Gylfi Sigurdsson

When you consider Chelsea are close to getting Tiemoue Bakayoko, 22, for £40m on a five-year deal from Monaco it makes me think Gylfi is overpriced . Matic anyone

How much would you have slated Sigurdsson if he'd come and got injured in his first game and not recovered?

Wouldnt that same logic apply to any signing??  if we used that logic, we would never sign anyone...!

about time, least we can move on from the fact we thought we had a chance of getting him, which this season we didnt

I kinda get this. If there's no point hanging on in hope of getting someone, the targets need to change. I'm not sure about Barkley though tbh (mentioned elsewhere).

We still spent a decent whack of money, hindsight and all that but if we'd signed 2 quality additions instead of 6 unknown quantities, that barely budged the title winning 11.

A decent whack of money yes, but not a package of £72.5 million on one player. How would people feel if we'd signed someone like that and they'd been out all season like Mendy? The squad would have been thread bare.

We did push the boat out, we just pushed it in the wrong direction.

We couldn't even get Deeney or Keane to kick up a fuss about coming here. So I'm not sure why people think he'd have been so easy to entice.

We are on as hat trick for first game bad injuries...Mendy |& Wague, hopefully no other to add to these.

What?

He's constantly slating Mendy as a signing when the bloke has done nothing wrong. The point is any signing can get injured, would he be slating Sigurdsson the same as he does Mendy?

we put in a reported £40mil bid in a few weeks ago; but its pretty clear he never wanted to come here anyway, need to move onto other targets,

Mach Everton's bid and then offer him a deal. He's easily worth the same a week as Vardy/Mahrez.

We already did (if you believe the papers... although I wouldn't be shocked if that was them just trying to get more money). The step up from Swansea to Leicester isn't worth kicking up a fuss about. The step up from Swansea to Everton is clearly, as he's not getting on the plane to go away with them.

If we wanted him as a 10, then I'd suggest we probably already did move on some time ago to Iheanacho.

spot on there; if the 2 clubs were in the opposite positions then i think he'd have came to us, but alas we arent

thats true, imo i think us going for Iheanacho could be more of a benefit in the number 10 role

makes no sense if we had 40m rejected.

Sorry. Didnt realise your question was targetted directly at this one person.  I see your point now  :)

So much for the £50million pricetag, but perhaps add-ons will get them up to that eventually.

It's too much money, even in this day and age. Never felt that he was that keen on a move to us anyway.

Everton are doing some good business. Obviously not enough to break the top 4-5, but definitely will be not far behind.

For £40million, we could get two top players from abroad. Just hope our recruitment team are on it!

I believe our bid was just under 40m, and he had no intention of coming here.

One of the ITK's will know more than me though.

Not sure we actually bid.

You were the one I was hoping would reply haha:D

We may have been used to try and push the price up.

It'll end up being like 45m + 5m in add ons I reckon, which is insane!

What a soap opera!

Looks like a straight two-horse race between us and Everton. He'll end up going for 50M at this rate. Credit to Swansea, they are using all of their eBay auction skills to jack the price up, and they should be.

I think Siggy is our number 1 target and the club will back Shakespeare. I think he will go to Everton, but we will match any bid they make. In for a penny, in for a (50M) pound.

Will be interesting to see how they do. If they were say, 12th then the business they are doing would probably propel them up the table. But I'm not sure what they've done is actually going to move them up the table significantly enough to warrant the outlay.

I can't see united being quite as bad again and they will be looking at getting mid 70's point total. So Everton are likely to need a 10/15 point shift minimum to move a single place. On the back of losing their top striker, If Sigurdsson goes his stats are marginally better than Barkley, so they are almost like for like.
