ozleicester Posted 7 January 2017 Posted 7 January 2017 this pretty much explains my opinion .... ...it explicitly expresses that the sayer of the phrase does not want to be perceived or mistaken for being homosexual, and thus that there is something bad, shameful, undesirable, wrong, or unwanted about being, or being perceived as being homosexual - whereas it should not matter at all whether you are homosexual or not, or perceived to be such, and there should be no stigma or remarkableness associated with it. You don't know who might (over)hear it and be secretly struggling with their sexuality, and thus be pushed further into the closet/made to feel bad or sad... Im going to leave this here so that i dont derail the topic any further.

I think perhaps my point is that the phrase 'I'm offended' is a bit of a non-argument. Many people overuse the phrase over nothing, and it has lost all meaning. Perhaps these make my point better...although not aimed directly at you
