ironmustuobey Posted 22 June 2017 Posted 22 June 2017 In theory, Iheanacho would plug the hole in attacking mid, the only problem is we haven't seen him in that role at club level. He was best deployed as a support striker for Nigeria's youth teams but has since redeveloped at City to be a target man (which he is woeful at). What he needs now is a ton of gametime in a free role behind the central striker. If Leicester can provide that, then he just might fulfill his potential.

You watch his goals and assists, he often starts the moves himself in the middle.
HoustonFox Posted 22 June 2017 Posted 22 June 2017 He reminds me a lot of Lineker. Gets the ball, lays it off and gets into the box to finish it. Not seen him be a real 10 yet.

Thracian Posted 22 June 2017 Posted 22 June 2017 Can't see any alternative if Iheanacho's been "promised" the striker's support role as one report claimed. Is this the new way forward - people being promised their own position?

You get purchased, as agreed between the two clubs. You then have to knuckle down to work for you place in the team. No promises will have been made. It surely don't work like that.

I've no scepticism about the player at all. Quite the contrary - I'm as excited as everyone else. It's just that what I read came across as his being promised the role I mentioned and I wondered a) if it was true and b) about the wisdom of it. .

Perhaps not too many of us - me included - expected him to still be a regular. But then we've a few like that.

Don't think he could be a real number 10 and his goal scoring ability is so impressive that I can only really see him as playing in the Vardy role Well the Nigerian press seem to think it's his position and where he wants to play.

Kingy's been excellent in retaining the ball simply and keeping everyone calm. Shinji's got the close control of a lampost and is more hectic than calming.

Yes, he is neither a CM nor an ST, rather something in-between. He has said he "molded his play after Kaka". So when I think of his highest potential, I look at the attributes of players like that. While Kaka scored a lot in his day, it was mostly down to his shot accuracy and ability to see attacking options. This lad can grow into that if coached right.

I was more thinking of him running around chasing the ball, closing people down ect but I can see where your coming from

I for one hope we can pull this off.
