Tuna Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Centre Half, Right Back, Another Flair Player (Albrighton replacement), 2 Central quality Midfielders, another goalkeeper. Spend the money, no excuses.
Callabinho Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Erik Johansson Lemos Keane Silva Villalba Malcolm Barrardi Gabriel... reckon that will do it.

And our share of tv rights that could add another 50% on the total. Upto now UEFA owe us €24m with a group game to go but that includes the round of 16 money. So with our TV pool money we should get £32m win it we are looking at £100m.

Would be happy with those three. Right characters too.
StriderHiryu Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 As many have said, we should make the signings we should have made in the summer! Box-to-box midfielder to win the ball to help Drinky and another quality centre back to cope with injuries and the number of games we have to play. Leicester tend to go back in for players we've been linked with in the past but think Keane is now out of the question as CB. Adrien Silva is a distinct possibility given Macia is head of recruitment. He'd be a very interesting one as he's not an engine but more of a rolls royce type. IMO just go in big for a midfielder who has great stats in tackles and interceptions like Kante. Even though we will never truly replace him it will restore our balance. We've been linked with a few but it's important to follow through! Get it done ASAP instead of a deadline day deal again.
Fox92 Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 At least one younger centre half. A strong holding midfielder (or box to box) to win the ball for Drinkwater.
Kitchandro Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 I think people are a bit deluded here. We could be out of the Champions League in 3 games, before the players we sign even have a chance to play in it. The players we wanted to buy in the summer may have wanted to come because we were champions and could offer champions league football. But they aren't going to be stupid enough to be lured in by European football when it might only last a few more games and there's almost no chance of us being in it or winning the league. The pulling power we had before the season started has all but disappeared.

Seems we are in talks with Genk and I was told the Silva talks continued after the close. It suggests the club realised it had dropped a bollok in the summer. Hopefully we will get our deals tied up before the window opens. Then we can fly them in and signed in the first week. Likewise do deals to ship anyone out we are getting rid of. Except for Schlupp as he will get confused and think he's at his new club and buy a new house
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Keane looked quality against us and realistically this is Morgans and Huth last season
EGBFitness Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 CR won't splash out on a CB. Morgan is his captain and Huth works well with Morgan - that's not saying I don't think that area doesn't need strengthening, just can't see big money being spent in that position. Maybe CM and LW?

foxy boxing Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 we need a ball winning and great tackling midfielder, definitely try to get Adrien Silva or someone similar

Why they didn't pay the £17m in the summer I don't know. Chelsea are now interested. Wont happen I don't think - one of many many bollocks that were dropped which will cost us many many pound notes.
norwichfox Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 We need a ball winner/ball holder in midfield, loads of options have already been bandied around in the numerous transfer window threads with Silva still favourite choice of many including me, but then again I was desperate for us to sign Inler, Armartey, Kapustka, Gray......all who haven't worked out so far. Just as much of a worry for me is the fact that we are not scoring enough league goals. It don't matter how many we let in if we score more at the other end. Can't see the point in us spending a fortune on bench warming backsides, we need someone who can slot straight into the team.

Both getting extended big money contracts in the summer. Anyone else feel this is like a repeat of Sven. Buying players that are no good or not used (Benny Inler) huge contracts to players close to the use by date ( Gally Wellins) Seems we did not learn much from Sven and being sentimental is a road to ruin. We really will fall foul of FFP if we don't be careful. Ageing players on long term high wage contracts that we can't move on.

We can still attract good players without European football, which is exactly what we need.

Don't matter how many we let in as long as we score more. The great Brian Clough said build from the back. If you don't concede you can't lose. Also no point scoring 4 if you let 5 in. Or perhaps you know better? That's why CR sorted our defence out last autumn. As he knew we would not keep out scoring teams like we were having to.

Buzzell Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 We buy back Kante, buy Messi, Neymar, Bale, Ramos, Modric, Ronaldo and rule the world.

I think Morgan and Huth worked well when we had a midfield, but right now they both look poor at times. I think getting in a more dynamic CB that can pass would be a good idea, just to add some kind of pace in that back 4. Or maybe Hernandez/Benalouane can surprise us all.
m4DD0gg Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Spend big but more importantly spend big in the right areas. We monumentally ****ed ourselves over in the summer by not stumping up the cash for Silva and trying to nickle and dime something that will cost us in the long run via a poor league finish in the prem which will result in less prize money. Sounds a simplistic view but there no point embarking on the knock out phases of the champions league with 1 decent fit midfielder.
Sammy Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Would love us to drop £20m on keane but I'm not sure that will be enough anymore. Think him and 1 quality CM could see us have an excellent second half of the season
jammie82uk Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Well it would seem according to the Belgian press that Wilfred Ndidi is the Defensive midfielder Claudio wants having submitted a bid for him
