If it is true, then it is disgusting that the players treat a manager who brought them the greatest moment in their careers with disrespect.

Works both ways.

The players also brought Ranieri a title.

What does a bloke need to do to get respect from footballers nowadays?

It's not as if he took a bunch of average footballers and made them Premier League champions or anything.

Oh wait.

The players showed what they were capable of before Ranieri. I can't knock him at all for what he did last year, he got all of the tweaks right. But i've no sympathy for him the season anymore.

Showed what they were capable of reaching the dizzy heights of 14th??

He said in the media they were "working their bollocks off" because he is BACKING THEM UP AND SUPPORTING THEM.

Is this not obvious to you? I mean seriously, do you expect a respectful, professional man to come out and try and inspire people by slagging them all off?

What the hell did your comment about "ever had a boss you dont like" even mean? Do you think real life works like la la football land?

By winning 7 of the last 9 games of the season. By pissing the Championship. By showing more fight in the 2014/15 campaign and not getting a single battering throughout that entire campaign.

And so what? He's not mentioned anything about being unhappy about the style of football. He puts all of our problems down to bad luck, how does this not worry you massively? Who says he has to slag them off to the media? Atleast address the obvious fvcking problems.

I'll hold my hands up on the final one; but claiming the players will only play for a gaffer they're friends with is daft on your part. I'd guess they all quite like Ranieri, just detest his methods, tactics etc.

Totally agree.

It's not like Ranieri is Mourinho who publicly shames his players and throws them under the bus.

I'm baffled as to why some of them don't likeRanieri any longer.

Not this again..

BECAUSE HE'S TOO SOFT!

He's Sven 2.

Mate, ive watched football for 20+ years. Ive seen Mick McCarthy "piss" the championship, ive seen Gary Megson get a team through the championship, ive seen more teams than i could ever list win 7 out of 9 games in a stretch. Ive seen teams like Bradford City, West Ham, West Brom make unlikely escapes.

None of that is in any way a sign that a team is capable of winning the Premier League. Absolutely none. Not performances in minor trophies, and not little purple patches either.

His media handling is totally focused on taking the pressure off people, taking all the blame himself rather than passing it onto the players, or seeking an excuse from the decisions of the officials etc. He 100% backs everyone up.

You compare that to the style of an abrasive type like a Mourinho, its no wonder that things can turn sour when he makes a public show of his players at times. And doctors. And captains. Obviously hes had more career success, but that style CAN lose people, and hes shown throughout his career more than once, it has. Pearson too for example. Dont try and dig up some argument about me being an anti. But he goes in at Derby, theyre a good squad already, and he totally loses them instantly with his abrasive, brash personality.

In the case of Ranieri, im just dumbfounded what theyve fallen out with him over. When hes tried to implement similar tactics, it hasnt worked, and this is obviously a new phenomenon as they ran through a brick wall for him last season. How can you quantify that?

The last line was a throwaway line. I of course dont literally mean they want their manager to be their best friend. But come on, these kind of incidents you see at football clubs are so pathetic when you go from world recognition for your efforts to falling out with each other and running round like youre chewing a wasp in a few months

I don't think anyone's not worried by Ranieri this season.

But we're talking about why the players can't even put a shift in for him. For me, that is far more 'massively worrying'.

What other word he supposed to use instead of 'think'?

I 'believe' we're still together?

I 'hope' we're still together?

I 'assume' we're still together?

We all know his English isn't the greatest, so I wouldn't read too much into it.

it's time one of the people on here who would appear to have inside knowledge tell us what is going on. If there is trouble and dissent, I want to know what and why. If not, I would rather not have any of the 'there's lots of internal dissent' innuendo.

So what are the problems? Do the players blame Ranieri for lack of tactical flexibility? What's happened to the famed players representative group of Wes, Kingy and someone else whose name I forget. Are there jealous rivalries on account of people getting huge salaries?

Who has any facts they can share?

I've been given a few insights which suggest that nothing's going to be mended til there's change. If then.  I don't intend to break confidences but will put it this way. Whatever the dish you need complimentary ingredients.

