4-4-2 away at places like Old Trafford is criminal as shown in the hiding we got at Liverpool. I'd be a bit more cautious and try to play a 4-3-3 and as the game wears on then go 4-4-2. Could we have Vardy/Slimani drop slightly wide and Albrighton narrow to make up a 3rd central midfielder? He's hardly world class at tackling but I think he'd do a Milneresque job. Then when we break we still have all the gang to cause havoc. I think he will. And I think if history repeats itself you'll see a change in approach when we play Chelsea. I am hoping the Liverpool game was a one off and we can continue to hurt teams playing our way. The Swansea Burnley games showed some encouraging signs that we are capable of playing a more possession based game and put teams expected to finish closer to the bottom to the sword, especially the latter with Slimani giving us something we have lacked. But I am not convinced we are the sort of team capable of flooding the midfield trying to make a boring frustrating game for the better teams, I just the see them beating us 1 or 2 nil and us looking utterly toothless.
foxy boxing Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 jose will have them well drilled for this you would expect so we really need to be up for this, we need to be full of energy and keep running at them and getting the ball out wide and pepper them with crosses for slimani to get on the end. we need to be defensively solid and not give the ball away all the time. we need to dominate the midfield and frustrate them. we should not fear them and try to copy watford's blueprint for success. we have so muchy pace to frighten them that we need to use it and utilise it well

tyfox Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Can see us beating these I think slim and vards will both score
Silverfox265 Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 I am surprisingly confident about this one. Manure are slow and panicked at the back, with no real pace (apart from Rashford) going forward. Could see Mahrez having a field day!

urban.spaceman Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Thought it was worth pointing out, if anyone needed any help getting fired up for Saturday ... this happened two years ago today. Best. Day. Ever (well, until May 2nd 2016. And May 7th. You get the picture) Cheers.
Wymsey Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 When was it the last time they lost 4 consecutive league games? Would be appalling if they don't qualify for the Champions League based on transfer fees alone. An early goal for LCFC and their fans will be like Newcastle ones, on their backs.
Monsell1976 Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Fancy at least a point here, Jose is in meltdown like last season. Pressure is all on them, I just hope we don't show them to much respect, and go at them from word go.
Number 6 Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 2 years to the day since the 5-3. Would take that again please!

crazyleicester Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Gutted I am at a wedding on Saturday, I may pull a sicky and go to the reception and make some excuse! As for United, I dont think Jose knows his best team. I also dont think he has a clue on his best formation. Also, he is making the same mistake as Big Sam who have it in their heads that Rooney must play even if it means the team is disjointed as neither feel the need of playing him as a no 10 anymore because both squads are full of good quality strikers. Neither manager seems brave enough to drop him and thats one of many reasons why they look all over the place. I know we moan at no defensive midfield signing but I cant work out why United didnt for for one themselves. They are playing players all over the shop like a winger at right full back in Valencia, Pogba playing deep, Rooney in midfield as mentioned and Feilani as a more defensive player when he was at his best for Everton he was more of a danger in the opposition box. They are there for the taking if we are back at full strength and we need to keep that worried looking "I dont know what to do" expression on JM face that he started getting and Chelsea last season and that he is starting to get at United.

If the rumours are true Jose has ****ed up. It will go down to player mentality on there part if true.
crazyleicester Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Just now, sylofox said: If the rumours are true Jose has ****ed up. It will go down to player mentality on there part if true. I dont know about rumours and losing the dressing room. I dont think that has actually happened so early. Its just he had that invincibility halo around him and he always had the answers, always. He knew what to say in the press and to his players to get a reaction and thats why a relatively average Chelsea won the title the season before us. They had that crazy long period going undefeated as they made Stamford Bridge a fortress and would always find a way. However, some of his actions last season were really poor judgement. He had a look of a worried man and importantly he couldnt change things on the pitch with his players and tactics. At United he has kept most of last seasons players and bought some quality but again I dont think he knows his best team or system. How Rashford isnt playing for starters no one knows. Strangely, he also seems a bit lost on playing his better players in position. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was player of the year in Germany for christ sake and he didnt start him and we he does play him he plays him our of position. Its similar with Pogba. They spend nearly 100m on him and he is trying his tricks in his own half and has no ball winner next to him. One other thing did anyone see his press conference pre-season when he went on a know it all smug description on where Rooney WONT be playing and where he plans on using him (scroll to 24 mins in vid below ). He has gone totally against that from early doors. Because he had Martial, Rashford and got Ibra in he has been forced to play Roonkey deeper even if it is detrimental to the teams system. I just think he has lost his mojo and for the first time in his managerial life has doubt on his own ability as he cant seem to wave the magic wand and get performances and results and that must be doing his head in. IMO its because the standard of manager has improved tenfold in the prem in recent seasons and with all this money walk over games against clubs even like ours is just a distant memory and there are no simple wins these days. He is still relatively young for a manager so he Im sure will get his mojo back but lets hope it aint for a while yet
Dr The Singh Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 This match all depends on how we defend. Can Morgan escape any bloopers, can the side avoid any bloopers. Can we defend set pieces. If so, we are more then able to get a goal.
Guest Col city fan Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Not sure it is a good time to play them personally. If ever there's a time they need a win and Mourinho particularly, it's now. They will be probably in a 'win at all costs' mentality. We can score goals right enough...my concern is down the other end. Another 4 shipped last night, albeit with a weaker squad and ultimately 10 men on the field. Im predicting a tight game, with Utd scraping it by one.
jammie82uk Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Just seen that 2 years ago today this happened Edit: just seen that multiple people have already pointed that fact out already
Foxxed Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Same side as against Burnley. United will be threatened and very dangerous. But the electric dynamic we now have with Slim will be high. Too hard to predict, apart to say it will be very far from a walk over, but I'm buzzing for the game.

Guest seanfox778 Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 Can't believe the 5-3 was two years ago, remember it like it was last week. Time is accelerating to quickly for my liking. Would love the same result on Saturday, we haven't won there in nearly 20 years I believe.
STUHILL Posted 21 September 2016 Posted 21 September 2016 All eyes on Amartey for me. Very curious to see how he does in CM against a decent team. If he has another good game, then I think we have found our CM to partner Drinky until Jan at least, which will be a big relief, as King isn't the answer and we still no very little about Mendy and his ability. Will be watching Man U tonight and hoping they give another flat performance, although I think players like Lingard and Rashford will have a field day if they get a goal early. Not going to think too much about last night, as our starting 11 are so much stronger than many of our reserves and as long as Drinky and Simpson have recovered, then I think we have every chance of winning.
