Charl91 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Going to be a little controversial, on the back of a very respectable result tonight (especially if we hadn't have been robbed by that penalty). The subs were shocking tonight. Everyone (barring a select few, not mentioning any names) could've told you that putting King on would be suicide (did he touch the ball?). And what does Gray have to do to get on the pitch? In what way could he have performed worse than Mahrez? Why not use a third sub? Thought Shakespeare truly messed that one up. Slim on for Okazaki, and Gray on later, and we may have been able to snatch a goal.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 King for Oka allowing Ndidi to drop back completely nullified Griezmann, was a class sub
car1os Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 But then we may have been more exposed on the counter ourselves - 1-0 is easier to overturn than 2-0. We were at least more solid as we were being overrun in midfield. But agree we had no attacking spark after half time and we were back to playing hoofball
Fox 4 Life Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 It was a masterstroke by shakey. griezmann was ripping us a new one and that sub completely took him out of the game.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Both substitutions were correct decisions - the way we became much more solid (albeit less of an attacking threat) in the second half showed it. Vardy sub was to protect his booking / he was shafted.
the fox Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 ??, for me kingy offered an extra man on the midfield and stopped them (a little) from going thought us like butter, as for slimani, he won us some headers and that's about it, and that is more than you can say about okazaki and vardy today.
RowlattsFox Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Should have bought gray on for mahrez but the two subs were spot on. No point risking vardy getting a booking when we're settling for the 1-0.
elvisfmcfly Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 They were barely threatening the whole game! We should have kept it 4 4 2.

Sorry but your wrong, king fitted in perfectly for what shakey wanted to do,you should probably be about more realistic in your expectation of the subs, did you expect us to have a go and go 3 up top? king helped steady the midfield and atletico created nothing major, imo king was brought on to see the game out, seville was a smash and grab at there place, tonight we competed
themightyfin Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 King substitution was brilliant it enabled us to nullify Greiezman and put a extra man in midfield.kings work rate off the ball was awesome. Vardy was tired after running all over the shop leading the line and Slim has nothing to work with really so I really don't understand your post I thought the subs were perfect and we are still in this. What game were you actually watching?

Indeed, sometimes just having a blue shirt in a passing lane is enough to prevent the pass, so albeit you may physically seem to be doing nothing, it is actually having an effect.
jayfox26 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Close thread. Was a great sub putting King on so NDidi could stop Griezman. I don't fancy myself as a know it all about football but when I see some of the horse shit others come out with, I make myself feel better!
Charl91 Posted 12 April 2017 Author Posted 12 April 2017 I understand taking Vardy off. I don't understand bringing King on (in any circumstances, let alone a CL game! Even Amartey would've been better....) and I certainly don't understand leaving Gray on the bench. Maybe it's just me though. Better go and have a lie down!
Koke Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Griezmann was more or less anonymous second half because Ndidi dropped further back but unfortunately King offered us very little going forward.

tom27111 Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Gray definitely should've come on. His cameo at Sevilla proved that, he's the perfect player to run the ball out of defence and ease the pressure...Maybe even create something. Still, a goal in it. 2-1 would've been so much better, I think we might have to score 3. But this is Leicester City. Making the impossible, possible, since spring 2014.

Livid Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Individually King didn't offer much but him coming on tightened up the entire midfield.
lgfualol Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 King did make sense, it's just a shame he is so average. I don't think we would have lost anything taking Mahrez off though, Gray would have destroyed some tiring legs. Now we have Albrighton and Mahrez probably unable to play on Saturday.
Aeropars Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Wow this thread is twattish. The OP must be on the sauce.
breadandcheese Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 We couldn't win the tie tonight, only lose it. So bringing King on shored up the midfield and has kept the tie very much alive for the second leg.

Goto bed mate School in the morning.
Webbo Posted 12 April 2017 Posted 12 April 2017 Tbh there's an argument that we should have started with the team that finished the game. Flood the midfield away from home and if you're going to play a lone striker then a big man is a good option.
