Does make me laugh how bids by certain teams for certain players are met with distain and others aren't. Twitter was full of the usual lets laugh at Leicester stuff when it was reported we'd bid £40m for Sigurdsson. But rumours of United going for Dier at £50m / £60m, who frankly I think is a massively limited footballer.  Or Man City for Walker at £40m - £60m for a bloody right back, nobody bats an eyelid.

Have to disagree personally, two excellent footballers. English= higher price, man city = higher price, young (Dier) = higher price!

So they should be laughed at even more then, just like City do a bit more now for spending £50m on limited footballers in Sterling and Stones.

Did someone really just suggest Lallana as a £50 million player!?! Adam Lallana!

Lallana > Sigurdsson IMO. About £10m better

1 he didn't want to come here

2 it's silly money @ £40m+

3 Deeney for £20M? Now you're talking...

Two out of three ain't bad.

Where does Deeney fit into our starting 11 if Iheanacho deal goes through? On the bench I'm guessing. We need a genuine creative midfielder/No.10

Don't think Deeney will come unless he is a starter and we crave some creativity, so unless Ulloa/Slimani leave, or we don't sign Iheanacho, then I would spend that £20m elsewhere

Until this deal goes through, our nett spend this window so far is higher than Everton's (and we've only bought two players!!)

can everyone stop spunking  over their spending

BTW, he doesn't want to come here so why we have got to P93 is astonishing

Imo we don't even need a player like Gylfi, if we sign Iheanacho.

What we need is another proven, quality winger to seriously challenge Mahrez/Albrighton.

Probably because people feel they need to make a comment.....

Agree with this, seemed a lot of money for a player i wasn't convinced we would be able to accomodate on the pitch to his full potential.

I love pre-season, Swansea lost to Barnet with Siggy in the team lol = he wants out = the manager probably needs the money to rebuild a LOT of that side.

It's not looking good for Swansea no matter what they do lol

When you consider Chelsea are close to getting Tiemoue Bakayoko, 22, for £40m on a five-year deal from Monaco it makes me think Gylfi is overpriced . Matic anyone

He's massively overpriced at £40m.

He's 28 in less than two months and his career to date has been surplus at the only big club he has played for and playing at a mediocre PL club.

Yes he would have improved us but he's terrible value at that money. When you consider probable future world class players like Coman and Dembele going to Bayern and Dortmund for £40m combined it looks ridiculous. At that price Everton are welcome to him. I'd much rather invest in players like Iheanacho and try and pick up the next generation rather than an already declining asset in Sigurdsson who we already know is a good but not great player.

If Iheanacho is set on playing behind Vardy, then you are probably right, although Sigurdsson's set pieces would have been a huge asset to have.

Even with Iheanacho and his ability to run at people, we will still lack someone who can get on the ball in midfield with creativity and flair and create things out of nothing, similar to what Mahrez has been able to do out wide. Even if Mahrez does stay, we will still need someone similar to avoid relying so heavily on him. If he does go, we will need a new winger and a creative CM/no.10 in my opinion.

Be interesting to see how Shakey wants to set us up next season, whether he will stick with 4-4-1-1 and where he sees Iheanacho fitting in. Also, how highly we rate Lawrence in the number 10 role and whether he can have an impact there from the bench. I'd assume we are aiming higher if we were genuinely in for Sigurdsson.

You were the one I was hoping would reply haha:D

We may have been used to try and push the price up.

It'll end up being like 45m + 5m in add ons I reckon, which is insane!

Yep that's my thoughts exactly.

we definitely spoke to Swansea and the player.

That's an odd thing to say about net spending... they have sold ONE  but look at the quality of players they are bringing in...

daft to think Bayern got James Rodriguez for around 5 million less than the figures being thrown around for Sigurdson.
