Yep, there is a real hate for Pats. I'm not entirely sure why, but I feel myself hating them too mainly because they are like the Manchester United of NFL it's boring if there is one team always there. I will be a Falcons fan for the evening for sure. Even though my Cardinalds had an awful season

Footballwipe Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Will be giving it a go as usual. No food, but plenty of hope that the Patriots get stuffed by the brilliant Falcons offense. At work the next day so it'll be a hell of a challenge for me. Plus United hours before so no chance of a nap! Always give it until half time. Hopefully Atlanta will be 30-0 up and I can go to bed happy!
bovril Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I'm at work at 7.30am in the morning so it'll be beer for breakfast. Really hope Atlanta can pull it off. Maybe the most fun-to-watch offense I've seen since the '98 Vikings. Everything about the Patriots is just so dull, and that's even before you get to the cheating part as mentioned above. Aside from the game the whole flag and advertising orgy fascinates me. I never knew how much could be sponsored - even the segment commemorating players who have died that year is brought to you by Bud Light.
pSinatra Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Go Patriots !! I know the Patriots are universally disliked but they have always been my team since my uncle moved to Boston when I was about 13 years old. The same goes for the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins. When Channel 4 started showing football in the early 80's, the Patriots were absolute dogshit. It's been great seeing a bit of success. They do bend the rules as far as they can & you could say they cheat, but I always used to think that of the Leicester Tigers. They are prepared to push the rules to gain whatever advantage they can & win by any means necessary. They are not unique in doing this. Sure, it's great having an exciting offense, but if you don't win it don't mean shit. e.g. Spurs. Looks like I'll be on my own cheering on the Patriots.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Probably watch the razzmatazz of the build up and might sneak the 1st quarter in. What time is KO GMT with it being in Houston? Also ANYONE BUT BRADY.
Finnegan Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 GWON THE FALCONS! Booked the sixth off work. Ready. Personally don't give a toss about the Falcons but just anyone other than the Pats really.
Firegrande Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 chicken wigs, ribs, snacks and beers a go. The next day also booked off **** the superbowl
Guest seanfox778 Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I like the Giants but they've been pants the last few years. I mainly hate the Patriots because I don't like that face in their logo, he's got a really pointy chin and looks a bit like Zordon from Power Rangers. Tom Brady is also a douche so come on you Falcons!
Webbo Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I tried to watch it last year because of our tenuous link to the Carolina Panthers but I have to say it was shit. On that note I'm moving this to Gen Sport.

GaelicFox Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Hate the pats just hate them falcons won't be good enough but I'll pray they are

Guest Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 The Falcons coach's playbook vanished mysteriously at an event then turned up a few hours later....I smell some photocopying going on

Ted Maul Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I've tried watching it before, but I can never get into it. Initially I thought it was because I didn't get it, but a greater understanding of the game didn't help- I've been to America a few times and tried to get into it over there. I really got into Baseball over there and love watching ice hockey and basketball for the speed of the game, so it's not like I haven't tried. It's literally 2 seconds of play followed by an ad break. 1 hour of play spread over an entire afternoon. Once they do score, the celebrations are so vulgar it's hard to side with anyone (think Arsenal levels of arrogance, with more dance choreography and zero sportsmanship). The half time show basically sums it up- overrated artists performing (miming) whilst an overinflated ensemble of dancers piss about on the pitch. All hype, very little substance.

I somewhat agree - though I love it as a sport and I think the tactics/formations/playbooks side of it is really interesting, however it is almost completely ruined by being so over commercialised. I nearly always watch on sky+ or just highlights so can fast forward through all the crap Baseball on the other hand... I've never been able to get into it!

Maybe it's because I managed to get to a baseball game and not football. I'm a bit of a cricket stats nerd and I always found baseball interesting because it's similarly number-based, maybe that's why. You could be right on the commercial nature of football- I just can't see past the hideousness enough to focus on the actual sport. It was probably a great game 30 years ago!

Maybe the reason I dislike baseball is because the only game I've been to was 0-0!
