Gylfi Sigurdsson

It's very clear that Swansea don't want to sell him, but if Sigurdsson hasn't handed in a transfer request himself (as it seems at the moment), he is probably content to stay.

There must be something I'm missing if someone could enlighten me on this subject:  what is the point of transfer requests?  Interested parties will enquire either way.  Arent requests unnecessary?  Like Mahrez, if he hadnt made that statement it wouldnt have harmed his prospects

Someone content on staying at a club probably wouldn't refuse to go on a clubs pre season tour, imo that's basically handing in a request without actually handing 1 in lol

Most contracts have a loyalty bonus in them. You forfeit that if you make a request. Doesn't really make a positive difference for the player though.

Ta.  So as far as I can see there is no good reason to make the request unless you want to give your club the finger

Would you swap Mahrez for Sigurdsson? I wouldn't. I think 50m is too much.

Depends if we ever set up to get the best out of Mahrez, we play another season where we don't support our attacking players and we'd probably be better off swapping him for someone a bit more boring and functional as sad as that might be.

Where does Deeney fit into our starting 11 if Iheanacho deal goes through? On the bench I'm guessing. We need a genuine creative midfielder/No.10

Don't think Deeney will come unless he is a starter and we crave some creativity, so unless Ulloa/Slimani leave, or we don't sign Iheanacho, then I would spend that £20m elsewhere

He probably doesn't. But at last we'd have three PL quality strikers fighting for two places, plus (so it would appear) Ulloa &Shinji  as back up.

Though I for one would like to think that Leo & Shinji have given us all they can, and should move on...

He's worth 30 absolute max. If I were Everton, us, or anyone I'd be telling Swansea to take up sex and travel.

"Take up sex and travel"

meaning

"Go f**k yourself?"

This is getting tedious now..........

1. Sigurdsson doesn't want to come here, people should be able to read between the lines, he doesn't see us as enough of a step up, whereas Everton, as much as we don't like to believe it, probably (just about) fits the bill.

2. We bid £40m, the maximum we were willing to pay, it got rejected, we gave up and moved on, Everton have bid slightly less than us because they hoped with his desire to go there they could have pushed it through, fair play to Swansea, they are sticking to their guns on the price.

3. Where do people think we would fit iheanacho AND sigurdsson into the starting 11 together? Both would have to have been virtually assured regular starts, Iheanacho is to partner Vardy, Sigurdssons position is just behind the main striker (number 10). Do people think he would have replaced DD in one of the CM positions? Because that isn't where he is effective, or where he wants to play! You either have one or the other, (iheanacho or sigurdsson) not both, unless you are looking to change formation to 3 at the back, which isn't the main plan!

I'm of the opinion that £50m (part of it add ons) although overpriced, might have turned out to be good business for us, with the ambition it would show to help attract other targets going forward, but it is not going to happen now, can people please realise this!

EVERTON have had a £40million bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson TURNED DOWN and the Iceland international is not on Swansea’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The club confirmed the 27-year-old “did not feel in the right frame of mind to travel due to the current uncertainty over his future.”

Couldn't agree more.

If Everton get Siggy and then bin McCarthy off on us I'll be so pissed off lol

They'd probably tell us they want £35m plus for McCarthy if they get GS to try and recoup on the extortionate fee Swansea are asking, and that's a Fooking lot of money for a sick ?note who sees more of the physios table than the pitch I'd rather have Barkley than McCarthy !!

Boudebouz or Ziyech for less than £30m, younger, for just over half of what Sigurdsson's wages would be, are the best alternatives IMO.

Or get both and still only pay about £50m

Move on and get Boudebouz or whoever more cheaply, but not before putting in a 45m bid just to screw Everton over by bumping up the price.

Especially since Boudebouz is apparently available for around £12m.

Possibly but it could be argued that a player handing in a transfer request publicly, could put pressure on his current team to sell for less as teams are aware of his desire to move. A player that looks content at a club who don't want to sell will normally command a higher fee than one who's obviously unsettled at a club who may not want to be stuck with an unhappy player

He may be just being respectful to Swansea.

Sky sources say the Toffees' interest has translated into an offer £10m short of the £50m Swansea are demanding for their goalscoring midfielder.

And it is understood a rival - and more valuable - bid from Leicester has already been rejected by the City board.
