We discussed this at length pre-match yesterday with contrasting views on whether we would prefer to stay up in the Premier League this season, or get relegated but win the FA Cup trophy.

So just for a bit of fun which scenario would you rather, stay up or be relegated but win the Fa Cup at Wembley.

Hopefully the reality will be both :P

I would love us to win the Fa Cup and add it to the trophy cabinet with the Premier League, so I'd select relegation but winning the trophy.

Staying up is far more important than winning the cup, no doubt about that. A FA cup spot will be there Next year, the year after that and the year after that no matter the level the team is playing at. but, playing against elite teams and having a crack at a European spot can't be done by playing in the championship.

Nail on head for me. I choose long term future over short term success.

I really love the squad we have at the club and I really think that once this "hang over" nightmare season has gone and we have stayed up we will all be much stronger for it. With a few big signings and the last bit or two of dead wood punted out I think we will have a great season. Because of that I cant see this club relegated as the likes of Kasper, Drinky, Vardy (Mahrez for me is going anyway) and even some of our super kids may depart. If we stay up but the possibility of those 4 International players I have mentioned decided to leave anyway, we will be able to attract quality replacements as a prem club.

The FA Cup would be amazing but keeping this squad together and making a few changes next season would be beneficial long term.

Very true, but you can look at the other way round aswell, we've won the league, were in the champions league last 16, fa cup wins come round once in a life time, to a club like ours, we will always get promoted again 9/10, maybe not nx season but we would be bk, .

lets have an fa cup win in our lifetime

Winning the cup is a must, sooner or later we have to do it.

Whats the big deal about being relegated, its part and parcel of supporting Leicester City. I've seen the city relegated six of seven times. In 1969 as a tough 17 year old I cried, but I also remember the promotion seasons, what fantastic years they were. I know reminiscing is so yesterday, but one of  my favourite all time aways is Portsmouth 1971 when we won Division 2.

The train journey home on the football special will always live in my memory.

Relegation always hurts, Stoke away was a nightmare, but having said this I do really feel sorry for the likes of Arsenal or Everton (and Coventry!) fans who have never experienced a promotion season. They have missed out with their boring consistency.

I said to my lads 30 years ago supporting Leicester City will bring plenty of heartache, but also fantastic highs. You can't have sunshine without a bit of rain and whilst the weather is not too good at the moment, the sun will shine soon, hopefully late afternoon on Sunday.

Manure are £409m in debt but anyway, i care that the club keeps its players that it wants too, and keeps it income, so staying up would be better. FA Cup wins are nothing like they used to be!

Not for you maybe...not for some club owners perhaps...

Then one should see, feel what the terrace fans still take serious.

The Fa-cup gives the also rans a chance against the so seen "big boys"

The FA, should also stop having the semi-finals at wembley.

Because maybe I am an older fan, I have seen us have so many nearly years,

or being tainted as a yo-yo club.A sparse trophy cabinet.

Relegation, we have had enough we are used to it.... Fa-cups none.

A forum is for the banter, this thread asks  'IF' and ' OR'..

So I will take the FA-cup.

Having the luxury of being a fan, I follow no logic, so ...£120M  against £ 1.8 m

I couldnt give a damn.

Another thing....Carragher the pundit, and a few fans on here saying if we go down

we will be remembered for the wrong reasons..The media will write what they write,

other Fans will, take the pss like they always have. But...!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT!!!     WE HAVE THAT TROPHY, no matter what they say.

Those tears of joy, that glow, that feeling, that unknown , unexpicable silly pride, is mine to keep.

Championship is easy to win, even we can do it..!!!

FA-cup, now there is a prize...Its what you make of it, your emotions, not what outsiders yap about.

Do you know how many fans of other teams said the same thing before you? And the club can always be that 1/10 that will go from PL to league 1 in a matter of few years. The club won the league last year. So, what if the team won the FA cup and got relegated in the 2014-2015 seasons. That means no PL title for Leicester because the club looked at the short term results instead of a long term history. Teams are playing their second unit in this compilation. Even Darby played their second team because they knew how much the PL means.

Stupid logic I think, it's not our money and I'd much rather us win silverware and have some great days out along the way. I would like to think we would bounce straight back from the championship as it is anyway so we could hopefully have a promotion season to look forward to also

Yes, a lot of your post makes sense. I strongly agree that FA Cup semi finals should not be held at Wembley. I am an older fan myself and was at Villa Park for the semi with Spurs and all the heartache it entailed.

I guess I was more looking at it from worrying about the team being decimated if we went down, but maybe that wouldn't all be bad. Of course in the ideal world we could win the FA and stay up, but sadly that option wasnt there haha

Football is short term..Ask  Arsenal, Everton, Man.utd, Man.city, Spurs, Liverpool.

All according to their own fans should and are obligated to win the league every 2 years.

I of all being, and greater knowledge, and the great one who should be listened to.

Its the Blackburns, Stokes, WBAs, Burnleys, Whams, The Leicesters...

That  make up the spirit The character  of the English league system.

It would be unbearable to be relegated and then lose the FA Cup final. I'd rather be have premier league status going into the final than lose. In real time it would be unbearable knowing we'd already been relegated.

But screw it, take the trophy. There are no trophies for 18-20th place.

The Cup?

The poll?

The question?

Your response?

Id take the Cup and relegation in a flash... nearly  50  years of watching that greatest of cup competitions I want my club to win it... Having won the 1st division, the FA Cup is the next biggest domestic prize.

And just think of all the clubs that we could sing... "FA cup winners, youll never sing that"..to ;)
