Guest MattP Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Albrighton will surely get the record here for a MOTM with the shortest time on the pitch....

Nod.E Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 CS - 9 KS - 7 (So good at coming for high balls.) DS - 8 RH - 8 YB - 8 (really impressed.) CF - 7 RM - 6 DD - 4 (don't let the win paper over an awful display.) WN - 6 DG - 5 (too often either runs directly into players and loses the ball or fires wastefully wide.) SO - 6 JV - 7 MA - 8 (our first choice left sided midfielder.) IS - 6 AK - N/A
Guest ttfn Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Schmeichel 7 Simpson 7 Huth 7 Benalouane 8 Fuchs 7 Mahrez 6 Drinkwater 5 Ndidi 5 Gray 5 Okazaki 4 Vardy 7 Subs: Albrighton 9 Slimani 7 King 6
foxinsox Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Good subs by Shakey. Changed the game. Back 5: 7 all round. Benny is a good guy to have. Starting midfield 5-6. None at their best. OkazKi 5. looked tired Vardy 7 Albrighton 9. MOTM. Slimani 8: best game in months King. 6 always reliable Sunderland, came with a good plan which nearly worked, but nothing going foward. Wasted umpteen set pieces.
Blue Ed Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Schmeichel 6 Simpson 8 Great defeding in the 1st half clearing that cross to the back post. Been a fan of his this season and looked solid again Huth 7 Looked a threat at set pieces. has improved with the whole defence and looks solid Benalouane 8 thought he could be a decent player and now being given a chance shows that he can step up Fuchs 5 Poor clearance should have led to a Sunderland goal. Lucky they are so poor on confidence. Mahrez 7 Didn't really get going tonight but showed some great touches as usual Drinkwater 5 Credit to Sunderland. We were bullied in midfield for the first 60 minutes and they worked hard to not give us the time to find the passes Ndidi 6 Solid game dis what he's good at Gray 5 I don't know about Gray. He had a great game against Stoke. But it looks like he's got only one special move- great pace cut inside and shoots horribly wide. Okazaki 4 See Drinkwater Vardy 7. Great tackling back in the first half and ran his socks off as usual. Great strike for his goal Subs: Albrighton 10 If that was Hazard playing tonight people would be completely wetting themselves. one of the best individual performces I've seen. Just unplayable Slimani 7 Pleased for him. Worked hard and offers more of a goal threat when Sinj can't get in the game King 5. Some nice touches and passes, not really on long enough to make a big impression
Alf Bentley Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Shakespeare 7, Stay: Was wanting changes earlier, but can't complain! Midfield was dire for first hour Schmeichel 6 Little to do, kept concentration Simpson 7 Solid Benna 7 Solid Huth 7 Solid Fuchs 7.5 Solid+ Mahrez 6 Sputtering sparks Ndidi 5 Below par Drinky 5 Below par Gray 6 Threat, but so wasteful Shinji 5 Chaotic Vardy 7 Quiet, but sharp Albrighton 8 MoM Game changer - starts v. Atletico Slimani 7 Menacing presence King 6 Calmed things down Sunderland 4 Worked hard but so limited - doomed Ref 4 Should've carded LB for fouls on Mahrez & missed other petty stuff
Harry - LCFC Posted 4 April 2017 Posted 4 April 2017 Sunderland were slightly better in the first hour. We only started to dominate during the part of the game people will remember most. Good win but it wasn't a brilliant performance overall. 6 on average.

As a previous poster mentioned, Barnes v Porto. However, he'll most likely get the highest rating with the shortest time on the pitch. I can't think of a better performance off the bench in recent times.
Simi Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 How can Albrighton be less than a 10? Off the bench to win the match for us with two assists and 100% work rate. Thought SImpson was brilliant too. Off night for Drinkwater.

Thn after that the ref was shite, was a lot better in the second half though.