Ranieri has had a 30 year management career. I don't think he's been able to manage at the top level for so long by being "soft".

You don't need to like a manager to wrok for them and perform well for them. However, to a certain extent you need to respect them but most important of all is that you need to believe in them. Believe in their philosophy of work, the direction in which they want to take you and believe in the methods they employ to get you there. Start to disbelieve in any of these and you start to lower your standards.

The start of the season wasn't too bad in comparison to now. The Charity Shield wasn't a bad performance, the wins over Swansea and Burnley were also quite good as was the win in Bruge and the performance against Porto at home. Not pretty but effective.

For me the alarm bells started to ring when he admitted that the players had asked to remain playing 4-4-2 when it clearly wasn't working. This showed two things, one that the players were stronger than the manager and secondly that the manager had probably tried to install a different philosophy but had not been able to convince the players this was the way to go. At this stage he has started to lose their belief in him. I can't recall when exactly he said those words but I'd like to know how our perfomances have gone since he did. That mixed with some strange tactical approaches and frankly weird substitutions in matches further undermined the player's belief in the manager.

Now we appear to have reached an impasse where the manager no longer knows how to get the team motivated and is unable to get them to change their approach and a team whose confidence in their manager is fast evaporating.

Ranieiri's latest comment shows the hallmarks of a man who is lost and unsure that his team is any longer on the same wavelength. Unless things change there can only be one end.

Soft or not he could still be wrong - and still become uncertain.

I THINK we are still together??

...that says it all.

It was a smart move by him. He is taking away the heat from him.so, any trouble in the club will be on the players from now on. It is more" I don't have a problem with the players but, do they have a problem with me?" Kind of answer. It is  him asking his players if they still on his side. Just like in every day life when you tell someone" I think we are still friends". You are sure about your feelings but, not the other person's.

Ranieri was told in no uncertain terms that he needed to strengthen the squad....

Didnt need goal line technology to work out that comment was way, way, way over the line.

That is what a lovely man who has lost a dressing room full of premadonnas would say. Will be so sad to see him go but more and more sure by the game we'll go down if he doesn't.

From that response, surely it was a question as to whether the players were still following him not if he was about to get the chop.

Claudio has to ask himself if he has what it takes to keep us up not leave it to the players.

Its been a monumental **** up this year and staying up must be achieved at all costs. The fall out after relegation does not bear thinking about.

You our have a set of games left and if you are still here, do what you can to achieve that. That goes for the players as well the manager and his coaching staff. Next summer is probably the most critical summer we've had in years. From top to bottom the club needs to find solutions to the evident problems we have faced this year. Regardless if we stay up or go down.

It's a heartfelt but naive comment that is more full of hope than expectation and seeks to mask past mistakes.

I could type a list of people dissatisfied with their time under Ranieri and it adds up to far too many relationships that were, or haven't, ever been mended.

Football is an emotional business as Jurgen Klopp's been referring to, but a manager makes long term "enemies" at his peril

Ulloa is just one example. He's treated the bloke woefully yet hopes or expects to be friends. Well, I'll tell you this. You can be as hard as you like as a manager and get away with it. But it you're not fair, you've had it.

what a weird comment

Im guessing its from the press conference and an answer to a question from a journalist along the lines of whether he still has the backing of the players not just something he's just come out with.....

Still, not the most convincing answer.

Our players have gone from hero to zero to be quite honest. Everything Ranieri has done for them and they have behaved pretty shockingly in return. The complete lack of desire and commitment they have shown this season is an insult to what we achieved and Ranieri will be the one who takes the can.

Posted

He has been nothing but supportive to all the players even when they have not been performing he has not blamed them.

If they throw him under the bus instead of taking this as an opportunity to show they are with him then they really are a bunch of gutless cowards.

Really hope this is a mind game and the players turn up on Sunday. He has supported them and taken critism on their behalf and taken pressure off them last season in what was a managerial masterstroke.
