Grégoire Defrel

http://sportwitness.co.uk/leicester-city-strong-interest-serie-forward-club-want-e20-22m/

Following the arrivals of Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa over the summer, it wasn’t surprising to see the likes of Shinji Okazaki and Leonardo Ulloa benched or left out of Leicester’s squads altogether.

With Ulloa likely to leave the King Power Stadium, Claudio Ranieri would only be left with four forwards until the end of what is proving to be a very difficult season for the Foxes.

Considering injuries are likely to happen and Leicester play two up top, this is why we’ve seen Leicester linked with a few strikers over the course of January, and a new one has emerged on Wednesday in Sassuolo’s Grégoire Defrel.

The Premier League side have been in contact a few times with their Serie A counterparts this January, with centre-back Federico Acerbi the reported target, but Il Messaggero on Wednesday mention a ‘strong interest’ in the Italian club’s French striker, with China also thrown into the mix for good measure.

AS Roma have been trying to convince Sassuolo to loan them Defrel until the end of the season with a view to buy, and refuse to offer over €16m.

The neroverde, down their end, are unwilling to listen to anything below €20-22m for their star striker.

Could Leicester really decide spend another £17-19m on a new striker? Considering only five points separate the champions and the relegation zone, with goals hard to come by, desperate times may call for desperate measures.

We doubt it, though.

What is with us and Sassuolo?

I am really quite sure now that our defenders have something in their contracts that does not allow us to bring in any more.

We can't create chances and we can't keep clean sheets so lets buy another forward....

We'll have a lot of wages to shift if we're relegated.

It's a tenuous sport witness link to a shit forward that never scores.

Ain't happening. Relax.

Realistically, we're probably not signing anyone except maybe Ramirez.

Oh I know it won't happen. Rumours are exactly that. Just fed up of days passing and still no centre half in.

Get used to it. We're not getting one.

Think the owners are likely still confident we're not going down (so am I, to be fair) and have written off finishing anywhere near the top 6/7 so why invest now?

If we stop ****ing about with the system and stick to 442 which they all know then Wes, Was, Amartey, Ndidi and Huth will keep us up.

Wes won't keep us up. He's been awful this season, he needs replacing ASAP otherwise we will go down.

To have one or two players bedded in by the end of the season so we don't have to buy half a new team in the summer.

Besides, I'm not as confident as you that we'll beat the drop.

I'm not sure why people are so opposed to us getting a striker. The ones we have bar Vardy are shit. And Vardy's playing like a twat as well. We really needed someone to both challenge and compliment Vardy up front. We've ended up with Ulloa MKII and someone we play out wide who makes Schlupp look like a decent footballer.

Besides, since when does us being linked to a striker mean we can't sign a defender?

I love how when we're so much as tentatively linked with a striker / winger people just assume that our recruitment team are sat on their collective arses not looking at defensive targets.

We can look at more than one player you know, lads.

Claudios record of signings from Italy is not good, spending millions on a player who may not make the first team. we need quality defenders. we need to stop shipping goals so obvious the transfer policy is to bring in another striker who may end up the same way as Kramaric
