Wymsey Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38087552 A very good idea after recent coming-forwards from ex-players, but think it should've been established longer ago.
stripeyfox Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 Apparently over 200 calls in one morning! It wouldn't suprise me if it was rife back in the 70's / 80's. These people infiltrated all sorts of areas of life in order to abuse children so football is probably no differnet and in fact probably a "good" environment for those seeking to carry out abuse.
SystonFox Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 I had to turn off the report I was listening to on talksport. Dean Ashton saying he was present at this fellas trips to America sat on the end of the bed watching scary movies with all the other lads. Horrible listening
GaelicFox Posted 24 November 2016 Posted 24 November 2016 This has gone on in every sport in the country why People are shocked it's happened in football is beyond me the modern DBS checking system is still inadequate to deal with those perverts hell bent on abusing children the only way to truely tackle this is educate our children properly on how to report this if it happens and we need to educate them young ! The World is a screwed up place , but we have the tools to unscrew it , if we real want to
Bellend Sebastian Posted 25 November 2016 Posted 25 November 2016 I think this is going to go on for ages, for the sole reason that so many people are involved in the various levels of football, inevitably there's going to be some dodgy folk among them. Throw in the power that coaches have in determining aspiring young player's progress or otherwise, like GL says, it would be odd if this didn't go on, sadly. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38093421

Wymsey Posted 26 November 2016 Author Posted 26 November 2016 Crewe begin own abuse investigation, just hope it won't affect them as a club as they're well-run. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38118429 Watched the Victoria Derbyshire Show discussion replay earlier, that I thought was very right to do, with 4 of those ex-players revealing their own stories on his. Was hard to not feel upset about what they said about it.
Nick Posted 28 November 2016 Posted 28 November 2016 Bennell was found on Friday and taken to hospital - my (unofficial) understanding is that he may have made an attempt on his life.... Still in hospital apparently.

They need, as do all clubs impacted, to find out what happened, take responsibility for the failings, and be completely clear about what they have done already, and will do now. If that impacts people or the club reputation so be it.

Ashley Posted 29 November 2016 Posted 29 November 2016 Speaking about this in the pub the other day and someone made a very good point well two. 1. How has this not come out sooner? I appreciate people might be scared to talk about such incidents. 2. Bar teaching, coaching is the easiest access to kids!

Kept going on about having dartitus which i found funny having this mental picture in my head of Eric on the ockey, aiming for the bull and not being able to let go of his dart. Things are funny when you're pissed. He didn't see the funny side

Manwell Pablo Posted 28 February 2018 Posted 28 February 2018 Just so I’m clear whacking a blob of deep heat on a (adult) team mates bell bed whilst they’re getting changed then laughing hysterically while they try and remove it without rubbing it in further doesn’t constitute sexual assault right? Asking for a friend.
