How can we improve the atmosphere at the KP

Recommended Posts

Last season I couldn't hear the away fans, this season I hear them every single game.

I sit at the back of SK1

"The clappers are a bit different. It seems like the fans have a real good connection with the team. A togetherness, you can feel it. If you're trying to shout to one of your team mates you can't make your voice heard sometimes"

Quote by Leon Britton of Swansea in Jonathan Northcroft's  "Fearless"

You may not like them but opposition players don't either. Be careful what you wish for, do you want to give up our home field advantage and risk returning to SK1 and L1 making all noise whilst the rest of the ground sits on their hands ?

Get out the WYS song out of the speakers just before kick-off.

But the song is probably binned as haven't heard it in ages.

Most fans don't care about making an atmosphere, half heartedly clapping a clapper is as far as they'll ever go.

The mentality in England is dead let's face it. I only go for myself nowadays, I'm around like minded people so I couldn't care less anymore.

Embarrassed of the greatest achievement our club has ever had in its whole history?

Yes but we aren't playing like it! And we have about lost it already

Surely you didn't expect us to genuinely compete again though? We're Leicester, we're not entitled to be challenging year on year we had one chance when everything fell into place and we took it.

Very much like rugby now, slowly but surely a middle class game, the working class are priced out.

This cheap ticket theory is great, but 30 quid for an adult ticket, prices a lot of the working class out.

I of course not mate but I expected us to fight harder not just roll over

We are entitled to sing Champions of England though, if that is an embarrassment to you, fair enough, personally i think someone having a small cock is embarrassing.

Why do you go football?

Is it just to watch the game? Then watch and enjoy and use the clapper now and again.

Is it to feel involved and help make a difference to your club? Then sing, shout, shake it all about,go home tired and feel like you've made ABIT of a difference.

Any suggestions?

Exactly what I thought, people slate our songs, but can't offer a decent alternative.

I do think we should sing more of the old classics though, but the newer are taking off.

need new chants, the 'proud of our city' one is god awful, and brings the atmosphere down.. and 'its crazy but its true' is embarrassingly cringeful..

I thought it was pride of our city

Have I been singing it wrong all this time? lol

This might sound like a bit of a whine but the atmosphere last night, while good in parts, was not as loud as it could be. I wonder if anybody had some suggestions to improve it. One thought was that the stadium fills up quite late before kick off. Perhaps if more people came early ( I accept that many can't for a variety of reasons), then the noise would build earlier. Sheffield Wednesday have a band, might that be a way forward? Thoughts?

Through work I have been to other grounds belonging to the so called "bigger clubs" and our atmosphere is stratospheric compared to the shite at those grounds

yes something can always be better , but give thanks for what we have

British Fans in large numbers will never be Like continental fans  , far too reserved on the whole and no beer inside the ground doesn't help

I thought it was fairly decent for a cold night and dire last 60 mins !

You're right about fans being reserved. What I don't get is the 7 or 8 lads in the pub giving it some, then in the ground absolutely nothing. So strange.

Totally agree with this. The game has had its soul stripped from it no doubt. I teach in a very deprived area where the kids are football mad but they get to go and watch a game live once a year on their birthday if they're lucky. Not right is it?

As for improving atmosphere, winning a few games or even just putting in a fully committed performance would be a start.

Beer come down, why else would continental clubs carry on selling it in the ground