shen Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Shakespeare 8 - Simply for the history he is making and affecting the game like he did with the subs which was reminiscent of Ranieri last season. Maybe needs to freshen things up this weekend. Schmeichel 6 - Don't recall him making a noteworthy save. Pretty routine stuff, but overall alert and OK distribution. Simpson 7 - Verging on an 8, but Sunderland had very little cutting edge and he didn't offer a great deal going forward so can't rate him above 7. Thought he was the best defender though. It's noteworthy that we got more out of Mahrez once Simpson started supporting with overlapping runs or simply creating an overload situation second half. It makes their partnership down the right seem more balanced and intuitive rather than 'you attack, I defend'. Benalouane 7 - Looked comfortable throughout and his calmness on the ball was welcome in the face of Sunderland's pressing. Made the right decision virtually every time. Huth 7 - Never troubled and went close on a couple of occasions at the other end. Unrecognisable from just a few months ago. Fuchs 6 - Didn't feel he got forward as much or as well as he can with Gray so far up the pitch. Looked better with Albrighton there. Struggled with Sunderland's long kicks to Jones. Mahrez 6 - He's still searching for that elusive stellar form, but I still trust him with the ball more than any other player. First half he saw a lot of it, but was disappointed with his decision-making. He kept cutting inside every time and struggled to keep up tempo. Second half he was markedly improved because he kept their defense guessing. Didn't make a defining contribution, but overall OK. Drinkwater 5 - It didn't click today with him and Ndidi. Maybe tiredness is an issue. Some misplaced passes and messed up one-twos with Mahrez and Shinji along with some indecisiveness. Still a reliable worker and was helped by the subs. Ndidi 5 - Thought he had a pretty poor first half. Sloppy in possession, wrong decisions, didn't get close to his opponents. Second half was better as the Sunderland midfield left him in acres of space time and again, obviously focusing on marking Drinkwater and Mahrez tightly. Could maybe do with a rest as well before Atletico, with King and Amartey likely chomping at the bit to get some game time. Gray 6 - I've marked him up a bit because he was a threat and he did mostly beat his direct opponent, but by god was he frustrating. One effort on target, a handful other of opportunities and openings badly wasted. He's probably instructed to play like this, but it wouldn't hurt him to look up and see other options available to him at times. Vardy makes great runs lately and both he and Mahrez continually fail to exploit them. I hope he sat on the bench watching attentively at Albrighton, because that was exactly the sort of game he should have played. He's still young, and it shows, but hopefully he will be able to add more layers to his game soon. Otherwise he'll never be more than a bit-part player in the long term. Okazaki 5 - Never really got into the game. Bossed physically and some poor touches/passes at crucial times. Rightly subbed and probably fortunate to stay on for 60 mins. If anyone needs and deserves a rest, it's probably him. We have a tough run now and he we need a 100 % fit Shinji for the big games. Vardy 7 - Low rating by his recent standards, and that's by virtue of him not getting any service until Albrighton and Slimani came on. Frustrating that we didn't utilise our most potent weapon until the last half hour. Superb finish once more and did his usual harrying, rallying and flying into tackles. Subs: Albrighton 9 MOTM - What a cameo! Unlucky not to start, but good to see Shakespeare reward Gray with a spot after his fine performance last week. Albrighton all but cemented the starting spot with this display. Inventive, tenacious and quality delivery. Visibly feeling supremely confident when he shrugged King off to take a difficult shot from distance at 2-0. The impact from a sub you dream of as a manager. Slimani 7 - Is he an expensive Ulloa with a face transplant? I felt this was a typical Ulloa performance: Good in the air with a firm and well-placed header, lots of slow-ish harrying and pretty poor layoffs But he did what he was brought on for and scored a good goal. Could have had another if not for a great block by Koné. Expecting to see more of him in the coming weeks. King N/A - Did fine, but Sunderland had downed tools by then. A goal would've been the topping that we probably didn't deserve, but still...

urban.spaceman Posted 5 April 2017 Posted 5 April 2017 Sunderland were definitely better for the first hour or so - but we quite clearly had one eye on the next two fixtures and so were only at around 60% I'd say. Shakey admitted he got the midfield shape a bit wrong in the first half but the back 5 handled all the pressure perfectly and we rode our luck quite a few times. How brilliant though that we have players like Slimani and especially Albrighton who can come off the bench completely fresh and impact straight away? All it took was the perfect cross from Albrighton then bam - 1-0. His hard work is just phenomenal. 7s to each of the back 5 6s to Drinky and Gray 7s to Mahrez and Ndidi Shinji gets a 6 just for his self sacrificial hard work Vardy 8 Slimani 8 Albrighton - 10. Simply brilliant. Signed on a free from Aston Villa because he was surplus to requirements.
The Blur Posted 7 April 2017 Posted 7 April 2017 Shakespeare 7, Stay: Turned things around in the second half Schmeichel 6- Some good routine saves and catches Simpson 7-Solid Benna 6-Was giving away fouls in the first half, cleaned up his act in the second half. Huth 7-Solid Fuchs 6.5- Improved immensely after Albrighton came on Mahrez 6- Hot and cold Ndidi 6- Poor in the first half, improved in the second half Drinky 5- Looked lethargic. I think he should be rested against Everton. Gray 6- Our best player in the first half but his decision making was woeful. Felt for him when he was subbed in the second half but it is understandable as Mahrez's magic makes him more valuable to stay on the pitch. Shinji 5- Average Vardy 7- Not much service for most of the game but kept plugging away and got his reward in the end. Albrighton 8 Clear cut MOTM- the way he won the ball back to set up Slimani's first just underlines why he is my favourite player. Slimani 7.5- He showed us all that he can play with Vardy! Some great through balls to start attacks. Good header. King 6- Steady Eddie- could have done bit better with his chance.
