Nigel Pearson suspended by Derby

I've been saying we have a bad case of player power on our forum for months (since Clement) yet was slagged off for it, this is 3 managers they've gotten rid off now and still some of our lot deny it.

Morris hasn't got a clue how to deal with it, I do feel a little sorry for him because he's spent a lot of his own bloody money on this club and he does want the best for it, but the problem is he just hasn't got the right temperament to be a hands on owner, he's far too emotional and hot headed as pointed out above by another poster. He seriously needs to get other people around him, because he's only got Sam Rush and he's been gagged over the past 12 months as well, he needs other people to do the running for him, let them run the club on his behalf and he just needs to stay out of it.

Sam Rush would be ideal for that as well, he did a good job when we had the transition from the yanks to Mel, we got some good deals and we actually had a good close knit squad.

I slag Morris off because he's making one stupid decision after another out of frustration.. you can't get what you want straight away, funnily enough he made his money on the back of having other people around him... Mmm

Shows again surely...all top bosses need a good management team. When Pearson wasn't backed up, in this case, his days were numbered. I think that's a shame. The Derby squad is fall of complete pussies who needed a strong bloke at the helm. But you can't do it on your own. See Clough at Leeds. Sounds very comparable. Like Manwell, I have a few mates who are Derby season ticket holders, who have said very similar. Nige's face just didn't fit. Don't mean it won't elsewhere.

NP with Shakespeare and Walsh would get Derby or Villa up in the next 2 seasons.

NP without Shakespeare and Walsh.. Who knows.

This is it for me. Nige's reputation as a long term squad builder is based on his time here where he had Walsh doing his recruitment. Walsh is regarded as one of the best in the game. Without Walsh can Pearson still build a good squad? Who knows, there's no evidence either way.

He did make a mess of derby though. For all the talk of them being a failure they actually had three solid championship seasons before this year. They finished last season with 14 points from their final 7 games. They obviously have the players to mount a promotion push and the right manager would have worked with what he was given and got the best oit of them, much like Ranieri did here.

Can't see many chairman jumping at the chance to hire Pearson is he needs a whole new team before you've even got a chance at success.

Reading the Metro today, it mentioned Mel Morris was at a Q & A yesterday. It think it speaks volumes that a good chunk of that time was spent with Morris discussing the merits of the 4-3-3 formation and the ills of the 4-4-2 formation. Basically, the bloke likes having an over-keen interest into the team.

Nigel can now complete his memoirs, he's already done the cover.

So i see Wigan are without a manager now...

And Wolves, although I would not advise him to go to Wolves when you look at the amount of managers they've got through in recent times.

Wigan would be good, a good little club and he'd have time to maybe stamp his mark.

Jackett had 3 years, McCarthy nearly 6. Take out the mad year with Solbakken, Connor and Saunders and there is nothing out of the ordinary there.

Zenga was clearly clueless and they've taken action. Reminds me of when we got Sousa and got rid after a similar amount of time.

Must admit I didn't realise Jackett was there for 3 years, seemed much shorter!

Time is rather running out for him to renew his management 'talent' credentials.

Thought the ambition of Derby's owner was perhaps too much for someone who likes to take time in improving things.
