dan_fox Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 Aside from what's been going on behind closed doors, I think it's about time LCFC started reviewing their social media messaging... Enough of these "All smiles at training" posts on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook... I want to see... "Foxes fighting for first team places" "The lads focussing on preparing to win everything on Saturday" It's time the club started sending and setting the right tone now to steer this ship in the right direction. Thoughts?
Stadt Posted 20 February 2017 Posted 20 February 2017 I couldn't give a toss about the training photo captions ffs. The capitalisation of player names every time they have a shot blocked or saved or put over the bar as if they've scored is annoying on the twitter though

I see other teams accounts being almost as ecstatic as our goalscoring tweets when their team concedes

Guest Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 Have pity on whoever handles our social media accounts. It's like polishing a turd.
Livid Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 I did mention that they did seem to dropped some of the smiling training pics prior to the Millwall game. The obligatory XYZ says we will improve/get it right etc. seems to have been dropped from the OS post Millwall as well.

Some of them come up really nice though, it's all in the post baking process and correct selection of progressively finer grit polish.........they look really good chromed or gold plated, and mounted on a golden boot. It's an ideal Christmas present for overpaid footballers who don't give a fcuk about their team or suppoerters.

FoxFossil Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 An alternative truth, all the fashion these days.
AjcW Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 Most Championship & League 1 clubs are better than us in this area now anyway, it's pretty doggo in my professional opinion but it wont change. It actually perfectly sums up everything about the club at the minute: - Not progressive. - Light years behind the rest of the Premier League. They keep hiring Social Media execs but they must have a very stubborn overlord manager (maybe it's rudders ) because there's a clear structure that they're not allowed to deviate from. Man City & Barnsley are two best in class for Digital within football at the minute, i've said that in various similar threads.

The forward has a tame effort easily saved by Heaton. 0-0'

Thoughts? why does this bother you so much? It's not the club's social media account which determines if we stay up. It's the fvcking players and manager who need to sort that out. A caption on Twitter doesn't really mean anything. If this is the biggest of your worries, you've got it pretty easy.

Do you think players don't use social media? I'm sure like most people they spend all their time glued to Instagram, Facebook, etc... It's the same theory with how management drives the culture of an organisation. Everything needs to change from the top down and one place to start is what messaging we send out to everyone on social media.

The vast majority of it seems to be people boasting or posting diatribes, or just posting about inane everyday activities that for some reason they think others will find interesting. I actually thought by now there would be some huge backlash against social media but I guess a generation is now so entrenched in it its a huge part of their lives and it's here to stay.
ozvaldo Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 I've unfollowed them all. They piss me off with 'nothing news'. I don't need to see Robert Huth laughing and joking after he's lost a 10 yard sprint race against Mahrez. Especially 2 days after we've lost to ****ing Burnley.
foxinsocks Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 I think (...know) there is a realization that the lcfc "official social media" adopts a tone and line that is non controversial and bland. When they put stuff onto twitter there is often an avalanche of comments (of various sorts!); yet if they want lcfc news and comments to be the destination of choice for fans who seek lcfc info, then they need to drive it with content... I believe they should get much more independent comment on to their site - to reflect the views and opinions of fans and pundits... thereby provoking thought an debate (and growing traffic\). There are many fans and journalists who have valid yet non "official line" points of views. If Lcfc media is to grow then they have to allow independence editorial decision making and independence of content - might be tough... but they have to chose between being an news/comment portal that grows and grows... or a party-line site that is putting out anodyne snippets. I think the club's advisers understand this dilemma... let's see if they are brave enough...
Stadt Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 Most clubs' twitter accounts offer more insight and news and they're sometimes funny too. Ours is dross, we're a dross club from top to bottom. Dross.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 February 2017 Posted 21 February 2017 Whilst I'm not saying we need to change the tone of miniscule things like photo captions because we're currently awful like the OP seems to suggest, the whole output could definitely do with a massive tidy up, as well as the website. It all looks really naff, poorly designed and rushed half the time. You don't need a massive budget just to put out reasonably designed social media posts - they are quite disposable things but they just don't look very good, especially if you look at Man City / Arsenal and their content on social media and how polished it is. Doesn't help that Century Gothic is a really, really poor typeface. Most of the video content is okay, though. The above is just wrong from start to finish.
