foxfanazer Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Craig Shakespeare has revealed that Leicester forward Jamie Vardy once had to be persuaded to not quit football and become a holiday rep in ibiza. that's so Jamie Vardy ain't it! Gotta love the man. He might be a bit of a questionable character at times but I just love his attitude on the pitch and what he's achieved here
Finnegan Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Probably still will when he retires. Can't see him coaching or on the telly when he could be shitfaced in beefa wearing his premier league medal and recalling the time he destroyed Harry Kane with a lion king tweet.

Arriba Los Zorros Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Yeah, he wrote about this in his autobiography, during his first season here he went to Pearson in training and said he wanted to go back to Fleetwood on loan, after that was refused and nothing changed he decided he fancied taking his money and moving to Ibiza to become a rep! Luckily he was talked around eh!

Alf Bentley Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Once his career is over, if he wants to spend the rest of his life necking booze, getting dodgy tattoos, shagging dodgy women and partying on the beach, he's earned it as far as I'm concerned. He might come across as a dodgy "chav rat" or the English Craig Bellamy and be a hate figure to fans of some other clubs, but I seriously admire what he's achieved in the game - particularly at LCFC. Not only did he drag himself up from non-league to get his opportunity here, but he's dragged himself up and up and up again since he's been here - largely through application and learning from training, I presume. He might never match last season, but he's still contributing this season - and is a much more intelligent player and better team-player than he gets credit for. Hats off to him! Jamie Vardy DESERVES a party!

The reality of that statement is that it's a huge compliment for both those players.

Kitchandro Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Still the most important player in our team. We'd honestly be a nothing side without him IMO.
Koke Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Vardy is the reason I don't hate Diego Costa like many non-Chelsea fans do. I actually admire Costa. Neither Vardy nor Costa go around committing disgraceful challenges on people like certain Everton & Spurs players do. Vardy dives and gets into people's faces and deliberately winds up opposition fans but he also does his job on the pitch. He's also got far more on-field football intelligence than people give him credit for. His technique for the Stoke & Sunderland goals were pure class.

goose2010 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 I think V2 of his book will be interesting once he has actually finished playing football as i am sure there is a hell of a lot left out or removed from the one he has out!
Wymsey Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 It's been mentioned before, but what will he do post-retirement? Yes, he'll certainly have good spare cash on the side but that means nothing after retiring from a hobby he's has a passion for since being very young - look at how Clarke Carlisle, Dean Windass and Paul Gascoigne as examples. It's a big transition and it can only either be great for him (something fixed up by someone else) or struggling to find ideas of how to use his time effectively and sensibly.

I was thinking after the game about his recent run of goals for club and country and how many of them were poacher-type goals inside the box rather than the cliched ball over the top, space to run into that was so commented on last season. Only the first Liverpool goal fits that description, all the rest have been from crosses and cut backs.

I'm imagining things getting pretty lively at the team hotel and in local nightclubs, too....

He's not only the one dimensional cliche "ball over the top" striker. I'm still debating which of his last 2 goals were better. I'm leaning towards Sunderland. The way he just killed the pass with his right and almost in the same movement belted it into the net with his left was outstanding. He's 30 now. In the next few years he will lose his pace but hopefully he will be a Defoe type of player for us at 33/34.

Honestly think he will try and bridge the gap between non league and league football. He is trying it at the minute with the V9 academy but i imagine he will put more effort into that during August and April then going to Ibiza for a few months inbetween.
LCCFox96 Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 The technique he has shown for his last two goals has been exceptional. As was some of his link up play with Mahrez, Okazaki and Slimani over the last two fixtures. He's a very capable footballer and fortunately for us, I think he'll only get better with age at least for another 2-3 seasons before his body starts to catch up him. Personifies everything I love about football on the pitch, I'd challenge any football fan, if Vardy played for their team, to not like him.
