HoustonFox Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 To those who called it a while ago (not me, before anyone thinks I'm tooting my own horn), well spotted. I think we'll see King at least on Saturday, he played pretty well when he came on against Watford. Be interesting to see if he can move forward more paired with Ndidi, or if he'll still operate more in his crab fashion. Who steps up to the bench is going to be more interesting... Kapi? Hamza?

If Fuchs or Mahrez were carrying an injury they'd be out of the team asap cos they have capable lads who can replace them. Drinkwater got Amartey and King who between then dont even make 1 decent midfielder. How does your list of honours compare with those three?
lgfualol Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 Looks like he has been carrying something. Thank the lord Ndidi is still good to play. I'd like to bring Amartey in, but it will be King. Either way we won't have a midfield on Saturday.

He has been shite recently. That's incontestable. Trouble is we've no one else to replace him. Same story in central defence.
shen Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 Maybe a blessing in disguise. We will miss his energy and his good defensive work, but it would be good to see what Amartey or Kapustka can do. I agree that we don't need to test King, however he's probably going to be picked anyway. Judging by his performance in the home game you would understand why as well. He has had good performances against Man City historically, so I would understand the decision, but moving forward it would be more useful to CS to see if any of the aforementioned can be relied upon next season.

m4DD0gg Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 Well thats 0 points for the rest of the season if king replaces him.

He's saved us from relegation with 3 games to spare! Surely it would be more beneficial to him to have an idea of which players he wants replacing. Playing fringe players in these games will give him a stronger case when he faces the owners in contract talks where they will be hearing him out on his visions.

Oh you're right, I even checked the lineups and thought I saw Drinkwater We did lose a lot of games with those two though. Maybe Man City's kryptonite is Amartey King.

Maybe Man City's kryptonite is Amartey King. We did, but that didn't necessarily change with Drinkwater and Ndidi until the change in management. We might get rolled over this time, but it's pretty ridiculous to write them off given they performed as well as they did against these same opponents half a year ago.

I think he must've agreed to play through in spite of it, and the management, above all Shakespeare, decided it was for the best if Drinkwater were to feature. Says a lot when your manager puts more faith in you in the quest for survival in the league when you're carrying an injury than he does with the fit replacement(s), such as King, Amartey or Kapustka. But in the end, we weren't exactly spoilt for choices in central midfield. Speedy recovery, Danny! And come back stronger next season!
Dickov22 Posted 11 May 2017 Posted 11 May 2017 If only Clownio had listened to Shakey and not let James go to Barnsley. He'd be a better replacement than King. Poor decision to not give him more games here this season once he got fit IMO

Ready for next season to show us that he still can be the real deal.
