When he was at Athletico I think they ended up in admin and then he resigned before he was sacked. (Not sure if they ended up getting relegated or not).

Yes I think they did.

Give him a couple more games, if we lost to Derby and Swansea I think the owners have got to start thinking seriously about it, I like Claudio and don't want him to be sacked at all, especially after what he did for us last season, but if it's between getting a manager in now who will keep us in the Premier League or going down to the Championship with Claudio I'd rather have the former.

I don't think Claudio would stick around if we got relegated anyway, he doesn't strike me as the kind of manager who would want to manage a Championship team, but then I thought that about Rafa.

But more to the point I don't think Claudio would have it in him to get us back up.

I think the problem mainly lies with the players though and not Claudio, like Gary Neville said - some of the mistakes our defense were making yesterday just isn't the product of any managerial half time or prematch talk  - or training ground work.

The decision either way needs to be made now. Frankly I think he needs to go. These players won the league only a few months ago. They are not bad players, not the best I know but good enough to be around 12th. They clearly don't believe in the manager any longer. Blame the players if you want to but blame goes both ways.

Relegation would be seriously bad news. For a start what kind of squad would we be left with? One consisting of 30 somethings with little time left in their careers and one or two fringe players who wouldn't be good enough to get us out of the Championship.

I honestly can't see Ranieri having a clue what to do in the Championship.

He hasn't got a clue now and I don't see him suddenly having a eureka moment.

If we had 6 more points and playing reasonably well then we wouldn't be having these conversations. The majorly worrying thing for me is that it's now becoming clearly obvious  he doesn't have a clue what to do next, he's hoping something happens rather than making it happen.

Rafa took a gamble knowing how big a Club Newcastle can be with success. He failed narrowly but realised what potential he has at Newcastle which looks likely he will deliver. Unless he gets messed around by Ashley.

I'm at a loss to understand why CR has got it so wrong with virtually everything this season.  If it's not his fault he needs to speak up and expose the culprits.

Apparently Ranieri squared up to one of the backroom staff last week

That was in the papers.

I don't know if related but i know he's had a falling out with the kitman (that has not come from the kitman btw).

All is not entirely well at the KP.

The rumours about last minute changes are true - we were going to play kids against derby and had practiced during the week until on the wednesday mike stowell and craig shakespeare told ranieri he needed to play a stronger team as we had 5500 fans going and were already low on confidence. That led to changes and training on the friday morning of matchday. Players weren't happy.

Ive not seen it in the papers, someone who was at the ground told me. He just said he squared up to one of Pearsons men

It will come out in the wash eventually, but i fear the end in nigh for him

Fed up with being lectured about being a "bad supporter" or "everything that is wrong with modern football" for wanting to do something - anything - to arrest my club's nosedive.

A message for other clubs' fans reading this - none of us expected another league title. All we want is a team to be proud of and failing that a team with basic levels of professional competence.

We've been absolutely woeful in about 80% of our games this season. We've scored one league goal since Christmas. We're the worst team to watch in the league by a country mile.

Yet we still get a full house every week, the atmosphere was excellent in the first half (all things considered) and yet we still get absolutely nothing back from the players and empty platitudes from the manager.

Yes, last year was a beautiful aberration but our football club cannot be frozen at that moment in time.

As mentioned in the papers/media, the talks did happen as expected, albeit not face to face. Interesting that Rudkin wasn't involved in any of the talks, which given he's DoF suggests a lot. Owners aren't happy at all but have no fall back,  yet, if they get rid.

So have they backed him? Or are they now searching for a replacement?

I think it's shared blame between Ranieri and the players. Whoever is manager, with Morgan and Huth at CB, we will conceded goals. Kante was the reason we didn't conceded that many last season. He protected the back four, no one is doing that no, so for me it's a lack of passion and just lack of any decent tactics.

It's obvious the owners are keeping opinions open , I expect if an option arrives he will be gone Monday if we don't win next two games

ill be sick , and those players should all be cleared out , the trouble ones anyway

Would be interested in getting David Wagner in if CR gets binned.

In the Summer. No way he leaves 'Uddersfield before the season ends.

Time to go, I wonder if Shakey could galvanise the players!

I would guess that Shakey still has a good rapport with the players, and has their respect,  and for that reason he might be able to galvanise them.

It certainly seems unwise, if it's true, that Ranieri is freezing out Shakey and other long-standing members of the support team. In times of trouble the last thing you should be doing is isolating yourself; what you need are sounding-boards you can trust and who can supply decent alternative ideas.

Just watched some YouTube videos of kantes performances and Chelsea... And I have to say kantes was the biggest factor in our league wins.

All this other dressing room bs is because we lost kantes and the players only realised how important he was.

Watching him just reminded me how good he was for us last year.... Biggest regret for us was that we didn't keep him here this year. In hindsight I would be happy to offer him 200k a week to stay... Only now are the Chelsea fans appreciating him and realising they can play 3-4-3 due to him. Conte too is good for kantes as he mentioned he can still improve with killer passes when he recovers the ball.

We had the best midfielder in the world and let him slip through our hands.

If there is one reason Ranieri should be sacked it's not being able to convert nice our owner's they needed to pay him much more. I hindsight would have let carry go and keep kante and pay him 200k a week. He will be an Absolute Legend of a football player - whoever he play for.... He has more tackles in two seasons than anyone else has in three ffs

Sorry, not sure I follow, what do we think this suggests?

Rudkin was involved along with Claudio on Thursday. I didn't get that from the papers.

Yeah if you look at the pictures of training that week it was littered with academy players, more so than usual.

There's quite a strong possibility that Kante too would have been dragged into this mire and we'd be struggling to get the £30m for him at the end of the season, no one is performing anywhere near the levels of last year so why would he be an exception.

Perhaps a sports psychologist would've seen the aggressive winning mentality of the players change to a more complacent one this season and earned his coin bringing them back to reality?

The words of Courtois at Chelsea reflecting on how they lost their edge mentally after winning the league might give us an insight into what's gone wrong here.

"Last season, we started a little bit too relaxed," Courtois said. "We thought, 'Last season we were champions easily, this year we can take it easy.' We dropped points in the Premier League, we started to lose, and we couldn't get out of that. There was a bit of a negative atmosphere, which meant things didn't go well."
